Tango with Lions releases her fourth album entitled “you.me.”.

“you.me.” was created in Berlin and recorded in Athens, Greece, between September 2021-January 2022, at Lotus studios with producer Vasilis Dokakis. The nine songs of the album build a tale of reflection on heartbreak and significant life changes, written shortly after the artist’s permanent relocation in Berlin, amid the pandemic.

The lyrics express the need of introspection and of processing the impact of various interactions with different people, time passing and global events. The songs observe, address questions or come to realisations about a different “you”, from the perspective of a different “me” in each tale.

The arrangements are rich in synthesisers, nostalgic bass lines and distinct piano sounds. Some of the songs are built on outgoing beats and instrumentations, other songs are earthly, low-key and acoustic.

Holeg Spies’ 7th album Brave NEW World is a new step towards his creation of an immersive sound world intermixing his various music influences. Touring Europe and Japan, where he was regularly invited to perform thanks to Juno Reactor, Holeg crossed paths with his first filmmaker, the notorious Takashi Miike, for whom he made an audiovisual remix of one of his most famous films, Ichi THE Killer in 2001. His film music duo Savage & Spies created the soundtrack for the cult classic THE Human Centipede, Blacksite, a $15m thriller by the producers of Sicario & John Wick and Abruptio starring Oscar-winner Jordan Peele. Released on Liquid Sound Design in 2021, his latest opus Axis Mundi Reload was based on personal immersive journeys in the steppes of Mongolia and among the Hopi tribe in Arizona and features collaborations with Youth as well as Jaia and DF Tram.

Dreaming Eden is an electronic reverie comprised of drifting melodies, dusty archive sounds and synthesised rhythms.It feels like the soundtrack to a dream, in that nothing stays fixed, melodies develop then collapse, strident rhythms strike up and then unravel into fragments. And like a dream it’s hard to pin down in time- the overall sound is not quite contemporary, and neither is it a vintage re-enactment. Taking inspiration from Christopher Priest’s novel A Dream of Wessex, the record echoes the 20th century take on the notion of virtual reality - one where participants escape the harsh reality of their world into a kind of consensus utopian future. 500 copies on orange vinyl with artwork by Kyron and Jim Jupp. Includes a free download code card.

The album consists of improvisation from a duo, in which both musicians play guitar and effects. Joseba and Mikel are good friends and know each other very well but, at the same time, they had never played together before. This mutual ambivalent (un-) knowledge creates an unrepeatable situation of intimate distrust. They interact vigilantly, very close to one another, neither artist able to escape. Compact tension crosses the album and the friction of its content takes them to irrepressible eruptions. In doing so, their interplay becomes arid. Lepok drags us with them until we are irremediably buried.

Defining such complex musicians and their scene seemed very difficult to us. A closer point of view may be warmer and more precise. Because of that, we asked two relevant personalities of this milieu to help us: journalist Antton Iturbe and musician Ibonrg, who kindly agreed to shed some light on the subject.

Kevin Basko released more albums in 2019 than most artists do in their entire career. The New Jersey indie rocker released handfuls of records in the first seven years under the moniker Rubber Band Gun--not to mention producing, engineering, and performing with everyone from Eric Slick to the Lemon Twigs. But when Basko’s friend and collaborator Jonathan Rado of Foxygen quipped that he should release 25 albums in a single year, the Rubber Band Gun 25 sprang to life. And at the heart of that diverse collection of records is Cashes Out, a record that not only stands as the first vinyl release for the project, but also showcases the dazzling and dizzying heights that Rubber Band Gun psych-tinged bedroom rock can reach. As many of the albums in Basko’s big year carried unified themes, Cashes Out was written with the express idea that it would be Basko’s big leap into the conventionality of the music business. That said, rather than streamline or simplify for that pop approach, the record retains the multiplicity of ideas and tones that run through the Rubber Band Gun catalog. After opening with introspective piano, “My Time” erupts in a spray of ‘70s neon and the album never looks back. That step out of time is particularly fitting, as holing up in his home studio of Historic New Jersey has meant that Basko’s music lives in its own context rather than any particular scene or trend. “I’m more of a fish out of water, but I’m creating my own scene that is without a true geographical home base,” he explains. “In some way, that makes me very Jersey-ish because I’m not giving up despite a lack of acceptance into a certain culture.”

