Norway’s most far out and unique prog band Tusmørke is back – this time with another children’s album about artificial intelligence, advancements in technology, the singularity – and ancient Mesopotamian gods, because Tusmørke never fails to teach us about the ancient forgotten history. Intetnett tells a story about two evil scientists who plant a self-teaching computer system on an unsuspecting school. The system called Intetnett soon takes over the minds of pupils and teachers alike - exept for a technofobic Norwegian teacher, a substitute without login info and a small group of pupils. By using electronic impulses, the computer controls an ant colony living in the school kitchen, and starts taking control of everything. The world then slips slowly into a totalitarian nightmare. No one thinks by themselves, no one dreams anymore, and human culture itself is in danger. But someone is missing the humans! Down in the deepest depths, the old Mesopotamian gods are starving by lack of human attention. They want to help humankind to regain their freedom. The only thing that can stop Intetnett is technology from a bygone time: Magic! The Norwegian teacher, the substitute and the children are given instructions about how to summon a golem who can confront Intetnett, and pull the plug on the dangerous computers. The album is comprised of the two original musicals “Intetnett” and “Når Enden er Golem”, written for and first performed at Aktivitetsskolen Nordstrand in 2017/2018.

A new record from Turnover arrives this fall. Myself in the Way is the band's fifth full-length album, and it follows their first pause in consistent touring in almost 10 years. While the world was shut down, Turnover's four bandmates spent time meditating, painting, volunteer firefighting, skateboarding, and working in state parks - deepening interests and growing roots in places they hadn't been able to while living life on the road for so long. Over 18 months, these individual experiences acted as the soil in which Myself in the Way grew into Turnover's next album. Returning to Pennsylvania to track with longtime friend and producer Will Yip, vocalist & guitarist Austin Getz cites Quincy Jones, Chic, and Dark Side of the Moon as influences in the way that songs like the infectiously-rhythmic "Ain't Love Heavy" and the trippy, disorienting "Tears of Change" feel wider, deeper and more whole than anything in the band's catalog to date. Drummer Casey Getz' new skills behind the drum set that open up songs on Myself in the Way to more improvisation and fluidity, pairing well with bassist Dan Dempsey's infectious bass-lines and Nick Rayfield's sharpened guitar and piano playing. On Myself in the Way, Turnover's creative vision takes center- stage in every way. The album's cover art - a sparkling array of multicolored gems scattered across a neutral canvas - was painted during lockdown by Dempsey. Music videos for the record were directed and filmed by the band, including the dizzy "Wait Too Long" video shot on retreat in upstate New York with friends and collaborators Kyle Lamb and Blair Kemp. Austin's increased involvement on the production side earned him his first-ever co-producer credit, and Nick Rayfield contributed a new perspective as a songwriter for the first time in the recording process. For a band that has never stopped evolving, Turnover has always remained authentic with every release. Myself in the Way is an achievement that ties new and exciting ideas in with the band's unique artistic ambition.

