Das steht für vier Persönlichkeiten, mit dem gleichen Ventil. Punkrock hat eine lange Tradition in Oldenburg. Die "harte Schule" der norddeutschen Kleinstadt geht an Keinem spurlos vorbei. Zwischen aussterbendem "plattsnack" und gutsituierter Mittelschicht, sozialisiert laute Gitarrenmusik und bringt nach wie vor die "besseren Menschen" dieser Welt hervor. Ende 2009 trifft man sich das erste Mal, um einen Ausgleich vom Ausgleich zu schaffen, der in diesem Fall Namen wie BITUME, ALARMSIGNAL, SKAMBULÉ (rip), PARADOX etc. trägt. Nach zwei Besetzungswechseln, einer sehr positiv aufgenommenen Demo - 2012 das erste Album. DAS ALBUM... enthält 14 Songs, die durch verschiedene Aufenthalte der einzelnen Bandmitglieder (Jakarta, Portland, Madrid, Oldenburg etc.), ein Jahr der Aufnahme benötigte. Lyrisch stehen persönliche, politische sowie solzialkritische Themen in Wechselwirkung und so werden die Texte von treibendem, melodieprägnatem Punkrock getragen. Dieser Sound wird von Außenstehenden immer wieder mit Bands wie Turbostaat, Pascow oder auch Leatherface verglichen, jedoch im gleichen Satz auch immer auf die eigenständige, sowie authentische Art hingewiesen. Gemixt und gemastert wurde das Ganze in der Oldenburger Tonmeisterei von "Role" himself, der bereits Knöpfe bei Escapado, Just Went Black, Tackleberry, The Now-Denial etc. gedreht hat. Für das Aussehen ist "Ralf Rohde" verantwortlich, der bereits für Künstler wie CJ Ramone, Panteón Rococó, Nitrominds, Karamelo Santo etc. gearbeitet hat. KHADAVRA is an atypical Swedish psychedelic rock quartet created in 2012. Influences on early PINK FLOYD, on jazz, on psyche-space groups such as MONSTER MAGNET, HAWKWIND, TOOL, ISIS, MOTORPSYCHO, GODSPEED YOU! BLACK EMPEROR and the BLACK SABBATH veterans; by digging out certain beaches, the divine breaks of ANEKDOTEN and CAMEL come back; a little hints of KING CRIMSON and SIGUR ROS all that to say that we are in the experimental progressive psychedelic in my opinion, amen! They define themselves as digging deep into the untapped subconscious, seeking the unknown from within and expressing the sound found; a music inspired by common and unusual experiences on the surreal life we are currently living; sound on the dynamics, the emotion, the trance generated more than on the technicality of the notes, all amplified by the joint use of the English language and kindergarten.
KHADAVRA sets up with this opus a perfect musical oxymoron; mixture of dark light, warm darkness, a musical hyperbole imbued with sounds, emotions, ramblings influencing our mental associations; more than the psyche, we seem to be entering a hypnotic musical state here and it is not the classic French horn, didgeridoo, marimba, sitar instruments that will change our minds. So yes it takes progressive blood to dive into this maelstrom from which you will not be sure to return intact, on the other hand this album has the power to break a little more the progressive codes and to propose a new sound, this which is an undeniable plus at the start of the decade.

From 2019 to 2023 Lindsay Reamer worked as a field scientist. A slice of deep ethereal roots and dub from Summer Records label boss Keith "Jerry" Brown circa 1978.

Hailing from Trenchtown, Jerry was an original member of the Rocksteady group "The Jamaicans" before migrating to Toronto. He set up Summer Records in the basement of his suburban home in Malton near the airport, a subterranean music sanctuary for the likes of Prince Jammy, Jackie Mittoo, Johnny Osbourne and Willi Williams.

Dreadlock Lady features Jerry's yearning falsetto over a hazy instrumental courtesy of the Ishan Band and showcasing horns-man Fitty's transcendent flute and Sax solos. The Dub enters even more surreal territory with Jerry at the controls putting the tape machine through its paces, reminiscent of wilder outings at Wackies Studio.

Anderson’s style of hypnotic rhythm and cosmic synth work finds common ground with the labels African background in “Masked Ones”. With haunted vocal shots and elegant drum work. Minimalistic use of elements fill the track exceptionally well.

