What would it sound like if Ginger Root was asked to make the soundtrack to an American adaptation of a fictitious Japanese film from 1981 entitled, (Machi No Yatsu)? You'd get their new EP, 'City Slicker'. While the previous Ginger Root albums have had themes of introspectiveness and observations on past personal experiences, this upcoming release is the first collection of songs written from an outside perspective. The first collection of songs that live in a fabricated world. A short 19 minute escape to a metropolis that never was. Following a protagonist whose neighbors call him the 'City Slicker'. On this EP, Ginger Root continues to pioneer their self-proclaimed genre: 'Aggressive Elevator Soul'. By blending the bones and blueprints from the works of Yacht Rock and City Pop, with textures from the ever evolving Bedroom Pop scene, glueing them all together fruitions something uniquely Ginger Root.

The legends and mysteries of Capri have inspired the duo that Marie Modiano and Peter von Poehl have been working together for almost twenty years on their second album, Capri: Ballad of the Spirits, to be released on their Nest & Sound label. Three years after the graceful gothic tale Songs From The Other Side, which was widely acclaimed by the critics and gave rise to a show staged at the Centre Pompidou in Paris. The Franco-Swedish couple, who are fast becoming iconic and have no equal when it comes to interweaving airy poetry and pointillist pop, here summon the spirits and celebrate the majesty of the Isola Azzurra on a soundtrack enhanced by the groove of drummer Larry Mullins(Nick Cave, Iggy Pop) and superb brass arrangements.

Pem has been garnering recognition for her silencing live performances, receiving long listings for 2023's Glastonbury Emerging Talent and Green Man Rising competitions and securing support slots with The Last Dinner Party, The New Eves and Mary in the Junkyard. cloud work is a collection of five songs that Pem wrote during an intensely challenging chapter in her life. Full of references to water, sky, flight, memory, and birds, these are the metaphors and symbols that helped her work through the grief of losing her father last year. She says, “the process of creating ‘cloud work’ enabled me to find beauty, meaning and comfort in a very difficult time."

Pem is the outpouring of Bristol-based, multi-disciplinary artist and songwriter Emily Perry. Her songs blend unfiltered storytelling with swooping melodies, transporting listeners into a world of vulnerable introspection. This powerful intimacy was first unveiled with her 2022 debut EP, songs about hands, which was written during her intensive psychotherapy training and explores themes of memory, connection and disassociation.

Barber IN THE Livingroom is a 5-member city pop band based in Fukuoka that has become a hot topic with its soulful singing voice and groovy rhythm section, along with a jacket drawn by Hiroshi Nagai. Continuing from last year, the long-awaited second album "Moon& Palms" will be released at "citypop on Vinyl 2024"! If the debut album "Barber IN THE Livingroom" was a landscape of daylight and mirages, "Moon & Palms" is a landscape of lights and nighttime flights flowing from dusk to night. Like the previous album, this album was produced remotely, and the songs and sounds spun by the members far away become five birds, gliding over skyscrapers, over the city, and soaring beyond the horizon of the ocean...a song that evokes the image of... is being knitted.

Swedish synth-pop phenomenon Kite's second 7 inch since signing with Dais in 2023 finds the duo of Nicklas Stenemo and Christian Hutchinson Berg swinging for new heights of romantic desolation and baroque grandeur. They describe the A Side, "Losing," as a "six-minute empty call for emotional response." Stately piano and anguished voice reverberate in a vaulted hall, before gradually building into a widescreen anthem of synths, drums, and soaring vocals decrying the steady deadening of life and love: "It's deadly quiet in your old heart / Are you there? / I see dark skies on the rise / And daylight shows no remorse / And I realize it is my life / But It's losing all meaning." Swedish dark music icons Anna von Hausswolff and Henric de la Cour join the chorus as the song cascades towards an ominous horizon. The B Side, "Glassy Eyes," showcases Kite's mastery of somber, sweeping balladry. Hushed church organ elevates and anchors Stenemo's devastated confessional, swaying between resilience and defeat. The band describes the song as a reckoning with "the privileged and existential anxiety of drifting through life dispassionately," contrasted with "the yearning to connect profoundly with others and a desire for experiences that stir the soul before facing one's final moments." Like a hymn, the emotion thickens as it deepens, approaching both darkness and divinity: "Deep as I go, nothing to find / Oh catatonia, I won't cry / Nothing can grow, everything dies / Behind my glassy eyes."

Friction is one of the first Japanese punk bands and formed by Reck, Chiko Hige and Lapis in Tokyo in March 1978, and now the band is still keeping active. Reck and Chiko Hige had previously been on the NY no wave scene as founding members of James Chance and the Contortions, and brought back the experience and influence to the Japanese music scene. It's no exaggeration to say that the band laid the foundation for alternative music in Japan. P-vine is proud of reissuing all of their albums on vinyl.

79 Live" captures Friction's live performance at a venue in Kyoto, called TakuTaku in December 1979, four months before the release of their debut album "Friction" which is known as a masterpiece of the history of Japanese punk. This live performance has widely been regarded as the best performance in their career and Reck himself referred to it as "it was like a miracle,".

Swedish songwriter and multi-instrumentalist FredAtlast has announced his debut EP 'Banner Of A Lost Belief' to be released on Small Matter Records. Fred, currently better known for his day job as the bassist in Little Dragon, describes lead single 'One Day' as 'A meditation on impermanence and our way of dealing with loss. A plea to our nearest to be: nearer, dearer and more daring'. The EP was written in Fred's kitchen under the spiritual guidance of the late author Sven Lindqvist and has been his way of finding a direct voice, embracing a new sound and diving into the deep well. It was recorded in the Little Dragon studio in Gothenburg with help and support from the rest of the band who feature in different ways on the EP.
