Two brand new songs from Seapony, exclusive to this release. First material to follow the band's debut LP, Go With Me, also available on Hardly Art. The music of Seapony is refreshing in its simplicity. Most songs use no more than three chords, with an average running time around two-and-a-half minutes. Other bands make a fuss about coloring outside the lines, but Seapony aspires to the reverse, making each ditty distinctive while operating within the same basic sonic framework: Fuzz-drenched guitar playing simple chord progressions, topped with concise melodic hooks and singer Jen Weidel's breathy vocals. In lieu of a human drummer, the Seattle trio entrusts timekeeping to a vintage gizmo the size of a desktop calculator. The lyrics to "Dreaming," the track that catapulted them into the spotlight in late 2010, are just six lines long. Like YoungMarble Giants and Beat Happening before them, this young three-piece has generated excitement that belies their music's modest means. "Sailing" gently drifts on a simple, sleepy melody and soft handclaps, allowing space for crystalline layers of both acoustic and electric guitar. These semi live recordings made at the Spike Studios in Fulham where a back to basics project and a deliberate move away, from computer programmed music. The project was heavily influenced by the albums Drastic Season by African Head Charge and Get Up With It by Miles Davis. The tracks contain an array of random procession instruments ranging from African pianos to kitchen utensils, vintage synth tones and drones are provided by an Arp Odyssey and a Korg Ms-20 The tracks where then recorded on to a 8 track real to real Akai X-1810d By the time the delayed Dub Fiction album came out in 2000 the duo had decided to go their separate ways and the project was abandoned. Letztes Jahr gab es schon einen kleinen Vorgeschmack auf diese LP in Form einer super-limitierten Split-7" mit der Hamburger Band Herrenmagazin. Mit dem dort vorab zu hörenden Stück ,Leben deklinieren" sind auf der neuen LP zwölf neue Stücke enthalten, die in den letzten drei Jahren entstanden sind. Weiter angereichert wird ,Spass allein genügt nicht mehr" mit zwei neu eingespielten Versionen von zwei Stücken (,Eventuell Morgen" und ,Sahnemund"), die schon von Compilations bekannt sein dürften und zuletzt gibt es anlässlich des 15-jährigen Bestehens mit ,Carlo" noch eine Neuaufnahme von der ersten Split-7" mit Pankzerkroiza Polpotkin. Aufgenommen und produziert in Zusammenarbeit mit Ronnie Henseler/Alien Network (Kommando Sonne-Nmilch u.a.) in Hamburg, mit welchem schon das ,Können gebratene Tauben fliegen?"-Album und die Klartext-7" aufgenommen wurde. Imagine 100,000 drummers taking a break from a wank to practice drums in the basement of their parents' house. Everybody hates a drummer. Drummers all feel it. But drummers seem to love each other. Nobody knows why - or nobody bothers to ask them. Man Forever decided to sally forth to unknown climes - be it a moon landing - in the lunar module or orbiting in the commandmodule- who the F cares. Kid Millions wrote and recorded a piece in February of 2010 with a little help from his friends.Then he got the stupidest idea in the world: play this stuff live; take this shit on tour. He was bewildered by the enthusiasm of his admired compatriots. The drummers all came from the country without borders - the land of the helpless rats crawling around desperately in search of a scrap of PASSION, INNOVATION, ROCK, ENERGY, ACTION. They found it themselves. People don't "found" movements for nothing anyway. They found themselves and decided to create this twisted gnarled mass of a cataract to play live. Cut to Bloomington: the heart of the rock science movement and the home of the patrons of this project. Those wise men and women hosted the performance you now hold in your hands. Man Forever was just arriving in the lunar orbit. The module's detached and descending to the surface. Some of them are out of contact with mission control. The rats are scurrying everywhere now. It's time to get your head right.

Xray Eyeballs is the brainchild of O.J. San Felipe. Originally from San Francisco, O.J. landed in Brooklyn in 2000 after numerous cross-country adventures. Upon settling, O.J. quickly cemented himself in the underground Brooklyn punk, noise, and indie scene playing in numerous bands including Golden Triangle (Mexican Summer, Hardly Art). While Golden Triangle is known as an all around party band that bashes out garage pop tunes that could easily be found on a Nuggets compilation, O.J. had something else in mind for Xray Eyeballs. Starting as a solo project, O.J. aimed to make pop songs that kids could remember after leaving the party. O.J. explains, "I just wanted to make every song sound like a lullaby." These songs are filled with dreamy pop hooks and melancholic melodies, covered in a spooky haze.

