Last Of A Kind” was, last year, more than just a “comeback album” for PANZERCHRIST. Right, it was a whole decade since the release of their previous record “7th Offensive”, but the Danes came back with a vengeance in their eighth offering. New blood joined the hardcore duo of the lineup (bassist and keyboardist Michael “Panzergeneral” Enevoldsen and guitarist Frederik O’Carroll), most notably vocalist Sonja Rosenlund Ahl, whose malicious tone fitted like a glove the newfound black/death metal style of the band.Not surprisingly, the critics loved “Last Of A Kind”, as well as the fans and, after the release, Panzerchrist played several festival shows in Denmark while Michael Enevoldsen began working on the following album. Enter “Maleficium Part I”, a set of material where the band made a conscious decision to steer the Panzerchrist sound towards a more death metal direction. When the group coincidentally bumped into Ove Lungskov (also of Rotten Ocean), they asked him to try out for the drummer position. Ove, a big fan of Panzerchrist’s previous work, initially thought they were joking, but it quickly became clear that he was the perfect fit. His playing style not only matched the band’s previous material but also aligned perfectly with their future vision. STEEL INFERNO has been, slowly but surely, cementing their name in the European speed metal scene in the last decade. 2024 re-release of Marching Orders' second LP originally recorded between February and October 2012 and released in 2013. This re-release contains re-worked and updated artwork plus insert jacket with full lyrics/band pics and credits.Living Proof was branded 'The best Marching Orders release ever' by reviewers and featured songs that are still played regularly at live shows today. From 'Dog Eat Dog' to 'Spirit Of 84' to the drumless ballad 'Hand Of Fate' there was a wide range of song-writing on the album to appeal to all. Rooted firmly in their Australian environment, the influences are evident with nods to the likes of The Angels and Rose Tattoo. It was around this time that the band started to peak domestically with an appearance at the Pugs Day Out Festival in Sydney to rave reviews. Then, on Giacomo's recommendation, pianist Joe Webb joined the party, and the stage was suddenly set for a change in Snorre Kirk's work and celebrated career as drummer, composer, and bandleader. The first meetings took place in 2019. The following year, the coronavirus put the music scene on standby, and it wasn't until 2023 that the quartet, which included Giacomo Smith, Joe Webb, Danish bassist Anders Fjeldsted, and Snorre Kirk himself, came together and became what would be his current and permanent primary project. What A Day! is the first release with the new line-up, and the quartet is complemented on three tracks by Alexander Bouton, who fills the role of rhythm guitarist in the same spirit Freddie Green did with Count Basie's band. People are listening and like what they hear - Snorre Kirk's music has palpable appeal. Over the years, his popularity has grown, and he often sells out concerts on European stages. On Lea Kampmann's new album Seinferð, she invites listeners into a musical space that evokes the sensation of being inside an acoustic guitar. In a harmonious blend of folk and singer/songwriter pop, she conveys the atmospheric mood of the Faroe Islands' stunning nature through the tonal colors of sound. Seinferð, which means 'slow motion' in Faroese, encapsulates an important story about reconnecting with oneself by moving at one's own pace. Danish/Faroese singer Lea Kampmann had previously only released music in English. However, when she lost her grandmother, one of the strongest connections she had to the Faroe Islands was severed. One way she found her way 'home' again was by writing songs in Faroese. The album's eight tracks were co-written with Faroese musician and producer Teitur during a snowstorm in Tórshavn. As the snow whipped against the windows, they found inspiration together for a call to resist the hectic pace, stress, and fast tempo that characterize our society today. 'Seinferð is an inner rebellion against the idea that you have to run as fast as others when it doesn't feel right for you,' says the 27-year-old singer. On the album, Lea not only turns her gaze towards her own roots but also towards the roots of music. The production consists solely of acoustic instruments, apart from the odd synthesizer, which are a conceptual part of her call for slow motion. Instead of relying on technology, machines, screens, and all the quick fixes that the digitalized society offers, she chose to have the music reflect the slow, natural, bodily, and human as an essential prerequisite for keeping pace with the body, the earth, and nature. Thus, it's not just the lyrics that stand in opposition to societal trends of growth, speed, and profit—the musical and production expressions do as well. With Seinferð, Lea Kampmann hopes to spread one of the Nordic minority languages across borders— not with a political speech, but through music and a language that is often overlooked on the Danish music scene, despite the Faroe Islands being part of the Danish realm and thus an integral part of Danish society and culture. Lee Holman's forthcoming release, 'NECH026,' marks his return to NECHTO, following his 2022 EP on Nastia's imprint. With an uncompromising underground ethos, Holman has built a solid international reputation through his distinctive techno sound. His performances as a live act and DJ have taken him to prestigious venues like TRESOR Berlin, Khidi Tbilisi, and Corsica Studios London. Known for his vast record collection and dynamic performances, Holman's productions have earned international acclaim.
The upcoming EP evolved organically, with three of the five tracks being part of Holman's live shows for NECHTO events. The lead track, "Wave upon Wave," was recorded live after an event in Kyiv, while the other two were from a session at Khidi Tbilisi. Holman initially did not plan to release these tracks, keeping his live performances unique for each night. The bonus track, "It's Not Over," features a beautiful vocal piece and soulful techno accompaniment.
