Predating both Sonic Youth and Swans’ debut albums by a year, Zourokuno Kibyou, initially released in 1982, quickly vaulted Kansai noise rockers Hijokaidan to indie music fame. Compiling their early, borderline grotesque, extreme live performances, Zourokuno Kibyou is as much a historical document as it is one of the heaviest noise albums to ever come out of Japan. With cover art by legendary horror manga artist Hideshi Hino and a booklet containing photos from the wild performances that Hijokaidan was famous for, this is sure to satisfy even the most hardcore of hardcore fans. Sabotage Organized Barbarian, best known by their acronym S.O.B were part of a hardcore punk movement in the 80s that envigorated Japanese youth along with other acts like Gism and Gauze. The ravaging tempos and punishing aural densities grappled with the ears, and their sphere of influence quickly broke the banks of their native Osaka, with acts like Napalm Death acknowledging the bands importance for their own sound and grindcore to come.

In 1988, S.O.B teamed up with Alchemy Records founder Jojo Hiroshige, and his prolific Japanoise band Hijokaidan to form S.O.B Kaidan. With Hiroshige’s crushing distortion squeals stacked on top of S.O.B’s high-tempo percussive aggression, the two made quick work of anything that dared to obstruct their path at the cross-sections of hardcore and noise.

Their only LP Noise Violence and Destroy remains the only relic of their collaboration, and has become hard to find. The initial batch of 3000 LPs were quickly snapped up, and the brief CD runs that followed are now rare items. As part of the Alchemy Records Essential Collections series, P-vine is thrilled to reissue Noise Violence and Destroy on limited edition vinyl for the first time with an iconic Japanese obi strip attached.

Jojo Hiroshige is probably best known as the main driving force behind Japanese noise band Hijokaidan and its numerous transformations. His group Slap Happy Humphrey - formed with fellow Alchemy Records noise maker and Angel’in Heavy Syrup singer Mineko Itakura - was in some ways a departure from Hiroshige’s typical noise undertakings. On their first and only LP, the self-titled record is immersed in opposites and contrasts that work in tandem - of folk and noise, of calm and rupture. P-vine is delighted to present the first ever vinyl reissue of the 1994 album with an iconic Japanese obi strip attached.

As a revival of Doji Morita’s hauntingly bleak folk swept across Japan in the early 90s, so too did Hiroshige wish to step into Morita’s dark fantastical world armed with his guitar. With cover songs selected from Morita’s first four albums, Itakura’s vocals bring out the ethereal charm of Morita's writing across these tracks with third member and Subvert Blaze frontman, Hiroaki Fujiwara, backing her on acoustic guitar and violin. Against this backdrop of the duo’s acid folk harmonies, Hiroshige finds opportune moments to thrust his most volatile concoctions of noise and blissful distortion.

Although there were not that many psychedelic rock bands made up of all females in the world of the 1980s, "Angel'in Heavy Syrup" was the rarity one existing in the underground scene of rock and punk in Kyoto / Osaka area along with SxOxB, Outo, Nightmare and Hijo-Kaidan etc. Following reissuing the debut album of Japanese female psychedelic rock band "angel'in Heavy Syrup" last year, P-vine proudly presents their succeed releases on vinyl for the first time! Their third album, with its brilliant psychedelic cover artwork, is regarded as the greatest work of their career. Compared to their previous albums, the sound production is even more progressive rock-oriented, and includes songs such as 'Boku Dakega...', which encompasses a sad melody like that of Morita Doji, and the instrumental 'Water Mind', which develops into a spectacular piece of music. The album is the most fantastic of the entire works of their career.

This is a compilation album by three bands in the Kansai underground scene in the late 70s, including Hijokaidan, which laid the foundation for noise and industrial music in Japan. Since it was released two years before the first album "Zouroku no Kibyou" (1982) , this is sometimes regarded as Hijokaidan making their debut with this compilation. Decades after the release of this album, Japanese noise music stretched out their arms to the world.
