Written and recorded in Spring 2011 at Andy's grandmother's Chicago-area house while she was away on vacation, Gauntlet Hair is a subtle refinement of the sounds we've come to associate with the band - the trunk-rattling bass; the ecstatic, tinny post-punk guitar; the din of ecstasy. But what was once simply jarring in its audacity is now also bursting with new colors. It's music made with the sole purpose of losing yourself - both mind and body - inside of it. From Tooting, South West London, DIGNAN PORCH started as the home recording project of Joe Walsh, who pretty much as soon as he created a Myspace account, got asked by revered NY label Captured Tracks to put out a single. This became the ninety second slacker-psyche-pop mini anthem 'On a Ride', which also featured on Merok Records 'Dont Die Wondering' compilation. The single was followed swiftly by the release of their home made LP 'Tendrils', also on Captured Tracks. In July they released new track Surge on a now sold out 4 way split 7" with Colours, Cheatahs and Not Cool. For their new EP 'Deluded' Dignan have stepped into a studio with the full band, plus Henry Withers from Lovvers / Human Hair working the desk. Four tracks (Yards, Stream, Like it Was Again and Footsteps in Snow) recorded in the studio and 4 tracks were again home-recorded by Joe, on his Tascam 8 Track, though having now honed his skills somewhat, the tracks sound brighter and less fuzz-swamped than the early stuff.

In the cold and dreary winter of 2009, alone in his bedroom and hidden from the darkness of the world outside Justin Paul Vallesteros had begun working on something that would change his life forever. What began as a couple notes played in experimentation soon transformed into vibrant melodies that soon shook Vallesteros' musical foundation to the core. Guitar chords laced over pulse sating synth melodies and drum rhythms was a departure from Justin's previous work; he began to create the dreamy nostalgic pop music that is Craft Spells. Justin is a California native who now finds residence in the mid-size town of Stockton, the heart of California. Craft Spells is the epitome of the recent uprising of the DIY music scene. Coming from a place not known for its musical history or impact on music culture it seemed destined for Craft Spells to stay as a bedroom pop project with no final destination in sight. But soon the shear amount of blog volume his work began to generate was unimaginable. Sites like Weekly Tape Deck, Pasta Primavera, No Modest Bear and Pitchfork's Forkcast took notice and thus began the never ending worldwide posting and re-posting on blog after blog of Craft Spells. The sound is led by Justin's blissful voice, backed behind beautiful guitar melodies over heavenly synths, pop basslines and looped rhythms. Captured Tracks has released 7" single for the song "Party Talk" and will release the debut album "Idle Labor".

As for the music itself, it's all very much conceived in a lo-fi dungeon, piling on the no-def fuzz and drum machine beats in a manner that's likely to register favourably on the barometer of hipness. At its best the record delivers wafer-thin new wave jams like 'Meltdown Cloud' (like an emaciated Jay Reatard record) or Cure-style pop like 'Blaring Speeches', and it's certainly worth your while ploughing through all that grime and distortion to get to all this jagged excitement." - Boomkat

Aias are Gaia, Laia and Miriam. Gaia sings and plays guitar. Laia sings and plays drums and Miriam sings and plays bass. And the three together they try to make songs for anyone else to sing. Pop with distortion, lots of "oooos" and vocal harmonies in in a cave with endless ceilings sung in their native Catalan (not Spanish, mind you!) Aias began as a birthday party band and by surprise ended up being a band for real, or at least that's their current intention. The desire to win in the fight against the instrument itself, the need to shout a bit during the week, a Vivian Girls concert during the Primavera Sound Festival and the providential intervention of Cristian Pallejà (Nisei, Sedaiós) lead to a home made recording in a village lost in Catalonia and an unexpected winter signing with the New York Label, Captured tracks.

Sabattis were an underground hard-rock band from New York formed in 1968 by Jim Marvin (guitar & lead vocals), Gary Culotta (keyboard and vocals), Larry Wegman (drums) and Rocky Kaler (bass).

