Cult horror movie Speak No Evil's soundtrack by Sune "Køter" Kølster out in May

Speak No Evil (2022) is a psychological horror thriller film directed by Christian Tafdrup. The critically acclaimed film has been praised on its directing and performances of the cast as well as its supple social commentary, tone and suspense. Followed by an American remake in 2024, Speak No Evil has gained a cult following around the world.

The movie's eerie soundtrack composed by Sune" Køter "Kølster will finally be available on vinyl and CD in May 2025. The awardwinning Danish filmcomposer is known for his scores for featurefilms, shorts and TV, with a masterdegree in filmscoring from Academy Of Music & Dramatic Arts, Southern Denmark.

Speak No Evil (Original Soundtrack) is available on limited transparent violet vinyl, classic black vinyl, and digipak CD. Contains a booklet with still photos from the movie and liner notes from the composer and the director. Release date May 9th, 2025.

This immersive electronic album blends kosmische, motorik rhythms, and spectral atmospheres, drawing listeners deep into the mysterious heart of the Irish Midlands.

A visionary in avant-garde music, Heery's compositions have been performed by ensembles including the RTE Symphony Orchestra, Crash Ensemble, Quiet Music Ensemble, and Talujon Percussion Ensemble. With 'Bog Summoner', he channels his deep-rooted fascination with science fiction, occult mysticism, and bio-aesthetic philosophy into a record that pulsates with both history and otherworldly energy.

Evolving organically during the recording process, 'Bog Summoner' became a sprawling, shape-shifting entity. Influences range from the live recordings of Harmonia to the cosmic explorations of Tangerine Dream’s 'Phaedra' and 'Rubycon' , all while steeped in what Heery describes as ‘Bog Gothic’ —an eerie evocation of East County Galway’s mist-laden bogs and buried histories.

One key track, 'Uí Máine', takes its name from the medieval Irish clan that ruled the region. Heery was particularly intrigued by the 16th-century alchemist Edward Kelley’s claim to be a descendant of the Uí Máine, weaving an esoteric connection between occultism and the forgotten landscapes of rural Ireland. 'Bog Summoner' imagines Kelley’s spectral presence lingering in the bogs, appearing to seekers and outcasts, summoning spirits among ancient burial mounds.

Adding another layer of inspiration, the album draws from Ithell Colquhoun’s evocative writings on Ireland, particularly 'The Crying of the Wind', reinforcing Heery’s exploration of landscape as a portal to the arcane.

Neil Mason of Moonbuilding magazine describes 'Bog Summoner' as “a kosmische transmission from a distant realm, fed through a Berlin School conduit. Heery teases suspense with hypnotic, slow-burning tension, maintaining a delicate yet relentless momentum for the entire 45-minute duration.”

Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and Sony EMI Music Italy, presents the premiere vinyl edition of the iconic Piero Piccioni score for Playgirl ’70, a dramatic-erotic vehicle directed by Federico Chentrens, starring Ira Von Fürstenberg, Luciana Paluzzi and Jean Sobieski. The film is about Jane, a young and fascinating model who participates in a cruise with some representatives of a rich and corrupt world connected to the cinema business. Jane’s beauty brings her only bitterness and disappointment. The wonderful kaleidoscope of lounge oddness favors the composer’s jazz roots, shakes and intimate organ work, but also features delightful bursts of source music as well as the romantic side of maestro Piccioni. Released on CD twice (but only in Japan), this forgotten Piero Piccioni masterpiece was never issued on LP, making it one of the most fan-requested titles in this format. This limited LP edition, pressed on audiophile 140 GM white vinyl, has been specially restored and mastered by Chris Malone from the stereo master tapes. The luxurious artwork features the artistry of Luca Barcellona.

Quartet Records present the vinyl edition of its brand-new recording of John Barry’s complete score for Séance ON A WET Afternoon (1964), a major work previously missing from the composer’s discography. It was one of his masterpieces for Bryan Forbes that, unfortunately, remained unreleased due to the absence of master tapes. Composed for a small ensemble featuring vibrant percussion and woodwinds, it’s a mysterious, suggestive, unsettling score, reaching its culmination in the long rescue sequence. It showcases John Barry’s great ability to work with small, almost chamber-like ensembles, seeking the specific sound of each story without being an intrusive voice. Leigh Phillips has painstakingly reconstructed and orchestrated the score, which was performed by the prestigious Orquesta de Córdoba conducted by Fernando Velázquez. Recorded and mixed by Marc Blanes, the audio has been meticulously mastered by Chris Malone and the spirit of Barry’s original recording. With elegant design by Nacho B. Govantes and cover art designed by Jim Titus presented in a hard tip-on sleeve, it includes liner notes by Jon Burlingame. The discs are pressed in 140 GM black vinyl and it’s limited to 500 units only.

In 1976, “¿Quién puede matar a un niño?” was released, a key piece of Hispanic horror cinema. A masterful Chicho Ibañez Serrador, signed a claustrophobic and terrifying masterpiece on the Alicante island of Tabarca, for which he received countless international awards. The soundtrack was signed by Waldo de Los Ríos, the Argentine based in Madrid, a key player along with Rafael Trabucheli of the well-known “Sonido Torrelaguna” from the legendary studios of the company “Hispavox”, creating an absolutely dazzling soundtrack at the height of the film. Qualified as the great “Anthology of symphonic terror”, was recorded by about 70 musicians, locked up for days in a studio, as a creative strategy of De los Ríos, and where some of They expressed overwhelming situations during the recording. A real delight sound, remastered with precision for the occasion, which is reflected for the first time, in a beautiful “blood” red vinyl, which promises to quickly become a precious piece of musical collecting.

Generally with “La Ciociara” (internationally known as “Two Women”) one refers to Vittorio De Sica’s 1960 masterpiece; few people know that, at the end of the 80s, a remake was made in the form of a 2-episode television miniseries which, in addition to the story obviously, has two other elements in common with the original film: the presence of Sophia Loren as the leading actress and Armando Trovajoli as the author of the soundtrack (the original recording sessions seem to have been lost forever). Although it was composed in the 80s, this version of the score is not affected at all by the trending sounds of the time, and is in fact entirely based - with the exception of the short “Clock Curiosity” divertissement - on various orchestral and symphonic pieces, perfect for the historical period - during the World War II - in which the story of “La Ciociara” is set. The presence of Sophia Loren herself on vocals in three compositions, two sung in English - “A Word of Love” and “Somewhere a Dream” - and one in Neapolitan dialect - the final track “Ma Dio Addo’ Sta” - makes this work even more special and unique.
