Compiled and completed by Corea before his death in February of 2021, this incredible and previously unreleased album of live recordings with the reunited original Elekteric Band, was captured during tour stops in 2016, 2017, and 2018. Produced by Corea with original Elektric Band recording engineer Bernie Kirsch, and mastered by Bernie Grundman, the 3 disc vinyl LP and 2 disc CD features in depth liner notes from Corea, and all of the Elektric Band members. It is a fitting closing chapter, a must have for any fan of this dynamic and game changing group.

Queen Talk: Live at the Left Bank is an official, never-before-released concert recording from one of the greatest female jazz organists of all-time, Shirley Scott, featuring a powerhouse trio with George Coleman on tenor saxophone and Bobby Durham on drums, plus special guest vocalist Ernie Andrews on three tracks. This hand-numbered, limited edition (3000 worldwide), double LP set was transferred from the original tape reels and is pressed on 180g vinyl. It features 100 minutes of music and is packaged in a gatefold sleeve with an extensive booklet with liner notes by acclaimed music writer A. Scott Galloway, rare photos by Don Schlitten and Raymond Ross, and memorabilia from the Left Bank archives plus interviews with jazz organ icon Joey DeFrancesco, former Shirley Scott bandmate, saxophonist Tim Warfield, and pianist Monty reminiscing about drummer Bobby Durham. The set is co-produced by label owner/musician Cory Weeds and renowned archival recording producer Zev Feldman.

The show was recorded at the Famous Ballroom in Baltimore Maryland on August 20, 1972 and hasn't ever been previously available. Philadelphia-born Scott rose to fame in the late 1950s playing the Hammond B-3 organ influenced by blues and gospel evolving into '60s soul jazz. She recorded numerous albums for Prestige, Impulse!, Atlantic, Cadet and Candid performing with countless jazz legends including Stanley Turrentine, Oliver Nelson, Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Clark Terry and Kenny Burrell.

The 10-track set cooks on songs of the day like "By the Time I Get to Phoenix," "You Don't Mess Around With Jim," and "Never Can Say Goodbye," along with standards such as "Smile," "Witchcraft" and John Coltrane's "Impressions."

Mass Hysterism in Another Situation captures Masayuki Takayanagi's New Direction Unit in its final incarnation, at an apex in its development; it also finds Takayanagi, one of Japan's great iconoclastic artists, at a moment of crucial artistic transformation. Recorded in August 1983 as part of his "Another Situation" concert series, the album features one of the last performances of Takayanagi's revolutionary and perhaps most famously violent piece, "Mass Projection." By this date, New Direction's line up had been distilled to a compact, searingly hot trio of Takayanagi joined on electric guitar by Akira Iijima and Hiroshi Yamazaki on drums/percussion. Over the course of 40 minutes, the group sustains an uninterrupted, highly charged attack propelled with unrelenting energy. The music is rife with noise and dissonance intruding from both sides; a vortex of sound and fury that begins to slip from even the expansive bounds of free jazz into something almost purely electronic. The trio would perform only four more times, completing the "Another Situation" series with its 24th edition in November 1984. Eleven months later Takayanagi would debut an entirely new modality, one he called "Action Direct." It completely transformed his approach to guitar and sound in general by embracing an entirely abstract, solo noise music projected through massive, complex sound systems of his own design. Mass Hysterism is perhaps the most powerful link in this part of Takayanagi's history—a perfect realization and farewell to one of his greatest forms en route to territories even further afield and radical. At Now-Again, we avoid hyperbole, yet we believe that this album is one of record collecting’s ultimate finds: the missing entry in jazz pianist/composer/psychiatrist Denny Zeitlin’s discography, a wonderful and weird fusion of avant-classical, jazz, funk, rock and electronic music. The Name Of This Terrain was recorded and pressed in a scant, custom run as a demo in 1969 –and it so defied its own existence that, even after its producer died and his copies were discovered, Zeitlin steadfastly resisted its release for almost 20 years, destroying his remaining demos so not to posthumously suffer the same ignominy. Following his reappraisal, this album is issued with its creator’s blessing and guidance. You will surely never hear an album like this again, by the musician the venerable jazz critic Leonard Feather called, “the most versatile young pianist to come to prominence in the early sixties,” and who took a left turn at the end of the decade, documenting a pivotal 20th century moment with passion, intellect, and humor in turn. The Name Of This Terrain found its way out of the depths – wonderful and having aged well, like well-corked, deep wine stored in a cold cellar. This release of Lightnin' Hopkins "Soul Blues" completes the series of 25 Prestige label stereo reissues from Analogue Productions. Of the 50 titles (25 stereo, 25 mono) in this reissue series, 49 of them were mastered by Kevin Gray at Cohearent Audio from the original analog tape. For "Soul Blues" Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound created a 24/192K hi-res file from a needle drop on a clean original LP.
This was done because the tape supplied for mastering proved to be from a needle drop itself, not the original, which has been lost since the early 1970s. Smith took the original LP, did a new needle drop and meticulously worked to eliminate the minimal tics and pops that remained. Then he mastered the album for LP and SACD from the hi-res file.