2022 sees Turin Brakes release their ninth studio album - Wide-Eyed Nowhere. Of Wide-Eyed Nowhere the band say 'We surprised ourselves with what came out; a sweeter, groovier set of songs in no hurry to be anything but themselves. The South London 4-Piece comprising Olly Knights, Gale Paridjanian, Rob Allum and Eddie Myer recorded this new set of songs at Twin Palms - Olly's garden studio - over the summer of 2021, choosing to let time infuse into the music and mature in a way it couldn't in a pressurised commercial studio setting. 'Friends would visit, kids would add a voice or two, bees would buzz and we'd get to sit in the South London sun while the music poured out of the speakers and floated across the lawn. During the summer youth program of 1970 and '71 at St Paul's Catholic church a young Tunnie Smith was singled out by Father George Artist for his outstanding singing abilities. He was soon introduced to Joe Delpit and Reginal Brown to sing along with their show and dance band "The 13Th Amendments. It didn't take long before Tunnie was a full member of the band and became a featured singer performing throughout Louisiana. After a year and a half of performing at nightclubs, military bases and universities Tunnie landed a record deal with Rick Hall's Fame/UA record label. His first single from 1973 was a wonderful mid-tempo number entitled "Finders Aren't Always Keepers" flipped with "Do That To Me" It gained National distribution and had some good success. Tunnie left Fame records and was introduced to Stax record executives Al Bell and John Smith. After signing with Stax Tunnie met legendary writer and performer David Porter where they recorded an album which was scheduled for release around 73/74.Unfortunately Staxs association with CBS came to a halt and the project got shelved. Tunnie went home and carried on performing around the Louisiana area with his new band Sweet Music Orchestra" Fast forward to 1983 Tunnie whilst recording some vocals at River City Recording met Chicago producer and arranger George "Paco" Patterson. George was musical director and had worked with The Isley Brothers Wilson Pickett and many other well known artists. During this period Tunnie along with George formed a great partnership and along with some top session musicians record some incredibly lush, well produced and atmospheric songs The A Side "Dancing On Da Cloud" kicks of with female backing vocals and cascading strings layered over each other to create a full bodied 2 Step Rare Groove classic, which we can only compare in the highest esteem to an out take from Marvin Gaye or Leon Ware. It oozes sheer class with rasping horns and Tunnie showing he hasn't lost any of the singing prowess he got singled out for as a young boy in1971. "I Found A Miracle" is a slightly slower affair than the A side but still kicks a punch. It starts with pounding drums and again those cascading strings whilst Tunnie's scatting vocals flow until the verse arrives. It is a powerful beat ballad-esque song that sits perfectly back to back with "Dancing On Da Cloud." We at Super Disco Edits are very excited to be able to bring you the first instalment of Mr Tunnie Smith!

Chewie, real name Nestor Estrada, is a guitarist and music producer native to Los Angeles, California. Producing and composing music for over a decade, he’s also the lead sound designer at Output, a software instrument company. Chewie produced Samus & Chill with Logic Pro using custom-built synthesizers, orchestral sound libraries, and vast textures created from his eurorack and guitar. While Chewie’s been a guitarist most of his life, his piano chops also shine through across the album.

Samus & Chill features 12 tracks from the Metroid game series, including tracks from Metroid, Super Metroid, Fusion, Prime, Prime 3, Other M, and Samus Returns. Compositions by Hirokazu Tanaka, Kouichi Kyuma, Kenji Yamamoto, Minako Hamano, Masaru Tajima, and Akira Fujiwara. Compositions are licensed and used with permission.

The “Tumult Hands” duet is made by Jacek Sienkiewicz and Jerzy Przezdziecki - the producers whose composition has - to a large extent- defined the Polish techno music. Sienkiewicz - as early as Recognition - started his adventure with music in the late 1990s. Subsequent records, already under his own name, were released, among others, at Cocoon Records, Trapez, Klang Elektronik and WMFRec. Przezdziecki started publishing a little later. Over the last two decades, he has been presenting various types of electronic music, among others, as Praecox, Epi Centrum and Jurek Przezdziecki. “Tumult Hands” has two EPs on its account – “Tumult Hands EP” (2014) and “Tropic Factory” (2016). Both were published by Recognition. So a full record was a matter of time. The album titled: “th” (Recognition, 2022) has been prepared for many years. The repertoire was created mainly out of improvisation. As artists themselves say, “it is the result of discovering and accepting a chance event.” For both producers, close contact with instruments was important during their composition; the type of interaction between the maker and an electronic device. Individual works have been maturing for a long time. Paradoxically - the lapse of time did not cause them to be ageing but vice versa - allowed them to mature and gain natural weight. “th” brings very diverse music. In part, it is the repayment of the debt that Sienkiewicz and Przezdziecki incurred towards the most creative techno period, that is, the 90s of the 20th century. The lovers of experimental dance music from before the quarter of the century will easily capture in the duet’s themes the art of Cristian Vogel, producers known from the tin series of Chain Reaction record company or early recordings of Richie Hawtin (Plastikman, F.U.S.E.). This is a very similar, non-standard approach to sound structure and an original approach to rhythmic structures. Minimalist melodies, accompanying e.g. the opening of the “enter TH” or “pow” set, contribute to the composition an element of some sublimity and metaphysical anxiety. Obviously, it is still the dance music but the duet - to some extent by abandoning the club functionality (understood in the techno convention) - has given its music a definitely sophisticated, artistic elegance. Publishing cooperation between such important makers, as well as high quality of recordings, leads us to see “th” as something more than just another techno record. It is an event and an electronic adventure that all lovers looking for dance music will appreciate.

