1978 was a banner year for Dexter Gordon. Maxine Gordon (then Gregg) had started to manage his career, he signed with Columbia and moved to New York, forming and grooming his own band all at age 52! The wonderful quartet included George Cables on piano, Rufus Reid on bass, and Eddie Gladden on drums. This November 1978 concert at the Chateauvallon Jazz Festival highlights Dexter's joyous and fiery mood, peppering his solos with outrageous quotes from other songs. Pressed on 180-gram vinyl. First time on vinyl. Limited Color Vinyl. A 'best of' collection of their series of eccentric post-punk singles and albums between 1979 and 1982. Described as ‘entertaining idiosyncratic experimentalism’ (‘Who’s Who of Indie and New Wave’), but they also have very evident pop sensibilities. Best known for their indie-chart hits such as ‘Debbie Harry’, ‘Playing Golf With My Flesh Crawling’ and ‘Savoir Faire’, today they sound like a forerunner of Stereolab. A group of musicians based around songwriter Alig Fodder, with vocals regularly contributed by French chanteuse Dominique Levillain, who met through mutual friends This Heat. This is an edited vinyl version of their 1998 'best of' CD, issued on Douglas Wolk's Dark Beloved Cloud label in the USA, with newly concise versions of some lengthier tracks. Since then they've regenerated and have issued new albums on various labels and also on Bandcamp, and had their songs covered by a number of their many artist admirers.

Hugo Montenegro was a prolific composer and orchestra leader, best known for crafting dynamic film and television soundtracks throughout the 1960s and 1970s. In addition to original compositions, the New York native also recorded many unique interpretations of contemporary work by other artists. In 1974, Montenegro released Hugo In Wonder-Land, his take on the catalog of music icon Stevie Wonder. The album is entirely instrumental, offering a brand new perspective on Wonder’s acclaimed originals. Montenegro’s lush arrangements and Moog-heavy electronic elements make for a genre-bending classic that Stevie Wonder himself has championed. After years out of print, Hugo In Wonder-Land is now back on limited-edition vinyl.

Kelley Stoltz's track for track covers album of Echo and the Bunnymen's 'Crocodiles' will be available for the first time on vinyl this Record Store Day courtesey of Nine x Nixe Records. Originally recorded in late 2001, the album was not released until 2006 and was only available on CD (Orignally a TOUR ONLY CD via Beautiful Happiness).Stoltz took up the mantle of rhythm guitar in the Bunnymen's live set up in 2016, after a few high profile state-side support slots won largely because of this album. Pressed on 180g Color Vinyl, with original artwork and new sleeve notes from Bunnymen guitarist Will Sergeant and Scott Kannberg (Pavement), there's never been a better time to discover this gem from Stoltz's back catalogue. REMASTERED BY MIKEY YOUNG -Bonus 7" E.P.features 3 early demos of 14 year old Kelley's band .These are the earliest known recordings of Stoltz's Bunnymen covers.

Remastered by Bob Ludwig (Gateway Mastering) and Lacquer cutting by Sean Magee (Abbey Road Studios) Released exclusively on 180g Hunter Green vinyl Includes exclusive iron-on t-shirt transfer of the sleeve design, which alludes to Franz Kafka’s ‘The Metamorphosis’ (the story of a man who wakes up one morning to find himself inexplicably transformed into a huge insect!). This release replicates the U.K. version, with two extra songs, “Some Things Just Stick In Your Mind” and “We’re Wastin’ Time” that were not on the original U.S. release.

Mike Myers’ ultra-mod ’60s spy spoof Austin Powers: International Man of Mystery skillfully wrings humor from the differences and the similarities between the ’60s and ’90s, so it isn’t surprising that the soundtrack balances ’60s pop hits with ’90s songs that wryly rework those swinging styles.