After showcases at Roadburn Redux (2021) and Eurosonic (January 2022), already 4 (!) repressings of debut album Unfold the God Man within just a year of its release, and big gigs at Alcatraz Festival and supporting Amenra, we can safely say that there is massive buzz around this band. Psychonaut literally came from out of nowhere -Mechelen, Belgium, to be precise- but their sophomore album Unfold The God Man made waves in the post- and progressive metal scenes: an intricate concept album tackling philosophical and existential themes and ultimately exploring mankind's re-ascension to a higher level of consciousness, the nearly 70-minute-long Unfold The God Man contained material from over 3 years of incessant writing, arranging and recording. This spring, Psychonaut released a new split album with Oslo's Sa^ver, titled Emerald. The band premiered an in-studio play-through of their 16-minutes contribution The Great Realisation, a track about the start of both an individual and a collective awakening, at this year's digital edition of Roadburn Festival April - a full-on assault on the senses brimming with ingenuity, from the creative drumming to the amazingly talented Stefan de Graef's idionsyncratic guitar playing, all the way to the use of didgeridoos and tribal percussion, The Great Realisation showcased truly world class musicianship and songwriting abilities. Ferocious Fellowman, an EP originally released in 2016, is the band's 2nd release, tucked between 2014's debut album "24 Trips Around The Sun" and 2020's "Unfold The God Man". Long sold out and sought after, it was about time for a reissue of this seminal release, which paved the way for Unfold The God Man. Influenced by 70's bands like Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd but also drawing inspiration from contemporary heavy artists like Tool or Amenra, the three-piece made themselves a solid name across the European underground with a raw and compelling live show, which merges their wall of sound with intense visual landscapes and moody lighting design. Contrast and variation are the two main anchors on which they base their musical and visual ideas, and watching the band perform live makes you wonder how they manage to pull of this immensely orchestral, polyphonic sound with just 3 players: Psychonaut are an absolute sight to behold on stage. Rare New Jersey band from the '70s in a grooving, jamming rock—a la Grateful Dead (in their seventies garb, post Pig Pen), Allman Brothers (with Duane still alive), Little Feat—vein. This is the kind of record that gets better the more it goes on, with side two being one of the most desirable in the whole genre. Mad Fables came together in the 1970s before such labels as "jam band" or “indie band" existed. They self-produced and published their own music—they released Get Off in 1977—and established a base of friends who enjoyed music and community. They called it "making a record". Every year Mad Fables would celebrate the end of winter and arrival of Spring, by throwing a huge party to which the entire world was invited. Attendees were asked to bring their signature dish or beverage and the group would play spirited sets of music. The leftovers usually fed the group for a month. Mad Fables drew thousands of people to their self-run events. Far more people say they “saw the band live” than actually exist in the state of New Jersey! After the group disbanded around 1980, the feasts continued as a type of once a year reunion. Shockingly enough, the Feast was held for 30 consecutive years. Mad Fables music was never destined for commercial acceptance. In its best years, its members’ incomes would never rise to the poverty line. But for those who were touched by it, the music burns brightly even today. According to the band, Mad Fables' music was the result of a process "that nourished and drew upon their collective experience, fusing the music with whatever emotions arose while playing. This audio alchemy unleashed an energy that enveloped those tuned to this type of frequency, and drove all to a joyful madness.” 500 copy pressing on black vinyl with insert and a back cover design (the rare original didn't have any).