At long last we’re happy to bring you the release of Tulu & Wimpy Fly Like A Cucumber. This full-length record was recorded in 2014 at Electric Cave Studio in Portsmouth, NH by Scott Gildersleeve (aka Tulu) Jack Hayes (aka Wimpy), and Marc McElroy. Gildersleeve and Hayes, along with Joe King, were the original members of the infamous punk rock band The Queers who formed in the early 1980’s. Gildersleeve and Hayes also played together in the Boston-based band The Monsignors in the late 1980’s. Tulu and Wimpy Fly Like a Cucumber contains new songs written by Scott Gildersleeve, and recorded in 2014 by Gildersleeve, Hayes and McElroy, as well as some unreleased and remixed songs by the Monsignors. Tragically, in early 2015, within a few weeks of the completion of these recordings, Scott Gildersleeve aka Tulu... left us... hopefully to a better place than this world. “But finally, I am able to release this truly outstanding record, that I had the pleasure of being able to create with my best friend. In The 1970s, Tucker Zimmerman made some low-key acoustic guitar records in England. He was raised in Caifornia, and sang like it. And between those two circumstances, Zimmerman happens to have sat in with a whole lotta famous people; The Spiders From Mars, guys from Yes & Traffic & T Rex, Mary Hopkin, Paul Butterfield, Aynsley Dunbar, Ricky Fataar, and plenty more. The seriously famous are always moving along to whatever's new. But Zimmerman has kept his hand in. There were a couple records in the 80s, an interest in novels and words, one in the 90s, an 00s collaboration with another American expat who works on the Belgian version of The Voice, etc. Now he has a new record for the teens. Of himself reading poetry no less. And that is exactly the sort of project that could easily degenerate into the underground dude's answer to a Stan Lee cameo. The reason it doesn't is less about the words chosen (though they're fine) and more about the obvious lived grit in the mucinex-wracked glottis that is Zimmerman's voice these days. The sensitive folk rocker has given way to a grizzled gentleman. Zimmerman is more confident as his 77 years and sounds like a paisley Sam Elliott who spends days wandering outside dispensing advice to clouds & dogs. Zimmerman has also found a precise complement in accompanist Josh Burkett, whose life reads like an indie update to the performer Zimmerman was in the 70s. Joshua Burkett runs a record store in Western Mass, and has been a heavy in interesting underground projects of one sort or another for roughly 30 years (vermonster, Bimbo Shrineheads, Tarp, playing with Ed Askew, & his array of solo records). The seams are allowed to show on these recordings. You can hear Zimmerman stop and go back to correct himself, and the sound levels vary. That puts things firmly in the contemporary camp, ensuring that this ain't no greatest hits that never were. In fact, Josh nips in with his acoustic guitar so subtly, and gets the rhythm of each talking point so just right so that the two performers dovetail again and again. True to its name, Fd013 feels like a mixtape in its delivery, but has a depth and refinement that's difficult to find. Instrumental hip hop of this quality may well have disappeared from the underground but Tuck Chains has successfully iterated on a style guaranteed to bring blunted energy.

"Lock Down", the opening track, quickly sets the scene with metallic and saturated drums. Interspersed with surgical sample chops, the track oscillates between lively and chill after an almost musique concrète sounding intro. This contrast between straight and faded becomes a theme of the album, with moments of intensification punctuating the mellow.

Tracks like "Chrome and Glass" balance fizzy snares, rumbling low end and stabby piano hits to take you on a slow motion coastal journey, while "Ewan Hughes-Army" has an erratic and head-nodding feel that demands your attention. Warbly, downtempo tape vibes feature throughout the release, a combination ripe for repeated, couch-bound listens. With this in mind, "Spanish" feels like the perfect closer - the type of track that oozes sun and THC. Let this be the soundtrack to your hazy holiday.

French artist Trudge returns to Lobster Theremin with his debut LP No More Motivation arriving on March 18th with a genre-bending and original masterstroke; charged as it is cerebral. The album's concept points to the artist's tumultuous relationship with music; plagued by life events and the looming shadow of tragedy. That same relationship however, has led to an album of nuance, a cathartic whirlwind that pushes and pulls from one part of the psyche to the next.

