Over the course of 14 tracks, the duo sonically stick to their traditional "boom-bap" roots, whilst also bringing sounds that range from "darker" to "aggressive", to even more "melancholic". The production B.B.Z. Darney showcases is heavier, more conceptual than previous releases. uMaNg has been notable throughout his career for being a clever & witty, punchline heavy emcee. While staying true to his stylings on the mic, he gets deeper & more transparent than past albums have suggested. For every braggadocious track, there is another where the Jersey emcee bares his soul through the pen, opening up about past discretions, family HIStory, amongst other topics on the emcee's mind. Also unlike "Lasting Impressions" & "The Revisited", that found the duo being the lone contributors to their works alongside the legendary DJ Grazzhoppa, they now bring along with them close collaborators as well as in-label artists. The Endless River has as its starting point the music that came from the 1993 Division Bell sessions, when David Gilmour, Rick Wright and Nick Mason played freely together at Britannia Row and Astoria studios. This was the first time they had done so since the 'Wish You Were Here' sessions in the seventies. Those sessions resulted in The Division Bell, the band's last studio album.

In 2013 David Gilmour and Nick Mason revisited the music from those sessions and decided that the tracks should be made available as part of the Pink Floyd repertoire. It would be the last time the three of them would be heard together. The band have spent the last year recording and upgrading the music,using the advantages of modern studio technology to create The Endless River.

The Endless River is a tribute to Rick Wright, whose keyboards are at the heart of the Pink Floyd sound. It is a mainly instrumental album with one song, 'Louder Than Words', (with new lyrics by Polly Samson), arranged across four sides and produced by David Gilmour, Phil Manzanera, Youth and Andy Jackson.

Maclean’s eclectic tastes have long been looking for a suitable outlet and today sees a long-awaited dream finally come to fruition, as Maclean announces the launch of his record label Kick + Clap. Kick + Clap’s debut release comes courtesy of fellow Scot producer Neil Landstrumm, with an EP entitled “Knights of Shame". Well known for his early Peacefrog Records’ classics such as “Brown by August", Landstrumm has been navigating unchartered musical territories since the 1990’s. Circling mostly around experimental techno, Landstrumm is also know for exploring grime and dubstep, long before it was the done thing and has released nine albums across legendary labels such as Peacefrog, Tresor, Mosquito, Planet Mu, Sonic Groove and his own imprint, Scandinavia.

Among a thousand projects, Para One is back on the dance floor with “Club", a new album which was not meant to be one, but believe it or not: it’s serious stuff! “The ‘Passion’ album is the background for this, as I decided to reshape it for my live act, explains Para One. I’ve rebuilt the tracks entirely, making live versions for festivals and bigger clubs. Then I found myself with a totally different album. It’s not a live album. The tracks have been modified and reinterpreted. It’s my tribute to Soulwax’s “Night Versions". Subtlety was not really an option, it had to hit kind of hard. The tracks had to sound real in a club situation and people are now meant to dance to them! It’s also a ‘treasure hunt’ kind of record with many references. It sounds like my DJ sets, when I mix many things and styles, old and new, because that’s how a club should sound. It’s a place where memories belong.” The pop, melancholic and highly danceable “Passion", was meant to be listened to at home or on quiet dance floors, but “Club” only retains the melodies and vocal hooks. It smells like sweat, joy and abandoned bodies. Packed with English acid house piano, huge beats, elegiac vocals, references to UK Garage, EDM filtered french touch and house, “Club” dives into the heart of dance music. It’s a 3.0 rave emblem, a daring record to make people dance without selling out.

The sixth album from legendary hip-hop group Souls of Mischief, There Is Only Now, is a unique cinematic 90s crime
tale of love, loss, and revenge. A conceptual collaboration with producer Adrian Younge and the first release on his freshly launched Linear Labs Records label, There Is Only Now gets its inspiration from a near fatal incident involving group members A-Plus, Opio, Tajai, and Phesto early in their careers. Set in 1994, There Is Only Now serves as a bookend to two decades of music since the release of their seminal debut album, ‘93 Til Infinity.

There Is Only Now sees the Souls of Mischief crew members trading bars with a cast of hip-hop and soul luminaries.
Narrated by A Tribe Called Quest member Ali Shaheed Muhammed—as DJ for fictional local Oakland radio station K-NOW—the album’s story unfolds under his all-seeing eye. Busta Rhymes makes an appearance as the story’s villain, Womack, on “Womack’s Lament,” while William Hart of the legendary vocal soul group, The Delfonics, lends his buttery falsetto to the contemplative “Another Side of You.” Snoop Dogg drops knowledge on the situation between Stoney and Womack with an ice cold verse on the title track “There Is Only Now,” and Scarub from Living Legends goes in on “Stone Cold.”

Souls of Mischief and Adrian Younge have created a hip-hop album like no other. The result of a special moment for all

The samples and melodies tell the story of a man coming to terms with his declining health, a final love letter to the family and friends he was leaving behind. As a prolific producer with a voracious appetite for the history and mechanics of the music he loved, J Dilla knew the records that went into constructing Donuts inside and out. He could have taken them all and made a much different, more accessible album. If the widely accepted view is that his final work is a record about dying, the question becomes why did he make this record about dying?

Drawing from philosophy, critical theory and musicology, as well as Dilla’s own musical catalogue, Jordan Ferguson shows that the contradictory, irascible and confrontational music found on Donuts is as much a result of an artist’s declining health as it is an example of what scholars call “late style,” placing the album in a musical tradition that stretches back centuries.
