Recorded in 1974, at the Royal Hotel in Luton, with Braxton playing soprano and alto saxophones, and Bb and contrabass clarinets. Two volumes were planned; only one was issued, till now. This was one of the first transatlantic meetings between leading free improvisers. Many of Braxton’s signature techniques and ideas were gestated in such sessions. It still brims with inquisitive musical creativity and knockabout jazzbo allusiveness.

Recorded in 1971, Solo Guitar Volume 1 was Bailey’s first solo album. Its cover is an iconic montage of photos taken in the guitar shop where he worked. He and the photographer piled up the instruments whilst the proprietor was at lunch, with Bailey promptly sacked on his return.
The LP was issued in two versions over the years — Incus 2 and 2R — with different groupings of free improvisations paired with Bailey’s performances of notated pieces by his friends Misha Mengelberg, Gavin Bryars and Willem Breuker.
All this music is here, plus a superb solo performance at York University in 1972; a welcome shock at the end of an evening of notated music. It’s a striking demonstration of the way Bailey rewrote the language of the guitar with endless inventiveness, intelligence and wit.

As a photographer, visual artist and member of the cosmic brain-bending trio Devin Gary & Ross, Ross Goldstein has built a layered catalog of softly psychedelic artistic output, but none has been as personal as the sonic spiderweb of his second solo album Inverted Jenny. The last time Ross showed up solo was in 2007 on the quietly-released Trail Songs, a collection of more Americana-leaning songcraft. A decade later, he picks up on threads started on his debut, but continues in a far more inward direction, blurring deftly arranged instrumental backdrops with patient, bucolic songwriting for a discreetly epic modern classic in headphone music. Ross travels through a glowing internal world with these songs, observing moments of both stillness and the sublime from a distance. There's a sheen of loneliness that runs throughout, but never a bitterness. The record opens with a trifecta of Van Dyke Parks-tinged open road songs, but even in the joyful discovery of these songs there's the sense that they're viewed from a loner's perspective. This feeling only grows as things shift from roadside distractions to the plush instrumentals and gentle vibes that make up the record's second half. Gorgeous arrangements set up a playful conversation between warm synths, stoned guitar leads, meticulously placed touches of chamber pop orchestration, and even sounds of the natural world from Ross' own field recordings, always buzzing with life. By the end of the album we've walked alongside for a while, watching the songs navigate their lonesome internal landscape like a late night wearing blissfully into morning. At the end of this night (and every other night, really) there's no answer to be found, no great revelation besides wandering along into another beautiful morning.

Eccie Bam Yas, E?' began life as a meditative piece rather than the rocket-fuelled out-rock the band is more associated with. Trumpeter/ Composer Sefi Zisling incorporates Afro-Jazz with Psychedelic Funk in this new solo project. Sefi is known as the top trumpeter of Tel Aviv's Jazz & Funk scene. While still attending high school, Sefi performed with various funk and groove acts, laying the foundations for many more musical encounters and fruitful collaborations with other members of the ever-growing Tel Aviv music scene. Sefi performed with bands such as The Ramirez Brothers, Kutiman Orchestra, Funknstein, Gili Yalo, and many more. Today, after fifteen years of recording and performing all over the world alongside almost everyone within the Israeli music scene, Sefi is taking a step forward to release his debut solo album.
'Beyond The Things I Know' has been supported and broadcasted by Giles Peterson on his BBC Radio 6 Music Show, by Toshio Matsuraa on Tokyo Moon Radio and many other radio shows around the world. This is another release from 'Time Grove Selections', the unique series under the Raw Tapes Records umbrella, in which top local musicians are hand-picked to produce solo albums. The album itself is a result of a brief encounter that led to a close friendship between Sefi Zisling and multi-instrumentalist/producer, Rejoicer. The music was created in a three-day studio encounter and ranges from Afro-Jazz to spaced-out beats with influences of Spiritual Jazz, African music and Psychedelic Funk, all led by the trumpet. Nitai Hershkovits is a pianist and composer based in NY. Mostly known from collaborating with renowned bassist Avishai Cohen in the studio and on tour. Combining the classical and Jazz worlds with singer-songwriting elements, Nita's compositions and playing are simple with a twist of complexity. Quickly gaining recognition from critics around the world, Nitai was hailed as 'a genuine prodigy' by The New York Times and 'a remarkable pianist ,reminiscent of a swinger such as the late Hank Jones" by The Guardian. Nitai's debut album I Asked You A Question (Raw Tapes) was released in February 2016. The album, co-produced by Rejoicer (loops and synths) featuring Nitai on vocals, Piano and synths. LA based singer and Stones Throw Records artist Georgia Anne Muldrow and acclaimed guitarist Kurt Rosenwinkel joins Nitai on two of the tracks. Exploring the realm of analog electronics, samples and beats, I Asked You A Question is an eclectic, empirical yet genuine attempt of blending improvised ideas and through-composed music. The album is played regularly on Radio Nova, TSF Jazz and on Los Angeles' KCRW radio as well as on many playlists in Germany, UK, Japan to name a few; French 'Jazz Magazine' refers to it as "Revelation", while UK Vibes describes it as "a wonderfully thoughtful collection of tunes that is refreshingly different to much else on offer". After a successful debut show in Jazz a Vienne 2016, I Asked You a Question will see Nitai and Rejoicer touring throughout 2017 in different venues across Europe, specifically Paris, Berlin, Zurich and London. The new album is available in HHV in Germany, Disk Union and Jet Records in Japan, AMEOBA in the US and Rough Trade in London.

