Oldfield came up with Hergest Ridge, the successor to Tubular Bells, written at The Beacon, his home there on the borders. Mike’s demo of the album – that was ultimately released in August 1974, topping the UK chart – was first released on the 2-cd set of Hergest Ridge in 2010. Now, for Record Store Day 2024, it makes its debut on vinyl, mastered by Miles Showell at Abbey Road. With new artwork overseen by Mike Oldfield (including photographs taken on the Ridge in 2023), The 1974 Demo offers a chance to revaluate this breathtaking English pastoral music, two suites performed and played by a 21-year old musician running from fame.

Gabon, 1980’s. President Omar Bongo has been in power since 1967. Together with his wife, the infamous singer Patience Dabany, he invents one of the ultimate political propaganda machine: ‘animation groups’, massive female choirs and dancers, up to 60 women deep, singing the praise of his regime over some of the best soukous rhythms ever, broadcasted live on TV. Between 1982 and 1989, mainly thanks to the flourishing oil economy, a record-label is created, a state-of-the-art recording studio is set up, and the best Gabonese and Congolese musicians are recruited. Dozens of vinyls are pressed and sold with huge success all over the country. The Bongo family has reigned continuously over Gabon until the 2023 coup d’état.

Stuck on common ground is the debut album of the Italian Power Trio Hijss. With a mixture of heavy blues influenced riffs and synthesized Krautrock parts hijss tries to create a high dynamic range that will keep your attention at all time. On top of gritty basslines and ferocious drums lie cosmic guitars, tantalizing vocals and arpeggiated electronic drones. All three band members come from a vast musical background. Their common denominator is without a doubt a punkish attitude. The album was produced by Toni Quiroga and hijss, drums were recorded at Nologo Recording Studio, Laives by "holy barbarian" Fabio Sforza. Psychodrama is Tigers on Opium debut full length.A structured form of therapy in which a person dramatizes a personal problem or conflict, usually in front of a group of other therapy participants. The other participants usually take part in the drama, though each performance focuses on a single person's concerns. The goal of psychodrama therapy is to work together in a group to achieve a better understanding of past traumas and the influence they can create, the members must feel willing to work together. "When I came across the idea of psychodrama therapy, I started to think about how we have so many joint experiences as a society that currently happen or have happened, and how they shape both our singular and collective consciousness. Music has always been a form of therapy for not just me, but a massive amount of the people in the world. I started to conceptualize this as an idea for the album, thinking that we all have so many connections to major/micro events in time, and generally similar interpretations of them. Like the idea of a psychodrama therapy session, I started to envision how the songs could play out about these different moments... Almost like vignettes or snapshots of life, with the song playing the role of the individual, and the listeners playing the role of the group.” Juan Carlos Caceres The album Psychodrama explores various psychological and social experiences that have shaped our cultural evolution. Occultism, Propaganda, Atomic Warfare, Media Consumption, Religion, Social unrest, Nostalgia, Mental Struggle, Pop Culture, Revolution, and Change - are all themes explored throughout the album. Out via Heavy Psych Sounds on March 1st 2024.

Produced for release by David Lemieux The penultimate studio album from the Grateful Dead, released in 1987, it was their first Top 10 album, with their first Top 10 hit song, Touch Of Grey. Many of the songs had been in the repertoire since 1982-1983, along with 1985 and 1986 additions, and songs to this day are considered bona fide classics, including the hit single, Throwing Stones, West L.A. Fadeaway, Hell In A Bucket, and the beautiful ballad Black Muddy River. The first album co-produced by longtime Grateful Dead engineer John Cutler, along with Jerry Garcia, there is a sonic presence that captures the Grateful Dead's live energy, owing to the basic tracks being performed live at the Marin County Civic Auditorium, a local theatre at which the Dead had played many times.

Disastroid’s latest outing, Garden Creatures, is a record about the darkness in the hidden corners of suburban landscapes — sinister overgrown gardens, secret collections kept in basements, the crime just beneath the surface, the pervasive loneliness under a veneer of normalcy. Accordingly, it’s a dark and atmospheric record, trading the stripped-down approach of 2020’s Mortal Fools for a thicker, heavier, and more layered sound. Legendary producer Billy Anderson (Sleep, Melvins, Neurosis) builds mixes that range from dark and dreamy to a thick, sludgy crunch, slowly puling the listener through a range of sounds and textures, making sure things stay interesting. Singer/guitarist Enver Koneya's vocals are soulful and sometimes haunting, drifting above Disastroid’s characteristically off-kilter, grunge-influenced riffs.