Benny Golson, who came to the attention of the jazz public with Tadd Dameron's band and Dizzy Gillespie's orchestra, was a member of the Jazztet — the group he had formed with Art Farmer — at the time of this recording. Farmer is not with him in this recording but another Jazztet-mate, trombonist Curtis Fuller, is. Although this session is not as structured as the three-horn efforts of the Jazztet, there is a balance between blowing and Golson's writing that makes for a felicitous blend, whether on Golson's own "My Blues House", Gene Krupa's old burner, "Drum/Boogie", or Jerome Kern's "Yesterdays". And with Art Blakey on drums things cook when they have to, and simmer at the right moments. With Curtis Fuller, Ray Bryant, Paul Chambers and Art Blakey.

This 200-gram Analogue Productions LP reissue is a magnificent-sounding recording of a historic TV event. For a rare and glorious one-hour nationwide broadcast, CBS brought together 32 leading musicians — a Who's Who of the swing era — including Count Basie, Lester Young, Ben Webster, Billie Holiday, Jo Jones and Coleman Hawkins; the Chicago style players of the same era, like Henry 'Red' Allen, Vic Dickenson, and Pee Wee Russell; and younger 'modernist' musicians such as Gerry Mulligan, Thelonious Monk, and Jimmy Giuffre. These players played separately with their compatriots, but also joined to combine various styles in one group, such as Red Allen's group and the group backing Billie Holiday on "Fine and Mellow".
The one-hour program aired on Sunday, December 8, 1957, live from CBS Studio 58, the Town Theater at 851 Ninth Avenue in New York City.
Columbia Records released this LP in 1958 that is actually a rehearsal that preceded the telecast (recorded on December 4 at Columbia's 30th Street studios), and is not its soundtrack. The recording doesn't include all of the performers on the TV show (Mulligan refused to participate because no additional payment was involved) and includes several who were not on the show.
For this Analogue Productions reissue we started with the original tape and the best mastering available — Ryan K. Smith at Sterling Sound did a steller job, and naturally, plating at Quality Record Pressings was handled by master plating technician Gary Salstrom. Our 200-gram QRP platters serve up an utterly noiseless background that lets the superior sonics shine through.

Mississippi's Son House was already legendary for a small collection of live field recordings made by folklorist Alan Lomax in 1941 and 1942, and for having taught some important licks to both Robert Johnson and Muddy Waters before he was rediscovered by a new generation of college-age fans in 1964.
The 'Father of the Delta Blues' recorded this namesake LP for Columbia Records a year later in 1965. It's become, in the words of Living Blues magazine — »Essential recordings by one of the greatest bluesmen ever.« And now, Analogue Productions presents a reissue unmatched in sonic quality and luxury presentation. For our version we turned to Ryan Smith at Sterling Sound to remaster the recording from the original master tapes. The freshly cut lacquers were then plated and pressed on 200-gram vinyl by our own Quality Record Pressings.
Son was born Eddie James House, Jr., on March 21, 1902, in Riverton, Miss. By the age of 15, he was preaching the gospel in various Baptist churches as the family seemingly wandered from one plantation to the next. He didn't even bother picking up a guitar until he turned 25; to quote House, »I didn't like no guitar when I first heard it; oh gee, I couldn't stand a guy playin' a guitar. I didn't like none of it.« But if his ambivalence to the instrument was obvious, even more obvious was the simple fact that Son hated plantation labor even more and had developed a taste for corn whiskey. After drunkenly launching into a blues at a house frolic in Lyon, Miss., one night and picking up some coin for doing it, the die seemed to be cast; Son House may have been a preacher, but he was part of the blues world now.