The band began writing the album last January, and later in the year, performed the songs at a series of secret shows under fake names. They recorded the album with producer John Congleton (Sleater-Kinney, David Byrne, St. Vincent, Cloud Nothings) in Los Angeles at Sunset Sound (where artists like the Beach Boys and Prince have recorded).

Dieter Moebius (1944–2015) was one of the most important protagonists of avant-garde electronic music in Germany. He was founder member of Kluster/Cluster (with Conrad Schnitzer and Hans-Joachim Roedelius) and Harmonia (with Michael Rother and Hans-Joachim Roedelius) and worked together with several artists such as Brian Eno, Conny Plank, Mayo Thompson, Hellmut Hattler, Asmus Tietchens, Gerd Beerbohm, Karl Renziehausen, Mani Neumeier, Arno Steffen, Jürgen Engler, Jean Hervé Peron, Zappi Diermaier, and Chris Karrer. On July 20th, 2015 Dieter Moebius died.

In 2012 Dieter Moebius was invited to perform music to Fritz Lang’s legendary silent film “Metropolis”. For this purpose he produced pre-arranged tracks and samples to be treated with effects and combined during live improvisation according to the dramaturgical setting of the film. His impressive work reveals its full power and depth in combination with the images from the film.

It was his plan to create an album-length version of this music for release. Unfortunately, Dieter Moebius passed away on July 20, 2015 and was not able to complete the project. With the help and support of Dieter Moebius’ widow Irene and two longtime musical partners, Tim Story and Jon Leidecker, the Berlin musician Jonas Förster finished the remaining work and completed the production.

The album found Sam Beam the bands principle member working once again with longtime associate Brian Deck (Modest Mouse, Califone). The record marks the last time the two would work together on a journey that began with the bands second record, Endless Numbered Days. It also marked a shift for the two from working in Chicago to setting up in New York City. The idea behind the move was to tap into the creative musical community New York had to offer.The line-up that helped bring Beam's vision for Ghost on Ghost to life included a who's who from the jazz community as well as the deep wells of outside art including Steve Bernstein (Sex Mob/Levon Helm Band), Rob Burger (Tin Hat Trio), Brian Blade, Curtis Fowlkes (The Jazz Passengers), Tony Garnier (Bob Dylan Band), Marika Hughes, Briggan Kraus, Maxim Moston, Tony Scherr (The Lounge Lizards), Doug Wieselman, Kenny Wolleson (Tom Watis/John Zorn) and Anja Wood. Being able have the finest in musicians in New York City perform on the record, elevating these songs into places he never imagined Beam stated, "it was an honor -- really inspiring."Beam stated at the time that Ghost on Ghost takes it's inspiration from records like Nilsson Schmilsson, Ram, Mingus Moves and What's Going On. The merger of Harry’s signature
production and Spitta’s deadly flow show
why XXL Magazine named it the ""2012
EP of the Year."" The duo decided it was
time to make Cigarette Boats available in
all formats, releasing the instrumentals
exclusively on vinyl.
Fraud recalled his audition for Curren$y,
after meeting him while working on a
Smoke DZA project: ""I had met Curren$y
briefly for one second at a radio station,
but that was the first time we really kicked
it. He just asked me to play some beats,
and I played like five beats, and he was
just like, 'Yo, I need all of those. We gotta
do a little EP with those.'” Those same
five beats became the entire sound bed
for the ‘Cigarette Boats’."

Medusa's First Step Beyond might have forevershifted the perception of Chicago rock history had it managedto make the leap from tape to its never-realized vinyl pressing.Instead, the confl agation of Sabbath, Hawkwind, and Amon DuulII remained petrifi ed in the Corycian Caverns_otherwise knownas the drummer's basement. Self-produced on four track in 1975,this lone transmission from Medusa's repertoire appeared on theextremely mysterious Pepperhead label, whose proprietor allegedlydisappeared after a bad trip and was never been seen again. Forgedin ceremonial mock-velvet, custom embossed in Gorgon-goldand blood-red, and art directed in accordance with the band'selaborate original stage props and artwork, we have positionedthis unreleased opus to fi nally reach its destination: the stereosof pot-smoking and leather-clad teenagers, young and old. Theexpanded CD version (also ensconced in ceremonial mock-velvetwith embossed artwork) boasts a wealth of new band photos andephemera as well as three additional tracks not available on the LP.Prior to tracking First Step Beyond, Chicago proto-metal quintetMedusa headed three miles west to the Village of Oak Park and cuttheir debut 7" at Stephen Wilcox's Pepperhead custom studio. Theresulting versions of "Strangulation" and "Temptress" are a touchfurther unhinged than their sororal album twins, as phased-outscraps of psychedelia and bleeding solos maxed out Pepperhead's8-track rig.