Influenced by bands like Deep Purple, Mountain and Grand Funk, they gigged around town playing lot of psychedelic clubs and venues. In 1970, they recorded a demo with the intention of securing a record deal which never came. The demo tape was in fact a fully finished album recorded and engineered by a friend from the band, Mick Gauzaski, who despite using a homemade studio, managed to obtain a real pro sound. No wonder Mick is now a multiple winner Grammy award!

The Sabattis demo remained unreleased until 2011 when Jargon Records discovered the tapes and put out a CD edition with the band involvement.
So we're proud to present a new reissue of "Warning In The Sky", remastered from the original tapes and including an insert with rare photos and liner notes by Klemen Breznikar (It's Psychedelic Baby)

Sabbatis sound is powerful heavy-psych sound with swirling Hammond organ and hard guitar which brings to mind other obscure acts like Jungle.

Take the 101 north out of Los Angeles, and you'll pass by Agoura Hills, where the core duo of the band Dub Thompson grew up. Whatever you see in that town won't readily prepare you for the music they wrote while there, but you're free to look."Most everyone who's in a group who's our age lives on the Internet," says guitarist Matt Pulos. "The kinds of things that have shaped our band aren't anchored to any one time or place."Pulos and his bandmate, drummer Evan Laffer, are currently both 19 years old, and are putting that line of thought to the test; their musical influences travel from the Midwestern malaise of Big Black and Pere Ubu, to Kraut pioneers Can and Kraftwerk, while bowing to the British belligerence of The Fall and This Heat.Recording the album while living with Foxygen's Jonathan Rado at his rented house in Bloomington, the band had its first taste of a heavy Indiana summer, and all the humidity and insect life that buzzes along with it. No doubt you know the name Mort Garson from his myriad writing, conducting, and arranging credits, topping a thousand in total: the Kim Sisters, Gi Sönne, Lola Novakovic, Pfc. Craig Brown, Emilio Pericoli. Or failing that, his sides for Patti Page, Mel Tormé, Rosemary Clooney, Percy Faith, and Mr. Magoo himself. Which is to say, Mort Garson's road to cool cultural caché and the sublimity of Plantasia meant a decades' long journey through an underworld of sophisticated, international, string-laced dreck (ie, your great-grandparents' record collection) to arrive at Music From Patch Cord Productions, this set of queasy-listening you now hold. Juilliard-educated and active as a session player in the post-war era, Garson seemingly never said no in the decades ahead. You could say he was an early adopter to the gig economy, taking any and every job that came his way. He cranked out lounge hits, scored plush arrangements, rendered jingles and TV themes and more, from the late 1940s into the swinging `60s. As his daughter Day Darmet put it: "The joke about my dad is he would wake up and work all day until dinner. He would eat dinner, then take a 2-hour nap, then work all through the night again. He was constantly on it." That meant putting those weeping countrypolitan strings around Glen Campbell's "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," making the Simon & Garfunkel catalog sound even more mellow, and making guitar duo Santo & Johnny cover a slew of Beatles' hits. His charts made Doris Day's Sentimental Journey even more deliriously mawkish. Garson's penned hit "Our Day Will Come" moved from Ruby and the Romantics to elevate to the ranks of standard: James Brown, Amy Winehouse, k.d. lang, Isaac Hayes, Tony Joe White, Max Romeo, Yasuaki Shimizu have all covered the song.At the point in life when a 40-year-old man might undergo a midlife crisis, Garson had a transformation of another sort. Damon McMahon (aka Amen Dunes) chose to hold the main recording sessions in Montreal with Dave Bryant and Efrim Menuck of Godspeed You! Black Emperor. In addition to recording the sessions that McMahon produced, members of Godspeed also played on several of the songs, along with Colin Stetson on saxophone and Elias Bender-Ronnenfelt of Iceage, who duets with McMahon on two tracks. The result is definitively the most substantial Amen Dunes record to date. These are elemental songs about time, love and memory, as much about the listener as they are about the writer: pure, open, and beautiful.

"Before he developed into a star composer and arranger, Tom Scott was an ambitious 19 year-old saxophonist looking for his big break in 1967.
