Heavy Psych Sounds is now reissuing this psychedelic gem in brand new coloured vinyls and digipak. With "Appalachian Incantation" marking a successfully reunion, ‘V’, containing eight tracks five instrumental -band’s well know formula- and three with vocals, puts another brick in the creative development on the part of the band. ‘47’,‘50’, ‘48’, ‘49’and ‘51’ are the five instrumentals . Heavy ball-breaking rock but also groovy songs which can easily get stuck in your head. Full of dirty and sludgy sounds, pretty technical but on the other hand delicious to the ear since they can be accessible to a wide audience. ’The Cynic’ and ‘Jimmy Dean’ are two of the three songs with vocals in this album. Vocals are by Daniel Davies from Year Long Disaster. Although ‘Karma To Burn’ is traditionally an instrumental stoner band, decided to include 3 non-instrumental songs in this album. The music of instrumental-folk quartet NRQ seems to defy categorization. Drawing their influences from styles as disparate as free jazz, Chinese folk songs, Calypso music, and the music of the Appalachians, every song presents a new twist or turn, and every album succeeds in defying expectations. Their third album, ‘was here’ saw the band welcome trumpeter and steel pan player MC. sirafu (The Natsuyasumi Band, Kataomoi, etc.), keyboard player Emerson Murakami (mmm, Kisel, etc.), and percussionist Okyon to create a sound quite unlike anything else they’ve ever done. The album was recorded exclusively with vintage tape machines, and the result is a warm, analog sound, with just the barest amount of hiss gently enveloping each track. Long awaited new album of our rock legend

After almost ten years since the release of “Sto roku na ceste” (One Hundred Years on the Road), here is a compilation of thirteen recordings by this year’s jubilant singer, musician, composer etc. Michal Prokop. Twelve original tracks and one cover version feature Prokop and his band Framus Five in a classic line-up, complete with extraordinary guests – and in great form.

Logically, nothing changes in the essence of the blues-based electric songwriting. The principle of a uniquely sung, melodically strong and carefully chosen-worded repertoire is once again a given. Seven times Michal Prokop himself, but also Lubos Andrst, Jan Hruby or Martin Nemec added new music, and the unreleased legacy of Petr Skoumal was also included. The already existing texts by Pavel srut, Zdenek Rytir and Jiri zacek were supplemented by Michal Bulir, Tomas Rorecek, Milan sasek, Martin Nemec and Jan Lacina. A special bonus is Jezek’s, Voskovec’s and Werich’s “Svet naruby” (World upside down), reminding us of the fate of the censor’s deleted recording from 1969 and the permanent validity of the old song.

Pleasant echoes of American rock, not just the violins demonstrating home-grown origins, thoughtfully sparing use of keys, winds and choruses. Emphasis on civil lyrics, effective choruses and memorable slogans. Proven listening functionality of this music and the friendly togetherness within the band. This is also why the creation of the album was able to cope with the serious health indisposition of guitarist Lubos Andrst, in his unfinished recordings respectfully replaced once by Michal Pavlicek and several times by Pavel Marcel.

Both CD and 2LP have been graphically decorated by the studio “3. dilna”, i.e. by Karel Haloun and Ludek Kubik. The fundamental visual concept is based on images of nature as an infinitely changing symbol of life. There is a complete set of song lyrics, and the inserted sheet offers documentary photos of Framus Five. The 180 gram vinyl version also provides a unique code to download the music in MP3 format for free.

It’s a sympathetically unsentimental album, colorful in arrangement, and needfully energetic. An album anchoring Michal Prokop in the position of an unmistakable Czech rocker, faithful to his own musical opinion and his numerous fans. An album released after a long time by Supraphon, where the singer started out an incredible fifty-three years ago.

