BETTY AND THE WEREWOLVES are three girls and one boy from London who whoop and howl through the night as sweetly sung melodies collide with glitter-struck punk guitars. Taking inspiration from luminary lycanthropes Virginia Woolf and Grandma Wolf, they sing ditties about falling in love with David Cassidy and strange encounters on night buses, shouting all the while and scuffing up their party shoes. This is their wonderful second single following their debut 7" last year on DG called 'Euston Station' and it's a homage to 70's super pop pin-up and Partridge Family member, "David Cassidy". It's backed with another live favourite "Plastic". The Werewolves recorded this just after their recent tour dates with FUCKED UP, who have been telling anyone that will listen that BATW are their favourite band in the world. This single will hopefully plug the gap for those who can't wait for the debut album which is due out later in the year.

This is the first single from the new album 'Triple Distilled' and it's already getting played on BBC 6Music, 'Begging You' was recorded at Ranscombe Studios in Grahams hometown Rochester and it's backed with an exclusive b-side a great instrumental called 'Sitar Spangled Banner'. After a year of touring and the release of their 'Travelled And Unravelled' EP earlier this year, the Gaolers returned to the studio in July 2008 to record their follow up to the critically acclaimed debut album 'Soundtrack To The Daily Grind' with their second album 'Triple Distilled' at Ranscombe Studios in Rochester, Kent which is due for release in October 2008. 'Triple Distilled' is made up of 12 blistering new tracks with fairly autobiographical lyrics telling tales of their life on the road, drinking and smoking. As usual they are the amalgamation of Graham's tuneful and aggressive songs, driven with an energy and attitude, which has been perfectly captured in a simple no-frills studio recording. Buzz couldn't make the recording so Johnny Barker (Ex of The Buff Medways) has stepped in and will also be part of the band that hits the road again around the albums release for another European tour and a headline show at the legendary 100 CLUB in London on October 29th Dan Elektro from the great US band The Woggles is on drums. This is the third release in The Social Registry's ongoing series aptly titled The Social Club. Dispatched monthly via letter-pressed/limited edition 7-inch vinyl and digital distribution, this series presents a full musical array: the established and the obscured, the noisy and the delicate, thetempered and the experimental. The press release for The Social Club makes reference to these editions being akin to postcards, and this one is a postcard in the truest sense. It captures a moment and represents a place of sorts. If you walk down Canal Street on any given night, odds are you will hear the sound of Messages coming from a fifth floor walkup. If you stopped,you would hear it go on for hours and it would be the sound of Tres Warren (of Psychic Ills) and Taketo Shimada mashing sine waves, bass loops, guitars, samplers and turntables into a storm in between bouts of playing techno and psychedelic improvrecords. The resulting sound consists of slowly shifting repetitions, heavy monotone low end and smoky echoes that conjure unexpected subsonic grooves. This 7-inch collects two of these tracks and marks the duo's debut release.

Hailing from Los Angeles, California, Douglas Armour is our first proper signing to reside outside of New York City. He is a prolific songwriter who originally started playing in the DC music scene and has been in numerous bands, one of which included Psychic Ills' Tres Warren (something we had no idea of until the two recently bumped into each other in our office). For this 7-inch Douglas provided us with two tracks, Prince of Wands and Away. Princeof Wands first left an impression on us, and an indelible one at that, when associates of the label began DJing the track. This is a 4 track, split 7" featuring two tracks by Holly Golightly & The Brokeoffs, who as I'm sure you know by now are the dynamic duo of Holly Golightly and Lawyer Dave. The STRATFORD SPARROWS are from Portland, Oregon. The Rev. Joe alighted there from San Francisco. After making it though the many trials of life in the City of Roses, he began hearing the sounds of harmony vocals, clean Telecasters, and reverb. He obtained a recording device and brought it back to the humble Stratford apartments. He met the fair Miss Bryna in Japanese class and asked her to put her sweet voice to good use. She said yes and the hit making commenced. Taking inspiration from classic country music, the mighty Willamette River, and the 100 year old building that houses them, the Stratford Sparrows made music all summer long. Rev. Joe called on his friend Holly and a record was born. Every time Rev. Joe turns a knob or pushes a fader, the sounds in his head are approached.

They released three singles, "Bend & Flush", "Making Bacon" and "Telephone Masturbator" and an album "Pink Pork" in '77/'78 on their own Wood Records. THE PORK DUKES split up in 1979. The original single sold in excess of 20,000 copies in 1977. This reissue is limited to 1000 copies.

PSYKIK VOLTS were an original New Wave band formed in 1978, inspired/influenced by bands like THE CLASH, SEX PISTOLS etc. They were all aged around 18 at the time of releasing their self-financed single and it was their first time in the studio, hence some of the rough & ready bits (feedback, bum notes etc.). They considered themselves more 'New Wave' than 'Punk' at the time as the initial wave of punk bands had died down by then. A very DIY band, they designed the picture sleeve, had it printed and stuck them all together their selves! John Peel played the single quite a lot on Radio 1, and it was subsequently repressed on the MHG label after the initial 1000 copies had sold. They released another 500 copies (in plain white sleeves). The band got signed shortly afterwards to Graduate Records (UB40 etc.), who recorded 3 songs but never released them. They split at the end of 1979. Vik & drummer Mick Reed then got signed to Rockburgh Records in 1980/81 & released a single called "Wooden Heart", calling themselves POPTONES (after the Public Image song). "Totally Useless/Horror Stories No. 5" was featured in Record Collector magazine in 2006 in their 'top 100 rare punk singles' list & valued at £50.This single will be followed by a CD compilation of all the bands tracks as well as full sleevenotes and rare photos etc.