“Vanish”, the records main cut fills any ear with an astonishing panned bassline accompanied by loosely layered hihats. Strange and eerie pads float around the bassline, while piano chords give structure to the music. Followed by “Escape” this well-crafted jam explores the deep even further. Jumping synth lines that sound from another planet edge the depth of Anderson’s amazing musical ear. The track is layered by dirty low frequencies that suck you in with weird noises and atmospheric melodies.

Orbiting an icy moon Wendel Sield's “Cultivate” shows itself at the end of the EP. A pulsating synth line dominates the track main character. Intricate percussion patterns drag the track along to a dirty mono sequence. Big open snares makes this a track a slap in the face to its listener.

Furuuchi’s unique world of sad poetry adds a new direction for the next album and beyond.

Side D includes a bonus track titled “Somewhere in Tokyo”, which is the first collaboration with Takaki Horigome of Kirinji. Additionally, the album features a new cover of “9ji karano Lily” by Japanese group called “Cappuccino”, written by Yu Aku and Shunichi Tokura in 1981.

DJ Yoshizawa dynamite.jp, an avid record digger and "wamono" style expert who has been active as a professional DJ, remixer, composer, and producer in Japan since the late 80s, published his record guidebook "Wamono A to Z" in 2015. The book introduced many classic and rare Japanese Groove records that were not yet known at the time.

Now, DJ Yoshizawa dynamite.jp recommends four rare light mellow funk and soft rock LPs by Junko Hirotani, Kyoko Omiya & Orange, and Chie Sawa. These LPs were released on the independent Japanese label Pony Canyon from 1974 to 1980.

These albums feature the participation of Haruomi Hosono, Ken Sato, Masaki Matsubara, Masataka Matsutoya, Masayoshi Takanaka, Shigeru Suzuki, Taeko Onuki, Tatsuo Hayashi, Tatsuro Yamashita, Tetsuji Hayashi, Yuji Toriyama, Yukihiro Takahashi, and others.

All songs have been digitally remastered and reissued on translucent color vinyl with a Japanese obi.

French artist Trypheme debuts on Impatience with “Odd Balade”, a darkly-hued collection of songs drawn from human delicacy and dreamworld mythology.

“Odd Balade” is Trypheme’s most ambitious and boldest record to date - both lyrically and musically. The album’s thirteen tracks resist rigid genre boundaries and flutter from medieval folk realms, sprawling synths, gothic 80s wave, leftfield pop, haunted vocals, mutant electronica to reverbed guitars - all reflected through her own shadowy prism. Especially album closer “A Walk In The Vercors” evokes a soothing serenity that echoes the sonic balm of Julee Cruise.

Trypheme’s musical repertoire trends heavily electronic and somewhat abstracted, but on “Odd Balade”, the artist slips into the role of the modern troubadour with a shift to a more poetically and personal songwriting that is infused with symbolism and dreamlike fantasies. The connective tissue of the album is the audacity to love and the vulnerability that ensues. As intimate and introspective as the lyrics are, the themes remain universal and human to the core: the fear of losing a loved one, the melancholia of leaving places and t“the fear of losing a loved one, the melancholia of leaving places and the cycles of life. The record was largely composed in Chars, stirred by the French village’s eerie atmosphere and frequent trips to the seaside in Brittany, where Trypheme resides. Drawing inspiration from the rugged terrain of the seaside landscapes, the writings of Allen Ginsberg and Mark Fisher and the hyperrealist art of Scott Prior, Trypheme uses her songs to depict life with broad strokes of rhythm.

On “Odd Balade” Trypheme consolidates herself as a gifted, nimble songwriter, masterly producer and subtly powerful vocalist. The record combines her skill for crafting lush, alien sound worlds and efficient, alluring arrangements with stealthily devastating songs. Belin’s voice becomes a key ingredient, appearing on eleven of Odd Balade’s thirteen tracks, by turns heavily manipulated, sampled and replayed as a form of percussion, or basically bare.

“Odd Balade” is the manifestation of Trypheme’s roving artistic practice, a ceremonial-grade sacrament cast in a rich nocturnal glow. Pairing the mundane with the mythic, the album stays true to its core: odd and strangely familiar.