Boot Camp Clik’s Smif-N-Wessun performs their classic hits with the Czech Republic based band, Champion Sound, live in Prague. Tek N’ Steel first stormed the masses with hardcore rhymes and a flawless ability to trade the mic without hesitation. Produced by Evil Dee and Mr. Walt, Dah Shinin was layered with heavy bass lines, razor sharp scratching and a dungeon sound that basted through any roof. New Sun was born right after the release of third album Sick Sad Love in november 2019. Soon the postmodern plague hit the world and Stiu couldn’t play anymore shows than the one sold out release show in Stockholm. When we started making the music our guitarist Nicklas Bargell & i took turns playing drums & we made some stuff as a trio. A new drummer came in & lots of music was made. New Sun was recorded by the band in our own studio Shadow Kingdom & mixed by our drummer Christian Augustin together with the rest of us. It was mastered by long time collaborator & friend Magnus Lindberg. Artwork was as always made by our bassplayer Kalle Mattsson. This time we kept it all in the family. Musically we dig deeper into the ground on which we are standing & things go in a few different directions as on all our albums. Some words from Jessica Mengarelli on her lyrics: ”The lyrics spring from a sense of desperation and acuteness, they are an expression of how it feels to be driven by restlessness, to be flung between euphoria and resignation, to crave presence, to give up to indifference, to feel trapped in the grip of old experiences. It is widely accepted that the recorded musical output of Indian-born British guitarist Amancio D’Silva came to a premature closure with the landmark 1972 albums, Cosmic Eye and the unreleased masterpiece Konkan Dance. The Roundtable are here to prove otherwise, announcing the discovery of an extraordinary lost recording. Forty years after it was recorded we proudly present Sapana, the forgotten piece of a remarkable musical legacy, the final recording from one the most singular artists to emerge from the British Jazz scene of the 1960s/70s. Recorded in 1983 and released here for the first time, Sapana is thematically akin to Cosmic Eye, a further musical impression of the subconscious (Dream Sequences), vividly imagined with traditional Hindustani and western improvisation. A spellbinding fusion of Indian raga and New-Age jazz. Celebrated as a pioneer of the ‘Indo-Jazz’ movement of the 1960s, D’Silva’s adventurous synthesis of modal jazz and Indian classical music defined the seminal 1969 Lansdowne jazz recordings Hum Dono and Integration. Here we find D’Silva fifteen years later, removed from the jazz scene and musically in place of deep introspection and meditative tranquility. The recording features Sitarist Clem Alford, a collaborator from the Konkan Dance sessions plus renowned Tabla player, Millar and Saxophonist/Flautist Lyn Dobson, a musician who had previously worked with Soft Machine, Third Ear Band, and Henry Lowther. Together the quartet construct a deeply evocative set transcending the realm of both jazz and Indian music. Pressed on 180g vinyl and packaged in a custom flip-back sleeve.

“Only this is Rock” Keiji Haino has said of new studio album You're either standing facing me or next to me. “Treat what I call rock like breaking the seal of old manuscripts.”

Since his beginnings in 1970 as the vocalist of the band Lost Alaaf, Haino has spread his work across multiple genres, pushing the limits as a tireless explorer of free-form experimentation. It was with the intense psychedelic soundscapes of Fushitsusha, formed in 1978, that his live set earned a formidable reputation. The band’s debut, released by legendary Tokyo label PSF Records in 1989, was a live album that, together with its 1991 follow-up, were described by now-defunct Stylus Magazine as “some of the most incredible performances ever committed to tape”.

For this latest release, Haino returned to Tokyo’s legendary Gok Sound Studio with guitarist Masami Kawaguchi (New Rock Syndicate), bassist Shingo Nauke and drummer Toshihiko Katano as Keiji Haino and the Hardy Rocks - a project they formed in 2016. You're either standing facing me or next to me consists of ten cover songs of some of the most covered songs in the history of western popular music (plus a cover of his own with ‘Black Petal’). In true Haino fashion, expect the unexpected with complete structural reworks, and creative turns only the master of dark textures could ever conceive.

The two emerging explorations of aquatic themes on 1989’s Les Nouvelles Musiques de Chambre Volume 2 were a unique insight into the respective compositional approaches of its two central figures. The split album featured the Italian composer Gigi Masin on side-a with delicate piano movements rippling above undulating electronics. Its second track ‘Clouds,’ has become an ambient standard with Bjork, Nujabes and cloud-rap duo Main Attrakionz all sampling its rich and euphoric tones.