Wild Nothing, is the solo-project of Jack Tatum whose music is inspired by a longtime love affair with nostalgia. His debut full length album, Gemini, set to come out on Captured Tracks this spring, is full of dreamy, carefree synth-pop songs that linger with an inexplicable sense of regret. Prior to embarking on this recent solo-project Tatum sang and played guitar with the Abe Vigodaish tropical punk band Facepaint and the singer/songwriter project Jack and The Whale. In the summer of 2009 The Virginia tech-college student decided to embark on his first creative-solo project playing bass, guitar, synthesizer and drums while recording in his home-studio. He soon emerged with a unique brand of dreamy pop-songs influenced by bands like, My Bloody Valentine, Shop Assistants, Go-Betweens and Cocteau Twins. In 2009 he delivered a memorable cover of the Kate Bush song Cloudbusting, making it clear that Wild Nothing transcended the lo-fi pop-mold. On his debut album, Gemini, Tatum's frail vocals come warped in an oozing neon haze. Carefully orchestrated synth-pop arrangements, trebly guitar riffs and tattered drum machines blend together to create an intriguing,texturally rich glo-pop album that could come only from the young at heart.

From Tooting, South West London, DIGNAN PORCH started as the home recording project of Joe Walsh, who pretty much as soon as he created a Myspace account, got asked by revered NY label Captured Tracks to put out a single. This became the ninety second slacker-psyche-pop mini anthem 'On a Ride', which also featured on Merok Records 'Dont Die Wondering' compilation. The single was followed swiftly by the release of their home made LP 'Tendrils', also on Captured Tracks. In July they released new track Surge on a now sold out 4 way split 7" with Colours, Cheatahs and Not Cool. For their new EP 'Deluded' Dignan have stepped into a studio with the full band, plus Henry Withers from Lovvers / Human Hair working the desk. Four tracks (Yards, Stream, Like it Was Again and Footsteps in Snow) recorded in the studio and 4 tracks were again home-recorded by Joe, on his Tascam 8 Track, though having now honed his skills somewhat, the tracks sound brighter and less fuzz-swamped than the early stuff.

In the cold and dreary winter of 2009, alone in his bedroom and hidden from the darkness of the world outside Justin Paul Vallesteros had begun working on something that would change his life forever. What began as a couple notes played in experimentation soon transformed into vibrant melodies that soon shook Vallesteros' musical foundation to the core. Guitar chords laced over pulse sating synth melodies and drum rhythms was a departure from Justin's previous work; he began to create the dreamy nostalgic pop music that is Craft Spells. Justin is a California native who now finds residence in the mid-size town of Stockton, the heart of California. Craft Spells is the epitome of the recent uprising of the DIY music scene. Coming from a place not known for its musical history or impact on music culture it seemed destined for Craft Spells to stay as a bedroom pop project with no final destination in sight. But soon the shear amount of blog volume his work began to generate was unimaginable. Sites like Weekly Tape Deck, Pasta Primavera, No Modest Bear and Pitchfork's Forkcast took notice and thus began the never ending worldwide posting and re-posting on blog after blog of Craft Spells. "Blank Dogs is a one-man enterprise that within the space of approximately one year has somehow managed to release a dozen or so releases; On Two Sides has previously done the rounds thanks to physical releases on Fuck It Tapes and Troubleman, suggesting this Brooklynite is hanging out in all the right crowds. As for the music itself, it's all very much conceived in a lo-fi dungeon, piling on the no-def fuzz and drum machine beats in a manner that's likely to register favourably on the barometer of hipness. NIKI AND THE DOVE is a band from Stockholm, Sweden with two members, Malin Dahlström and Gustaf Karlöf. Their songs are full of magic and light but with an unsettling darkness hidden beneath the surface. It's pop music but a world away from the production line aesthetics of much modern chart music. Since getting together in February 2010, Malin and Gustaf have been busy writing together, figuring out just how pop music works and then discovering new ways to break it. Their first single "DJ, Ease My Mind"/"Under the Bridges" released on leading UK independent label Moshi Moshi, was one of the most striking debuts of the year, catching the attention of everyone from Artrocker and NME through to The Sunday Times, who declared the single could "be the two greatest alt-pop songs of 2010."Newly signed to the Sub Pop label this 12" single for "The Fox" is NIKI AND THE DOVE's first release on Sub Pop. A full-length album will follow in late 2011 or early 2012.
