British Columbia based quartet Mother Sun take their idiosyncratic psych pop in invigorating new directions on upcoming fourth LP ‘Meadow 6’. A young life spent betwixt Southern California and Accra, Ghana _ not so much rootless as an epyphite, an air plant. The scale is cinematic but the moves are precise deeds of art and stewardship. Sumney's new, generous album, græ, is an assertion that the undefinable still exists and dwelling in it is an act of resistance.To try to pin Sumney down on a sound _ and really, on any matter _ is to end up with a hand full of fog, but his genius is never allowing the set to sound like a hodgepodge. His forthcoming double album expands upon the sonic universe built in Sumney's critically-acclaimed debut LP Aromanticism and subsequent EP Black In Deep Red, 2014. The songs on græ may be divergent, like the visceral, Smashing Pumpkins drama of "Virile" and the intoxicated, outro jazz of "Gagarin." There's the kinky, ambiguous bop of "Cut Me" countered with the sweeping, amphitheater-ready "Bless Me." But there's that voice, always unknowable and penetrating, threading these pieces together: a heavenly rasp, a whale call, Miles' horn, a soulful snarl. It all works to create a paradox, keeping art and artist somewhere between any one sure thing _ but surely something that demands your attention affixed and your breath bated. The Mos Generator was first released on cd only in march 2002. We didn’t have much luck finding a label to release it (there weren’t many labels putting out this kind of music in 2001) so I put it out on my label, Music Abuse records. 1000 copies were pressed, and it sold out in just over a year. In 2011 Ripple Music did a 10-year anniversary edition in a vinyl/cd set with the leftover studio tracks and a live show from 2002 as bonus tracks. For that release, I remixed all the tracks to give them a fresh perspective. I also did that because I couldn’t locate unmastered original mixes and I didn’t want to re-release the masters from the original cd because I wasn’t happy with the sound. In late 2020 I located the unmastered original 2001 mixes of the album and the original photos in the cover collage, so I was able to reconstruct the cover to look nice as a 12”x12” album sleeve. I’m very excited to be presenting this original mix and artwork as it would have been released on vinyl 20 years ago

Morricone Youth was formed in 1999 with a mission statement to compose, re-interpret, perform and/or record "music written for the moving image" (film/tv soundtracks, library music, etc.) in all incarnations from playing shows dedicated to specific composers/film genres in rock clubs/performance spaces with projections to live scoring films in theaters. Over the years, they've released CDs, toured and had residencies at the Knitting Factory, Cbgb, Tonic and, most recently, Nitehawk Cinema in Williamsburg. Brooklyn Academy of Music commissioned the group to write an original score to Hitchcock's The Lodger performed Halloween 2013. Philadelphia Museum of Art commissioned a piece for its Marcel Duchamp exhibit in 2012. Band members have scored for documentaries, short films, etc. and include current/past members of bands Creedle, Crash Worship, Pain Teens, Pronto (Wilco side band), aMINIATURE and THE Rugburns. Morricone Youth's original six song (25-min.) score for George A. Romero's 1968 Zombie classic in an edition of 500 copies with download. Mastered at 45 rpm.

The original score is composed by Devon Goldberg and performed by Morricone Youth. The film was co-produced by Vinegar Syndrome as the Blu-ray reissue/restoration label’s first entirely original production and is distributed by Shudder in North America and Donau Film in Europe. When I finally lowered the Mordant Music portcullis after 20 years of sauntering alongside the mainstream I signed off with an EMS-based album entitled Mark of the Mould several tracks from which I re-worked for a Sony/KPM online-only library music release entitled Synthi Spores…during the ensuing C-19 castaway phase I composed a further hefty batch of library-style tunes intended for a mooted album with Sony/KPM, which was looking distinctly likely until my contact there vamoosed and corporate ‘reshuffles’ left the music abandoned and huddled in a folder on my desktop - classic ‘industry’ fayre i've witnessed many times and KPM itself has now moved St. Elsewhere… Enter CiS, who had also previously re-released the Dead Air album and an eMMplekz 12” , to resuscitate ’n’ rally my underscores ’n’ jingles with their renowned gusto…myself and Phil Heeks fashioned a classic KPM-style ‘1000 Series’ sleeve and a random web pop-up provided the ad-hoc title (I was searching for raw plugs at the time)…I’ve made untold library tracks over the years for firms such as Boosey & Hawkes, Cavendish, Universal and Pifco etc and these are certainly some of my favourites, running a gamut of dinky styles for adverts, film and Netflix, whatever that means these days…njoi/endure, IBM

Housekeeping is the new solo album from multi-instrumentalist, poet, novelist and translator Pedro Carmona-Alvarez, who releases his music under the name Moonpedro and The Sinking Ship. Since 2007 he has released five records, Ed Wood (2007), Homegrown (2013), Let´s, Pig (2018) The Beatles Revisited (2018), and KIN (2023). The album title refers to the fact that Pedro Carmona-Alvarez has written and recorded ridiculously many songs that are scattered across his computer - unfinished, half-finished, and almost finished. After turning 50 in 2022, he decided to start letting go of things, releasing them, making them exist in the world, and not just inside his own head. “I’ve always been productive, loving to work a lot and make a lot of crap. Not so good at finishing things, though. But now is the time”, he says. Pedro Carmona-Alvarez was also the singer of Sister Sonny, who released several albums between 1995 and 2007. As a writer, his books are translated to several languages, such as English, German, Danish, Turkish and Czech. He is also translator from Spanish and English, and in 2015 he was handpicked by PJ Harvey to translate her book of book of poems The Hollow of The Hand to both Norwegian and Spanish. 1. ‘Minnet’ is Moonilena’s debut full-length LP, following her EP ‘Tiny Portals’ released by Huntleys + Palmers in 2021.

The record almost comes across as a long-form piece split up in smaller parts, constructed with layered harmony, synthesis experimentations, field recordings and sound design. The material journey through numerous states of mind and there is definitely a narrative in disarray here – sometimes melodic and vaguely warm like tuning in to someone’s faded emotions, sometimes cold and minimalist, like you ended up in some long-forgotten dormant memory of a digital archive.