Side-b belonged to Charles Hayward and the twenty three minute sound portrait ‘Thames Water Authority’. A founding member of post-punk and avant groups This Heat and Camberwell Now, Hayward’s natural inclination towards percussive instrumentation is highlighted by shape-shifting cymbal recordings that trace the expansive systems that meander beneath Greater London. The track later appeared on his tribute album to Mark Rothko, fusing its symmetry with artistic abstraction.

Jojo Hiroshige is probably best known as the main driving force behind Japanese noise band Hijokaidan and its numerous transformations. His group Slap Happy Humphrey - formed with fellow Alchemy Records noise maker and Angel’in Heavy Syrup singer Mineko Itakura - was in some ways a departure from Hiroshige’s typical noise undertakings. On their first and only LP, the self-titled record is immersed in opposites and contrasts that work in tandem - of folk and noise, of calm and rupture. P-vine is delighted to present the first ever vinyl reissue of the 1994 album with an iconic Japanese obi strip attached.

As a revival of Doji Morita’s hauntingly bleak folk swept across Japan in the early 90s, so too did Hiroshige wish to step into Morita’s dark fantastical world armed with his guitar. With cover songs selected from Morita’s first four albums, Itakura’s vocals bring out the ethereal charm of Morita's writing across these tracks with third member and Subvert Blaze frontman, Hiroaki Fujiwara, backing her on acoustic guitar and violin. Against this backdrop of the duo’s acid folk harmonies, Hiroshige finds opportune moments to thrust his most volatile concoctions of noise and blissful distortion.

Sabotage Organized Barbarian, best known by their acronym S.O.B were part of a hardcore punk movement in the 80s that envigorated Japanese youth along with other acts like Gism and Gauze. The ravaging tempos and punishing aural densities grappled with the ears, and their sphere of influence quickly broke the banks of their native Osaka, with acts like Napalm Death acknowledging the bands importance for their own sound and grindcore to come.

In 1988, S.O.B teamed up with Alchemy Records founder Jojo Hiroshige, and his prolific Japanoise band Hijokaidan to form S.O.B Kaidan. With Hiroshige’s crushing distortion squeals stacked on top of S.O.B’s high-tempo percussive aggression, the two made quick work of anything that dared to obstruct their path at the cross-sections of hardcore and noise.

Their only LP Noise Violence and Destroy remains the only relic of their collaboration, and has become hard to find. The initial batch of 3000 LPs were quickly snapped up, and the brief CD runs that followed are now rare items. The year 2019 marked significant changes for Baltimore psychedelic-doom trio, Black Lung. Following the release of their third album, Ancients, guitarist and founding member Adam Bufano amiably departed the band and in November 2019, was replaced by guitarist Dave Fullerton. Just four months later, the reconfigured trio’s plans for touring in support of Ancients were canceled as the world entered Covid-19 lockdown. It was time to reconcile their touring ambition with the reality that live music was effectively shut down indefinitely. In the existential dread, loss and uncertainty of the global pandemic, with the backdrop of malignant fascism and cultural enmity in the USA, Black Lung began writing the songs that would comprise their next record. There is no question that Dark Waves, Black Lung’s newest release via Heavy Psych Sounds Records, was conceived in hostile times. Dave Cavaliers lyrics reflect this hostility. Songs like ‘The Cog’ and ‘Mad King’ lament the weaponized ignorance of the propagandized American citizen, while ‘Awaken’ and ‘The Path’ muse on escapism and the false protection of dreams. On the title track, ‘Dark Waves’, the band channels this mood of bitterness through their instruments, as a meditative bridge is slowly transformed into a foreboding storm front centered around Dave Fullerton’s hypnotic guitar melodies. Despite the apparent darkness, Dark Waves is not a cold or desolate sounding record. The band leaps forward from their previous releases with warmer, brighter sound crafting and more audacious songwriting. There are passages with a tangible sense of jubilation and excitement, as the band members revel in the recording process after more than a year of uncertainty and frustration. While in some ways Dark Waves offers a departure from prior Black Lung records, the band stays true to their roots in doom and psychedelic music, delivering eight songs packed with the frenzied, fuzzed-out guitar breakdowns, booming drums, and soulful vocals that longtime fans will appreciate. The decision to bring bass guitar prominently into the mix on Dark Waves adds new levels of depth and heaviness to Black Lung’s songs, which may be the album’s most notable and exciting development. Underpinning everything about Dark Waves is the band's decision to shed conventions and their ability to adapt to change. For Black Lung, making it through these dark times meant reflecting on the past while pushing forward without knowing what the future may hold. Ordinarily, private press albums by groups of unknown musicians don’t make their way back into circulation - they are lost due to their inaccessibility for public consumption and routine home clearouts. Little is known about Four-Um, the group who released the covers album Just Us in 1972, other than their association with Buffalo, New York and their own short-lived label Libra 7 Records. Just Us, however, has clung onto record collector shelves owing to the creativity of its jazz and soul-packed interpretations of classic tracks, and its strong cult-following.