Voice Imitator is the collaborative project of PER Bystrom, Justin Fuller, Mark Groves, and Leon O’regan. All four have been active as part of numerous, cross-genre ventures in the Australian underground for many years. Bystrom has offered a rhythmic heart for Exhaustion and Leather Towel, whilst further expanding on metrical ideas in Compound, his solo electronic undertaking. Zond, TOL, Grane and various solo outings have all showcased Fuller’s severely manipulated, hallucinogenic guitar and unsettling electronics. O’Regan has provided lithe, turbulent and imaginative bass guitar for THE Bunyip Moon, and antagonistic industrial electronics as Dire Ears. Groves, as vocalist, has previously oscillated between the idiosyncratic combination of drily delivered text, close-miked voice and concrète sound for RED Wine AND Sugar and solo project Absurd Cosmos Late Nite, as well as functioning as frontperson for noise rock and heavy electronic acts True Radical Miracle and Dead Boomers. In Voice Imitator, these four pursue mutual auditory fixations and eccentric individual inputs toward a distinctive and cohesive unit. Groves’ texts are the outcome of anxious and fatigued surveillance, emerging as bleak satire and quietly surreal flashes drawn from the mundane. Vacillating awkwardly between barely contained frustration and ironic detachment, this voice is ushered by a relentless ostinato pulse, washes of heavily effected guitar, subterranean electronic noise and a tense ambience of self-conscious nervousness. Recurring undercurrents of motorik rhythm, and motor city techno draw shared obsession together, providing an altogether new construction. Much like the allegory of a boiling frog, here tension slowly builds to an aggressively muscular conclusion.

Manufactured Recordings reissues two Indian Classical LPs, Songs Of India from prominent vocalist Nitai Dasgupta and Three Sitar Pieces by trained instrumentalist Pandit Kanwar Sain Trikha, both originally released on Vic Keary’s underground label, Mushroom Records, in the early 70s.

While Vic Keary’s background was in reggae, Mushroom Records dabbled in recording a bit of everything. Mostly known for hyper-rare Psych, Prog and Acid Folk, Nitai Dasgupta and Pandit Kanwar Sain Trikha’s diverse LPs fit in perfectly with their British Psych and Prog label mates like Simon Finn, Magic Carpet, and Chillum.

Nitai Dasgupta was one of the most talented Indian classical singers in Great Britain. His sweetness and flexibility created a unique style complemented by his melodious voice and composing abilities. Songs Of India pleases the lovers of Indian classical and semi-classical music while enticing pop and folk lovers. This LP even caught the ears of acclaimed electronic artist, Four Tet, who featured track “Cham Cham Cham Cham” on his NTS Radio show.

I inherited the Nital Dasgupta LP from my grandfather. I’ve no idea how he came to have it and after he died it sat on a shelf for many years before I found it and gave it a listen. – Kieran Hebden aka Four Tet

It's unusual for an act to hit its peak after four decades. Yet here it is. The Nightingales have
notoriously had a new label for each new album, a fact which might reasonably call for
consumer caution, but they don't fit in with anything like a scene, they speak their own
musical language, and while they bust out slogans about being "slightly superior to others of
their ilk" . . . the truth is, they have no ilk. Faust's Hans-Joachim Irmler adds keyboards and
The Lovely Eggs' Holly Blackwell's languid voice features on one song. John Peel noted, "Their
performances will serve to confirm their excellence when we are far enough distanced from
the 1980s to look at the period rationally and other, infinitely better known, bands stand
revealed as charlatans". It's doubtful he would have bothered with such a pre-emptive defence
if he'd been able to witness the explosive growth of the band during their second incarnation.
Perish The Thought will be promoted by a far-flung tour, from Scotland to Serbia. 180g vinyl,

Expo 70, held in Osaka, was a pivotal event for the Japanese people and their relationship with the rest of the world, demonstrating both the nation’s ongoing economic recovery from World War Two and the creative spirit of Japanese society and its artists. A series of performances, billed as “Night Events” were held at the Expo; the most radical of these was "Beam Penetration and Mad Computer, plus the Minimal Sound of Motorcycles”, but its anti-establishment feel and general madness took the Expo organizers by surprise and it was cancelled after only one night, despite being scheduled for a longer run. An air of myth developed around the event, but a recording of the event has been discovered and this release is the result. This release comprises a CD, a 10-inch record with fold-out sleeve and large obi, plus fascinating notes in Japanese and English by Kenichi Yasuda, an expert on Japanese rock music, and Koji Kawasaki, a renowned researcher of Japanese electronic music, as well as rare photos.
