1968 dives further into the psychedelia that FRANCE GALL was hinting at on Baby Pop. Even with addition of sitars and echoes of The Beatles, The Stones, The Kinks and Pet Sounds era Beach Boys all over this record it is still 100% French and could only have been made by France Gall. The addition of English expat producer/arranger, DAVID WHITAKER, brought a new and welcome airiness to the mix that was lacking on Gall’s earlier recordings. The album contains 2 of Serge Gainsbourg’s strangest and most out there arrangements, “Nefertiti” and “Teenie Weenie Boppie” about an LSD trip gone horribly wrong. 1968 is an absolutely essential addition to any record collection. 180-gram vinyl pressing in direct-to-board jackets.

After 53 years of oblivion, Walkin Up con Los Walkers, the fundamental work of Argentinian garage-psych is being reissued again in Argentina from the original mono master tape. An iconic LP from “the other” youngster music—the one that was known as “beat music"—it was originally released in 1969 and has never been reissued in its original format until now. The band had previously released two LPs and several 45s which contained an exquisite selection of covers, from The Rolling Stones material to songs by Astor Piazzola, but with Walkin’ Up they entered history as excellent songwriters and conceptual artists. With a great use of studio production, unseen before in Argentina, they laid down a wide range of psychedelic sounds and structures that decades later are be considered as the Buenos Aires version of Los Shakers’ La Conferencia Secreta del Toto’s Bar—both albums under a huge influence from The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s. Limited edition of 300 copies on 180-gram vinyl with the careful restoration and printing of the original artwork. Includes a printed postcard and a lavish 4-page booklet with photos and liner notes by journalist Víctor Tapia.

He remained with the Label until switching to Capitol in 1962, by which time he had released no fewer than 13 long-players including 'At The Copa', 'Two Of A Kind' (with Johnny Mercer), the dance themed 'Twist With Bobby Darin' and 'Bobby Darin Sings Ray Charles'. With a million orders for “I Want To Hold Your Hand” in the UK, the single shot to #1 in December 1963 knocking The Beatles’ own “She Loves You” from the top spot. This was to be the first official single for The Beatles on Capitol records and was backed by an extraordinary marketing campaign. With “I Saw Her Standing There” replacing “This Boy” for the other side, the single was rush-released in the USA in January 1964, climbing to #1 on the Hot 100 by February 1st. Remaining on the chart for 15 weeks, it went on to sell more than 12 million copies worldwide, and with that, an unstoppable force was unleashed and Beatlemania had truly arrived. This RSD Black Friday reissue single was cut from the original US version of the master tapes –- the same masters as used for the albums in the 1964 box set -- by Kevin Reeves in Nashville, using an all-analog cutting process and on the same 1970 lathe that was in Capitol and has been used on many classic album cuts over the years.