Legions Of Doom, the doom metal supergroup featuring members of The Skull, Trouble, Saint Vitus, Corrosion Of Conformity, are set to release "All Good Things" b/w "Into the Fire" on 7" vinyl via Tee Pee Records. Originally intended for the third The Skull album, work on "All Good Things" began before the passing of Eric Wagner (ex-Trouble) passed away in 2021. With Wagner's lyrics, Karl Agell (Lie Heavy, C.O.C., Blind) takes the lead on vocals, joined by The Skull's Ron Holzner (also ex-Trouble) on bass, Lothar Keller on guitar and Henry Vasquez on drums, with Scott Little on guitar and David Snyder (Trouble, BlackFinger) collaborating. Lyrics of hope and patience top a fluid, heavy verse and crunching chorus riff in righteously metal fashion. The Deep Purple cover "Into the Fire" on the B side finds the band putting their own spin on a classic from In Rock, and celebrating the roots of doom in early ‘70s swinging groove.After the untimely passing of Eric Wagner, one of doom metal’s most notable and esteemed singers and songwriters, The Skull bassist and bandleader Ron Holzner contemplated long and hard on whether it would be possible to carry on. An idea was born after nine months and a lot of soul-searching. Recalls Holzner, "I decided I want to honor the memory of Eric by still playing some of the songs that he crafted, and ones that (guitarist) Lothar and I wrote with him in The Skull. I want his spirit to become eternal through his words and melody. And I also want to play many songs from the catalogs of everyone involved. We want to honor Eric as well as Reed Mullin (Corrosion Of Conformity), Armando Acosta (Saint Vitus), and most recently, Mark Adams from Saint Vitus. We're all familiar with this story: the pandemic struck, and people found themselves confined to their homes, left alone with their thoughts. Amidst various musical projects, Shelby Cinca reached out to his former bandmates with the idea of creating and instrumental album in the style of FRODUS—a desire that had never materialized during the band's active years. Despite the challenges of life and logistics, the project began to take shape as Nate and Shelby brainstormed and organized their ideas. They recalled an offer from their fellow DC friend and prolific musician, Aaron DC Edge, to provide raw drum tracks. Shelby accepted Aaron's offer to kickstart a rhythmic foundation, and soon the project came to life. Some tracks remained faithful to the original demos, while others underwent substantial editing. Eventually, songs began to take form in an organic manner, despite the geographical distance between the collaborators. Conceptually, the group aimed to craft a soundtrack for a post-human world, inspired by a cryptic phrase hidden in the artwork of Frodus's last album: "when man dies, we become wolves again." These songs conjure images of overgrown and ruined cities, the return of wildlife, and the interplay of light and darkness, peace and savagery, coexisting in the after- math of humanity's downfall. Without the prominent narrative of anguished vocals, the vistas emerge in the mind's eye without barriers, allowing for a more subtle and profound exploration of the themes.

The material for «Gemini Twins» was created in the summer of 2022 and finished in 2023. Serge: "I am interested in the themes of Man, his place in the Universe. From primitive times to the era of space exploration, people continue to ask themselves eternal questions: Who am I? Where am I from? Where am I going? The character of 'The Story Of Captain Glosster' is a slightly modified version of Homer’s Odysseus. This is the image of the End of the Wanderings. But Odysseus, after long wanderings, returned to his beloved woman. On the contrary, Captain Glosster found his love as a result of his trips. Found her in Other Worlds. I don’t use science fiction images because that’s how it’s supposed to be according to the laws of the genre. It would be too primitive and not interesting. The composition 'Time Loop' is not a reference to some kind of science fiction. In my composition, the image of the Time Loop is an image of human life. Life is rhythmic, irreversible. Under any given circumstances, we do not have the ability to press «Ctrl+Z». We can only move forward. 'Solstice' is inspired by the feeling of a calm, soft summer day. When all thoughts are stable, there is no anxiety and the world around you looks amazing through the haze of sun rays and summer smells. I tried to convey this state in my track. 'Over the Mountains' could, of course, be an image from science fiction. But not necessarily. This is the feeling of flying over the mountains. Perhaps on another planet. Or maybe not. This is a feeling of triumph from conquering air. 'Fugit Irreparabile Tempus' is my musical reflections on our world and the place of Man in this world.”

Years ago we were lucky enough to get an incredible and uncredited Acetate with a deep instrumental cut of Satta Massagana , long story short after few weeks we got it the plate totally cracked and became unplayable. We managed to send the plate to Rome at Vinyl restoration who made a little miracle and somehow fixed it well enough for us to export a digital crackling recording of it to keep in our archives. Few years later , we played the noisy recording to the great musicians from Dig This Way All Stars and we decided it was absolutely the case to attempt a modern remake of it. Thats how Abeng , Sere and Monz made the structure of the Riddim , than Rootikal Horns handled the Trombone and Sax version , Nicola Gallo did the Organ part and Jonny De Ambassador played the percussions! The final touch is done by Yakka who mixed a couple wicked dubwises of it and Pressure Mastering that made it sounds proper! The 45rpm is pressed in 250 black copies.

The music group Klapper from Berlin has recorded new music after their S/T cassette. Now they are releasing their first album on cassette and vinyl! Great! Once again you can hear the instruments synthesizer, guitar, bass, drum machine, drums and some Klapper instruments. Groovy bass lines and melancholic harmonies as well as a noisy lofi sound let you melt away. The album begins with a hip hop beat and a helicopter sound. The lyrics refer to how elbows ahead mankind is etching around in all areas of life! The other songs will not be described further here, except to say that the content continues in a similar way. The album also ends with a gloomy song. Of course!