So hats off to Yank rockers Karma To Burn, who had the sense, the taste and the balls (don’t forget the balls) to part with their tiresome vocalist, minutes before an important London gig... Wild Wonderful Purgatory is their first album in this new incarnation. And it rocks, hard. Tracks are numbered rather than titled, in the order in which they were recorded. So ’32’ is the slaughterhouse groove characterised by the wildfire barbed wire guitar breaks; ’25’ is the slothful Sabbath grind; ’30’ the colossal, feral beast with all the ferocity of a Rottweiler which has been chained up and fed nothing but raw, red meat for weeks. 'Flicker' is the second album from Ride guitarist and songwriter Andy Bell. This 18-track double album finds Andy moving towards classic songwriting, notably on the reflective lead single 'Something Like Love', the strident harmonies of 'World of Echo', the joyous refracted loops of 'Jenny Holzer B. Goode' and the fuzz-laden late-'60s balladeering of 'Love Is The Frequency'. Stylistically, the four sides of 'Flicker' take in everything from modern psychedelia to fingerpicked folk, whimsical baroque pop, and Byrdsian 12-string beauty. It's a breathtaking array and makes it even more abundantly clear that Andy has entered a purple patch in his songwriting, hitting a new velocity in contrast to his initial inhibitions about becoming a solo artist. 'Flicker' is also an apt description for the genesis of the album. At the start of 2021, Andy returned to the stems of the recording sessions he made at Beady Eye and Oasis bandmate Gem Archer's North London studio and added fuel to the fire, writing melodies and lyrics and turning them into fully formed songs. The same sessions were also the starting point for 'The View From Halfway Down' and this album picks up where that one left off, quite literally, with the very first words being "I was halfway down_". This is the first of several playful, possibly intentional, references to albums and song titles that litter the record like a musical breadcrumb trail. As much as this is a modern sounding and forward-looking record, it's also very much about looking back, something that is clear from the first glimpse of the front cover - a previously unseen outtake from Joe Dilworth's photo sessions for the inner sleeve of Ride's debut album, 'Nowhere'. Since The Obsessed's earliest days, the band accumulated dozens of b-sides, covers, alternate takes and demos, many of which were issued on a variety of compilations and an early-2000s collection called Incarnate. Long out of print, Blues Funeral Recordings' new ultimate edition of The Obsessed 'Incarnate' is completely remastered, features the addition of new tracks, and is packaged with all new artwork, photos, and all-new extensive liner notes written by Wino himself to tell the stories behind each long-lost gem.

An Endless Feast For Hyenas is the Decasia debut album.A creative turning point is gradually taken, looking for more heavy psych and krautrock touches. The first trials of this debut album AN Endless Feast FOR Hyenas are directly tested on stage to feel their live impact. This album is a complete and deep dive into the Decasia’s universe : a wide, eclectic and powerful effort. The trio drags us quickly with a psychedelic rock sound nuanced with stoner and almost narrative instrumental passages. Taking the path of improvisations to write and compose, the album is recorded in the middle of the countryside in Auvergne (France). The house is transformed into a studio with instruments installed in the barn and the control room in the living room. Recorded & mixed by Thomas de Fraguier. Mastered by Erwan Le Mao.
