The A side hits with two hazy cuts of sun drenched disco house. ‘Left Behind’ swells with filtered tales of lost love radiating a bittersweet warmth. Prolific Spanish producer Rayko brings you four slices of synth-tastic nu-disco with a prog twist here. The title track is a lazy, hazy affair in which untold layers of analogue sound oscillate their way in and out of the picture. "Drive" sees him join forces with fellow Spaniard Landerground to deliver a wonderfully fluid, fluttering chunk of synth-heavy Balearica. The title is clearly a nod towards the famous movie of the same name, and many of the electronic sounds are reminiscent of the film's legendary soundtrack 'Autopower' is a tad funkier in feel and, with its sense of repressed energy, would make a great building track.
But for some truly out-there thrills, head for 'Oopart', a guitar-led affair that comes on like Ripperton jamming with space rock diehards Ozric Tentacles.

Italian duo Neverdogs mint their brand new label Bamboleo Records with a powerful four track EP that serves as a fine statement of intent.
The label—which launched with a special party at BPM in 2018 and has been hosting a monthly event at 93 feet East in London since October 2018—will focus on house, techno and minimal with a funky edge. As well as their own material, it will release big names from the international scene and aims to inspire and generate new emotions for the dance floor. Neverdogs themselves have been turning out essential sets and tracks since 2000. They have released on an array of labels including Snatch!, Avotre, This And That, Roush among others, and played everywhere from BPM Festival & Sunwaves to Marco Carola’s Music On.
Up first is the thrilling ‘Underground Activity’, a dubbed out deep techno roller. It has warm chords bringing plenty of scale to the slick, kinetic drums. The superb ‘Solution’ is a more churning, lively tech cut with wobbling hooks and metallic drums. It’s one to get the floor moving, with dark vocals finishing it in style.
Keeping up the dynamic dance floor vibes, ‘Stop Talking’ slips into a moody and stripped back house framework, with dry hits echoing out into a cavernous atmosphere. With real swagger and cosmic overtones in the keys, it’s another excellent side to this pair’s sound. Last of all, ‘Destination’ is a dramatic vocal DJ tool with broad synths and molten bass all warping round each other.
This is a devastating package from a bright new label that both DJs and dancers are sure to love.

Korpus 9 welcome Robert S for four new cuts of scintillating techno. The Portuguese artist also plays live and is a real techno talent who draws on a wide musical world for his influences while releasing on labels like Sleaze Records, Planet Rhythm and Robert Limited.
Opener Angels of Acid is a driving, stripped back tune with a warped acid line. It has cowbells pinging up top and sweeping synths that will lift the club to the next level. Blood Receiver is even more heads down, with searching synths spraying across the face of the cut, which is utterly mysterious and takes you down into a brand new realm. It's rumbling and arresting and designed to really draw you in.
Espasmos is then another chunky cut, with smart filter use building the pressure in the drums. Icy hi hats are layered over the top and the heavy kicks keep your body moving. Last of all, Acid From East is a rickety techno roller, with more thoughtful pads bringing a sense of cinematise to the most physical of drums.
All in all this is another powerful EP.

The following 12” EP is a first four-track release of this project. The original tracks of the album are only an approximate starting point for »Remixed«. In contrast to »Decadent yet Depraved«, largely conceived in song structures, this EP is about transferring the pieces back into abstract space, and each remixer does it in his very own way. Alessandro Cortini’s one-take live recording is a lesson in classical ambient music. Telefon Tel Aviv’s remix is timelessly modern and extremely delicate sound design. Rather opposite concepts are coming from Surachai’s brutal pattern design and Kangding Ray’s expressive and analogously saturated repetitions for the dance floor.

Plus or Minus Two compiles four songs from Kansas City wave pioneers Short-Term Memory’s first cassette album, Every Head Needs Cleaning, with two previously unreleased tracks recorded in the 90s.
This EP focuses on the group’s prescient dance-floor DIN-sync workouts which share sensibilities with contemporaneous early Detroit experiments by Juan Atkin’s Cybotron, Ron Hardy’s visionary Kikrokos tape edit, Shoc Corridor’s extended 808
exercises, and 90s Techno Pop by Haruomi Hosono. Rounding off the EP is the existential electronic soul ballad Words. Remastered from the original reels, 45rpm DMM pressing.
Kansas City, 1983: a band formed, wires connected and synapses fired. Three friends, tired of guitar/bass/drums rock started jamming with newly acquired synths and Roland TR 808. They called themselves Short-Term Memory. Thanks to the vanguard technology of the time, these
electronic instruments spoke to each other, and Jim Skeel, John Paul & Robert Duckworth could program their instruments, riding the DIN-sync wave. Weekly jams became more ambitious, and in 1983 they released their first album Every Head Needs Cleaning on their own Silly Poodle Music label. Over the 80s members drifted in and out of the group, and they released two cassettes, an LP and a 7” EP. By the 90s Jim Skeel was at the helm, the only original member, and joined by Tim Higgins he continued to record in MIDI mode for a few years before pulling the plug, leaving recordings and memories that resisted the great fadeout of time, and today sound vibrant and more visionary than ever.

Ot to not to is the experimental R'n'B recording project of Virginia natives Ian Mugerwa and Noah Smith. In 2016, Mugerwa released the first Ot to Not to LP Goshen through Nicolas Jaar’s OTHER PEOPLE imprint after being discovered by Jaar in 2015 while recording. Goshen was a very deliberate effort to create an R'n'B concept album that explored aesthetics and recording methods usually more associated with European experimental electronic music. More specifically, it was an effort to subvert tropes in pop R'n'B, whether those be the stereotypical, sterile cleanliness of radio R'n'B or the safe themes and song structures. Forthcoming LP "It Loved to Happen" will be released March 1 and is preceded by a remix 12 featuring abstract interpretations of tracks by Xiu Xiu, Carlos Nino, Ben Chatwin & Machinefabriek.

Sipho left the group early and Bionic retired a few years later. Silk Road Assassins, a trio consisting of Tom E Vercetti, Chemist and Lovedr0id, return to Planet Mu with their debut full-length 'State Of Ruin' two years after their first EP 'Reflection Spaces'. The trio recorded over two years, working together to start with, then across different studios and via the internet when their lives became more separated. They also finessed the album at Abbey Road studios, making use of some short time to add in extra layers. The three producers day jobs are in production music, music designed and created specifically for film and games, and this album uses these skills to explore the musical forms that they love. The album explores how trap and grime's minimalist form can be built and curved into musical architecture: elegant, opaque and layered, turning the sound into lush, melodic world-building. The work gone into the album is revealed on repeated listens, every sound on this record feels built to sit within it's delicate ecosystem. The fundamentals of the music are given their own sense of purpose: hand claps spray, bells tumble, guitars splinter and lush melodies waft over and fill the track's spaces like light, glinting across snapping, crisp rhythms and deep bass tones. The album also features two Planet Mu alumini, Kuedo who features on 'Split Matter' brings some of his bitter-sweet shimmering melodies and on 'Shadow Realm' Russian producers WWWINGS give the music a violent metallic edge, providing the record with an epic and unexpected twist towards the end. Silk Road Assassins music is built to last, and a pleasure to indulge in.

Song to song and side to side Midnight flaunts a panoramic rooftop view of leather interiors, fern-accented foyers, and supreme motion software. Midnight is 12 AM, 12 inches of bump ‘n’ bounce ‘n’ body euphoria, music for low lit silhouettes unified in emotional response. Somewhere a clock strikes, a ball drops, and day turns to dawn.