From the laden house sounds found in his earlier work, to the hard-hitting emotive techno we hear today, both Trudges’ personal and artistic evolution runs parallel, drawing between the lines of introspection and dance music’s modern functionality. Bangkok Radio kicks off proceedings with a reminiscent drive through the city's bustling landscape, as space unfolds the further we travel from the hustle and bustle of daily life. No Motivation, Meaningless is a nod to the producer's headspace - burdened by the unpredictability of reality and it’s governing influence on art; echoing throughout the entire album.

Mazzomba explores the duality of light and dark; heavily submerged sounds can be heard melting below the surface, as airy synths create an ethereal glow - acting as our torch through the crud-infested trench. The album's interlude Berserk provides a rest bite, an ambient dreamscape laced with deeply layered textures - casting warm fluorescent light amongst the clouds as balance is restored.

Dead Orange and Gradient demonstrate the artist's knact for intelligent sound-design and world-building soundscapes, while Unghosted and Punishments sees Trudge venture into raw and unwavering compositions created for the dance-floor. Closing the album is Blue Ritual, a thought-provoking piece that has the ability to transport and heal. It’s introspective layers point to the changing winds to come - rounding off an album not binded by genre, but an eclecticism that characterizes an artist true to his craft.

The new record by Tropa Macaca brings together two pieces, Animais Sintéticos and Aerossol, which were previously presented in an exhibition context, at gnration in Braga and at Pada in Barreiro, in the years 2022 and 2020, respectively. Both exhibitions, which took the title of the pieces, presented themselves as immersive installations that allied music to Joana da Conceição's paintings and videos. These two exhibitions are different pacts between the audible and the visible, and of both with the world.

Animais Sintéticos, gnration, Braga, 2022 The exhibition Animais Sintéticos exists like a landscape, the kind we remember when we are not there, alive, but suspended inside us. Enigmatic for us who created them, they accompany us, and if we imagine that one day they had a beginning, an original referent outside of us, the time they have already spent with us forces us to doubt that this is so. Time has uprooted them, torn them from that place. We look closer, we reflect, we examine, we meditate, and when, as in a quantum leap, we originate what becomes there, we believe that it has always been there, that we have crossed the glass, that we have come close to the mystery. It is a landscape like this that is offered in this exhibition. One of those that say more about us than about the world, at a time when we already know what we already felt, that we are not the world. An exercise in quantum paleontology, where the painting, the music, and the moving image are echoes of this place we inhabit, between promise and ruin. A confrontation, in the form of an elegy, in search of reconciliation.

Trondheim Voices is a groundbreaking Norwegian ensemble of improvising vocalists, constantly challenging and changing the framework for how a vocal ensemble can produce sound art. Each singer's individuality, and her timbre combined with the other voices, are in focus, resulting in a unique quality to the groups collective sound. Through their many collaborations with cutting edge composers like Christian Wallumrod, Marilyn Mazur, Jon Balke, Mats Gustavsson and Maja Ratkje, they have made solid statements as developers within vocal and improvised music. Trondheim Voices are exploring and developing new music in the interaction between the singers, the audience, their surroundings and new technology. Christian Wallumrod has worked as a musician and composer since 1992, and he is considered one of the most prominent and influential musicians of his generation in Norway. Following his debut on ECM Records ("No Birch", 1996), he has released a string of albums with Christian Wallumrod Ensemble (CWE) on the same label, all to considerable critical acclaim. The album "Outstairs" (2013) was awarded the Norwegian Grammy's (Spellemannprisen). Brutter (2012), Christian's collaboration with drummer brother Fredrik, has released three albums (Hubro). Hubro is also the home for albums with CWE and Dans Les Arbres, as well as Wallumrod's solo piano records Pianokammer (2015) and Speaksome (2021). Wallumrod has written commissioned works for Ensemble Allegria, Håkon Stene, Oslo Strykekvartett, BOA and Trondheim Jazz Orchestra