Mariya Takeuchi is set to release her long-awaited original album after 10 years! This marks the 12th original album by singer-songwriter Mariya Takeuchi, following her 2014 release 'trad'. "Na Rua, na Chuva, na Fazenda" is a classic of Brazilian music, released by Hyldon in 1975, one of the 20 best sellers of that year, it marks the debut of the singer and composer from Bahia, it is a seminal work of Brazilian soul, reflecting the musical effervescence of the 1970s and the influence of the black power movement in the country alongside Tim Maia and Cassiano. Born in Salvador and passionate about music from an early age, the singer developed his music in the 60s alongside dance bands in Rio de Janeiro and even recorded with some of them. Hyldon was influenced by the mix of rhythms that permeated the city, from MPB to soul and funk. He worked as a support guitarist for artists such as Wilson Simonal, Os Diagonais (Banda de Cassiano) and Tim Maia. He composed and produced several artists with Odair Joé and Erasmo Carlos. The title of the album, "Na Rua, na Chuva, na Fazenda", is also the title of its most iconic track, but the album has other successes such as: "As Dores do Mundo", "Vamos Passear De Bicicleta", "Meu Patuá", among others. The album is an ode to simple and pure love. This song became a romantic anthem, and its soft melody combined with Hyldon's sweet and soulful voice captivated the audience.

Formed by Jesse Sharps, an alumnus (and former bandleader) of Horace Tapscott’s Pan Afrikan People’s Arkestra (papa), The Gathering: Roots and Branches of Los Angeles Jazz is a project spanning generations, but firmly planted in the jazz scene of Los Angeles. The group, formed in 2005, has a rotating cast of musicians, ranging from up and coming (at the time…) stars of the jazz scene such as Kamasi Washington, all the way to Tribe co-founder Phil Ranelin.

Recorded live in 2015 at Los Angeles’ Mamye Clayton Library and Museum, Healing Suite was recorded to commemorate the 10th anniversary of The Gathering’s formation, and features many of the original members. The album opens with a stirring rendition of the Nina Simone classic “Strange Fruit”, performed as a duet by Dwight Trible (vo.) and Theo Saunders (pf.). Trible’s voice is haunting, his voice goes from somber melody to tortured cries, perfectly expressing the pain and weight behind the lyrics. Saunder’s piano comping seems to undulate under Drible’s vocals, with angular chords and percussive playing peeking out from underneath Trible’s singing.

The heart of the album is undoubtedly Freedom’s Sweet, a three-part suite composed by Horace Tapscott. With Jesse Sharps conducting, the song moves forward at a steady shuffle, going from disarming poetry by Kamau Daáod (part 1), to triumphant horn lines and fiery solos (part 2), all the way to avant-garde big band swing (part 3). A particular high point is Tribe co-founder Phil Ranelin’s (tbn.) solo in part 2, which is as energetic and fiery as any of his solos on earlier Tribe records, despite being almost 80 at the time of recording. Over half an hour long, Freedom’s Sweet is a master class in long-form composition, with each member of The Gathering getting space to shine, while also highlighting how the group can meld together to form a band quite unlike anything else. Recorded in 2015 and originally released in 2022, P-vine is proud to be giving Healing Suite a well deserved analog release with an obi-strip. As much as the album highlights Los Angeles’ progressive jazz scene, this album crosses all boundaries, whether they be age, location, or even genre.
