'In `All This and So Much More' Tasha is an artist flung open. For Tasha, the last few yearshave been propulsive, dynamic, bursting at the seams. They've included painful encounterswith grief; a sudden break up; new flirtation; new hair; the glitter of world travel and not least,a role in Tony-nominated Broadway musical `Illinoise' which adapts Sufjan Steven's `Illinois'for the stage. If `Tell Me What You Miss The Most' was an introspective meditation on lovewith a few moments of glancing toward what's next, `All this and So Much More' is Tashaturned outward, flourishing, telling us what it's like to take life by the chin and look it in theeye.Take, for example "Eric Song." This was the first song to be written on the album, pennedwhile Tasha grappled with the sudden, tragic death of Eric Littman, the co-producer of herlast album. Though the instrumentation is a familiar 3/4 guitar strum, lulling us into acomforting waltz, Tasha's voice is breathy with grief, adding depth and dimension to thehushed sound. "No, I'm not alone after all / You must be near / Facing this soaring sprawl,"she sings, transforming the experience of loss into a talisman of love and courage meant tohelp usher in a new self.Said a different way, `All This and So Much More' is a full-throated ode to all of the ups anddowns of becoming. In the opening track, "Pretend," when Tasha sings about "feelingsoutgrowing this little life," we get the sense, both lyrically and sonically, of someone in thethroes of growth. This is an album crafted with a big, ambitious sound (in part, thanks to theproduction of Gregory Uhlmann)_cinematic droning, orchestral woodwinds, dazzling arrays ofjangling guitar, all lining up to capture a sweeping moment in Tasha's life. Written over thecourse of 2022 and 2023, right on the cusp of Tasha being cast in Illinoise, the songs in thisalbum invoke friendship, heart ache, flirtation, doubt. Sunset Rubdown are set to release their fourth studio album_the first in fifteen years!_Always Happy To Explode.Twenty years ago Spencer Krug began using the name Sunset Rubdown for his solo bedroom recordings, experiments too low-fi and odd for what was then a blossoming Wolf Parade, but by 2005 Sunset Rubdown had evolved into a full band, with Michael Doerksen, Jordan Robson-Cramer, and Camilla Wynne joining Krug on stage and in the studio. The band recorded their third critically-acclaimed album, Dragon Slayer, in Chicago in 2008, then went on to play their last show in Tokyo in 2009, with the implicit knowledge it was their last. They broke up quietly, their certitude that they'd never reunite growing as the years rolled on. Then one night more than a dozen years after their final show Krug had a dream (he really did) that the band reunited, and the first thing he did upon awakening was email the band to see if the dream might be made real. The answer was a resounding yes, and soon enough Sunset Rubdown was onstage again. The first show in fourteen years was in Montreal, where they had formed so long ago. The tour was a success, most crucially in terms of having fun, the main condition of their continued pursuits. This fun was thanks in no small part to their blithesome new member, bassist Nicholas Merz. And thus they decided to make a new album together.The record is composed of nine songs cherry-picked from demos that Krug has been posting to his Patreon page over recent years, with the songs in many cases being pared down from their previous incarnations, yet no less lush. Being a band is no easy feat, perhaps especially as members age and spread across the continent, but it certainly is a privilege. With Always Happy to Explode, Sunset Rubdown have made something that captures their gratitude and the energy of their joyous (and sometimes difficult) reunion.

And then there’s the chest-thumping “International,” a straight-up slapper with hard-hitting rhymes from Kool G. Rap, Tristate, and Joell Ortiz. Lovers of Italo disco music will consider Cyber People as one of the most important acts in its scene. The Space-synth sound Cyber people brought in the mid 80’s, was highlighted by their 1985 ‘Void Vision’ release, which became a hit both in Europe, as well as in South America. On top of that, Cyber People paved the road for acts like Koto, Laserdance and Hipnosis, just to name a few. Cyber People were disbanded though in 1988, but left behind a series of most important Italo Disco records.

Now, build on the ashes of the former and legendary ‘Memory Records label from Parma – Italy, Memix International is pleased to announce its return, and the return of Cyber People. In its original form, headed again by the Maestro Giorgio “Theo” Spagna himself, as leader of the pack, with a tribute to Anfrando Maiola, the founding father of Mamory Records’ most important act, Koto, who left us in 2023.

As a tribute, Anfrando’s “Dragon’s Legend” get’s a complete new overhaul by Cyber People, respecting its original structure, concept and spirit, bringing it however into the 21st century.

Besides the almost 8-and-a-half-minute tribute of Dragon’s legend on the MEM-side, on the MIX-side you will find the DJ friendly ‘DJ DUB’, bringing you the compact essential of ‘Dragon’s Legend’ for any up-to-date Italian Disco set. (And if you want to call it Italo Disco, that’s perfectly fine with us too!)

With this release, Memix International continues where it’s predecessor stopped in 1989. Paves the road into a new era, and pays with this rerelease it’s respect to Anfrando Maiola and his Koto releases , such with full support from his heir.

With this release Memix International also brings a tribute to Alessandro Porta, the great Italian designer and visual artist, whose heirs were as kind to participate also, and made one of Alessandro’s drawings available for the sleeve of this unique release. It was Porta who was, on many occasions, responsible for the characteristic artwork of various Koto releases and, all together it will for sure make this release a well sought item which comes in a strictly limited edition of 500 units, so distributed on a ‘first to come, first to serve’ basis. Expected release and shipment: end of September/begin of October 2024.

On Savor Music 025, we summoned a fine selection of remixers to rework Franco Cinelli's "Tracks from the Vault Part 2."

"Tribute To Miles Davis," where Cinelli merges jazz and electronic elements into a hypnotic sonic journey was reinterpreted by Chicago Legend DJ Jes adding a trippier, loose house interpretation, infusing the track with an extra jazzy twist while maintaining its original spirit. Pablo Minuto & Guillermo de Caminos made a minimalistic take on the same cut, transforming the track into a groovy, hypnotic experience with a focus on rhythmic and atmospheric elements.

"Electronic Funk" original’s pulsating bassline, crisp percussion, and intertwining synth melodies are further enriched in Jorge Savoretti’s remix, which introduces an extra layer of synth action, giving the track’s a deeper interpretation.

Through X Scroll Era, Gabo Barranco, aka Aaaa, conducts a rigorous overhaul of the aesthetics and statements of low-profile IDM, trance, and progressive-acid music typical of the early 2000’s. In addition to this inherent and undeniable veneration for the era, the pieces on this album — which originated from recordings and experimental exercises with gear and accidentally became an album — serve also as a kind of retrospective inspection of Mexico City's suburbs (Lomas de Sotelo), with landscapes full of indiscriminate concrete, highways of two and three levels, factories, and parking lots that have supplanted nature with their own detached beauty. It is a sound memory, a specific melancholy that praises skate squads of the area, friends from the past, parties, and substances. It reviews the decline of rave culture but also its resilience and capacity for transformation. What Aaaa offers us with X Scroll Era is an almost multigenerational soundtrack, a memory that feels collective and recollects euphoria, ecstasy, and nostalgia.

After several LPs and EPs (Acid Test, Omnidisc, Janushoved) and several years active in the dance and contemplative electronic music circuit (mutek, Berghain, iii Points, Rbma), X Scroll Era is the first album by Gabo Barranco, aka Aaaa, published on the Mexican label Umor Rex.
