The latest work from Exhume Exhume, a reissue project supervised by Flatt THE Laidback!

In the mid-70s, the self-produced album "Knights Company" was secretly produced and sold in very limited quantities as a 2-disc set (LP + EP) by members of the Knights, a light music department at Kitakyushu City University.

Not only is it a rarity, being almost unknown even among connoisseurs, but this work boasts high musicality, fusing a black soul feeling strongly influenced by James Brown and others, with a bluesy and melodic West Coast sound and AOR feel.

Its charm has not faded at all even now, many years after its production, and it continues to shine brilliantly.

A miraculous masterpiece that is the trajectory of youth by the sharp young people of northern Kyushu who once dedicated themselves to music!

It has been reborn as a compilation album with condensed content, complete with high-quality remastering by 8ronix (Bullpen lab.) and a delusional band designed by osagodard (browse depart/luminous body)!

Our miracle was triggered by a single word from the late Otaki. "Why don't you make an original and put it on an LP?" Everyone wondered if it was really possible to do something like that. But gradually, their eyes began to change. From there, they spent six months creating their own music. They wrote songs, arranged them together, practiced, stayed up all night recording, and even made a vinyl chloride record. I'll never forget the help from friends other than the band members. I can't believe we were able to do something so crazy. That LP was revived for the first time in 47 years thanks to a certain encounter. It's the second miracle. Yoshio Nojiri (Gt.Vo.)

After "Olivier Rocabois Goes Too Far" 2021 and the EP "The Pleasure Is Goldmine" (2022), the new release by Olivier Rocabois is called "The Afternoon of our Lives". The songmaker from Brittany has written and composed 11 new numbers for this second solo LP. The A side was recorded at the legendary Studios de La Frette (Arctic Monkeys, Marianne Faithfull, Nick Cave) with his band whereas he cut solo tracks for the B side in various studios around Paris and in a church somewhere in Normandy. A string quartet can be heard on a couple of tracks including "Prologue / Trippin' on Memory Lane", the long baroque pop piece that shines at the center of the album. Heavily influenced by the late Beatles and Hunky Dory / Aladdin Sane-Bowie but also The Beach Boys or The Divine Comedy, the record also contains more adventurous tracks and even two potential hits which could keep your dancefloor packed all night long! Olivier has been touring extensively last year (playing venues in Paris like Le Café de la Danse and Les Trois Baudets) and a summer/autumn tour is in the pipeline. As Rob Cochrane wrote for Culture Catch "He may have invented a niche for himself in the form of Glam Baroque. In the late 80s, King's X had just launched their now-iconic Sam Taylor-produced debut album Out of the Silent Planet (1988), ushering in what would soon become known as the "Houston sound." This sound was a unique blend of progressive metal, groove, rock, and rich harmonies. Around the same time, another band began making waves: The Awful Truth. They had recorded their debut album for mainstream Metal Blade Records but sadly broke up before it even came out. By the time the album was released in 1989, two-thirds of The Awful Truth had formed a new band with two other members, the now-legendary Galactic Cowboys, further defining that groovy-metallic Houston Sound. Although signed to the infamous Metal Blade Records (known for releasing albums by Slayer, Fates Warning, Voivod, etc.), The Awful Truth's eponymous album featured poetic lyrics expressing a sincere faith. A key example is "Ghost of Heaven": High above the highest star Songs of You the angels sing Only You could fill my heart Only You could bring me where You are Ghost of Heaven, hear my plea Holy voice, won't you speak to me? Most of the material was written by David von Ohlerking and is adventurous, though more in a traditional progressive context, not foreshadowing the unpredictable style of the Galactic Cowboys. The one track with shared writing credits is Drowning Man, where you can definitely hear the chugging riffs and rhythms that would characterize Monty Colvin and Alan Doss' next project. The distinctive guitar sound, overdriven/mid-rangey bass tones, and oblique Christian imagery in the lyrics are reminiscent of the first four King's X records, but The Awful Truth ventures into heavier and more progressive territory. The epic Should Have Known All Along might even be mistaken for a lost King's X song, especially with the way Ohlerking's vocals break at the end, sounding very Dug Pinnick-like. The end result is a stone-cold classic in every way. The 2024 Brutal Planet Records reissue has been completely remastered by Rob Colwell (Nevermore, Flotsam & Jetsam, King's X, Poundhound, Voivod, etc.) and it sounds better than ever! Collector's are treated to Orange Crush Heavy-weight Vinyl and a 12x12 full color lyrics insert featuring band photos. This limited edition of just 300 Vinyl units is a must-have. Grab this slab of progressive hard rock brilliance while you can!

Formed in Philadelphia during the Covid days of fall 2021, Bitter Wish is a psychedelic power trio comprising guitarist John Comune, bassist Clint Takeda (Bardo Pond/Double Wig) and percussionist Scott Verrastro (Kohoutek/ Heavy Lidders). While the band doesn't stray far from its Bardo Pond and Kohoutek roots, they incorporate more repetition and minimalism into their fuzzy vibe. Freeform psych—the children of Fire Music parents secretly raised on Sabbath... Candle Finger, Bitter Wish’s debut full-length, is comprised of two side-long jammers. Both sides are untitled, with side A starting out with nearly 10 minutes of psychedelic bass swells, light percussion, and soloing guitar, guiding the listener down the tunnel, just in time for the proverbial freight-train heading their way. It eventually builds into a faster-than-mid tempo scorcher, with heavily phaser-drenched bass, steady drumming with just the right number of fills, and that soloing guitar, still leading the listener on through to the other side of the mountain pass, before chilling things out before its time to flip the record. On the other hand, side B puts it right out there. Right off the bat, this is a thick, heavy, and plodding slab of awesomeness. Destroying everything in its path, before taking a slight breath for a bit, and then cranking up the speed to a manic frenzy. The last 5 or so minutes are spent winding things down, encouraging the listener to flip the record and start things all over again. Recorded live at Main Drag Music in Brooklyn NY, in July 2023. Mastered by James Plotkin. Edition of 284 copies.