Plastic Wave comes as the sequel to 2018's celebrated "Happy Endlings", where Ole Morten Vågan, one of the most sought-after bass players in Norway, collaborated with the unpredictable and creative Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, comprised of a sort of "who's who" in Norwegian jazz. Where "Happy Endlings" took the listener on a 72-minute-long ride on the edge of their seat through a myriad of innovation, chock, and surprises, "Plastic Wave" sees TJO & Vågan take their mischievous end time antics from the previous album to the next phase, in some sorts a musical excavation of the next evolutionary step - and the sequel is no less than 12 minutes longer. Titles such as Food Chain Reaction and Critical Mass Distraction are given extra momentum by Flu Hartberg ?s cover art, again a trusty companion for the music. Certainly one of the core figures in the beat scene of Sofia, Bulgaria, Bojidar Vasilev – Trombobby combines his long-time passion, the trombone, with peculiar beats for a truly contemporary sound. Studied jazz trombone at Conservatorium van Amsterdam, he’s also part of acts like Southwick, Dayo, and Android Ethics. Trombobby has played with and produced for numerous musicians in Bulgaria’s thriving soul, r&b, and instrumental hip hop scenes and also teaches music production at Sound Ninja Music Academy.

Born in New Brunswick, New Jersey, TromBobby’s collaborator on Pause vol 1 – Jermaine Holmes began embarking on his musical career at the age of four as a member of his grandfather’s choir of Mount Calvary Baptist church. Jermaine performs as lead singer for Pete Rock and The Soul Brothers, and appears alongside artists like Nicole Bus, Keyon Harrold and many others on albums and stages around the world. Previously he had become an active member of the group The Vanguard since 2012 with popular R&B/Soul artist D’Angelo.

4 years ago Bojidar Vasilev embarked on a journey that’s both solo and packed with friendships. Indebted to Dilla, Knxwledge, and a whole galaxy of influential beat makers, the the fresh-out-of-Amsterdam-studies musician released his debut album Run.

With more than 100k streams on all major DSPs, the world saw TromBobby solidifying his place in the production scene and another example for the rise of the producers as lead artists. While he was already a household name in the Bulgarian r&b / soul and instrumental scene, it was Run that put TromBobby on the path of self-discovery and growth as a musician.

TromBobby’s new approach is a juxtaposition to the Forest Gump inspiration behind Run (2018) and while running did save Forest before, this new record channels his last 4 years of experience and learnings into a more laid-back and grounded destination.

On his new EP, Pause VOL.1, Bojidar, now 27, expands his attitude to beat music with neo-soul, jazz and r&b elements, going beyond sampling and with focus on live instrumentation and vocals as a production element. All that designed to create complex multi-layered music with vast emotional horizons. The take-everything-from-life-and-don’t-stop-for-a-second energy is now transformed. Still there, but somehow matured due to the realization that you really need to focus on certain things in order to achieve your goals.

It is that focus that translated into TromBobby’s ever-growing desire to play more and more instruments. Something that’s not only evident in the album’s artwork and credits, but when experiencing his music live.

On the new record TromBobby manifests the 4 years of exploration and love for collaboration with friends and same-energy people. That leads him to crossing paths with Jermaine Holmes who is an active member of the group The Vanguard since 2012 with artist D’Angelo. Their 2 collaborative tracks “longing” and “tony’s Lament” don’t only cross borders, but genres and sensations.

A big leap forward to TromBobby is utilizing his singing abilities on “box OF Chocolates” and “sunday”. Being fearless is that Run energy that translates into Pause VOL.1 and what’s going to carry on in VOL.2.

In 1982 they elaborate a no-wave full of unrehearsed breaks and cavernous vocals. Boundless dark jamming sessions through shades, effects and reverbs always submerged by a tense nervous bassline. DNO hits double figures as Denver’s Trisicloplox & Sectra return with more industrial-strength electro-sludge. Trisicloplox follows with a brace of tracks. ‘Bruised’ does exactly what it says on the tin, gargantuan kicks pummelling layer upon layer of dense sound into an impenetrable wall of noise. Ritualistic rhythms and gluttonous amounts of overdrive swarm over distant wails, sending everything into a spiral into despair.On ‘Megastructure’, doom metal meets hip-hop, as rough-hewn drums crunch above a bassline that takes its cues from the Super Hans School of Electronic Music: “The longer the note, the more dread.” And finishing up the vinyl offerings is ‘Dead On Arrival’. Coming courtesy of Sectra, the most traditionally ‘club-focused’ effort of the lot sees a serrated breakbeat and venomous acid lick sparring over dissonant pads. As always, digital listeners are offered a little bonus, this time the only full collab: ‘The Dead InTheir Shrouds’. Shunted along by a systematic kick, the track’s jackhammer subs become all-consuming, seemingly sucking all the air from the room and hurling it back out of the bassbins in a violent frenzy.
