Limited Edition for Record Store Day 2018! ‘Pat Thomas Introduces Marijata’ is a seminal Ghanian album that fuses highlife, reggae, folk, funk and soul, from legendary vocalist Pat Thomas. Originally released in 1976 on Gapophone Records.
‘Marijata’ was a group made up of three members – Kofi ‘Electric’ Addison on drums, Bob Fischlan on organ and Nat Osmanu on guitar, hailing from Ghana. Pat Thomas career began in 1969 with the ‘Broadway Dance Band’, leaving a year later to join the ‘Uhuru Dance Band’. He then played with Ebo Taylor’s ‘Blue Monks’ and finally formed the ‘Sweet Beans’ in 1973 where he really made his name. The group released ‘False Lover’ in 1974, split and then reformed as Marijata, releasing ‘Marijata’ (also available on Mr Bongo) and this album, ‘Pat Thomas Introduces Marijata’. Manzo’s Lonely Horizon was produced in his Italian studio and mastered by the legendary Dave Cooley of Elysian Masters in Los Angeles. With brilliant features from long respected Brooklyn MC J-Live and Mo’Funk Records resident boogie queen Moniquea, This 8 track vinyl is a must have for groove hounds, dance floor junkies and perpetual chillers alike.

In mid march of 2018 Manzo will be touring with UK soul staple Omar in promotion of Lonely Horizon’s record store day release. Two additional Italian vocal edits are included on the cassette recording and both cassette and vinyl are complete with exciting artwork which fits the sounds so closely that the lines between your visual and audio experience may feel blurred. Don't stress though, you’re just drunk on the funk.

Oliver Coates' new arrangement of Pulitzer Prize-winning US composer John
Luther Adams' 2007 piece Canticles of the Sky appears for the first time in
recorded form as a limited vinyl edition from RVNG Intl. In March 2017,
Coates conducted 32 cellists in the UK premiere of the composition,
displaying its intimacies after deeply communing with the trajectories of
Adams' fictional suns and moons, the guiding characters and carriers of the
piece. This recorded interpretation, performed by Coates for multi-layered
solo cello, takes Canticles of the Sky to wondrous, dizzying new heights,
envisaging Adams' parallel dimension as an idealised construction. Marrying
extra-musical studio techniques and meticulous arrangements to Coates'
fascination with early electronic synthesis (especially the work of Laurie
Spiegel), the result offers an ultra-sensory take on classical string
instrumentation. "Making this recording was not only about creating the most
finely tuned interpretation of the piece in terms of frequencies and dynamics,
but was also a chance to do something I have always wanted to do; to make
a study in colour," Coates says. "Inspired by paintings by Hilma af Klint and
Agnes Martin, I had a chance to build an overall image using different playing
techniques and microphone combinations." Coates has released a handful of
solo records under his own name, including the acclaimed 2016 album
Upstepping, and in 2017 Remain Calm, a collaboration with Mica Levi. As an
artist and performer, he is frequently commissioned by world-renowned
orchestras, choreographers and visual artists to compose or curate integral
new works.

White Vinyl - 1970's Cult BBC TV Original Soundtrack - First Ever Release -
Written by Paddy Kingsland and the BBC Radiophonic Workshop The
critically acclaimed BBC TV series, The Changes, was first broadcast by the
BBC in in 1975, accompanied by music from electronic pioneer Paddy
Kingsland, who wrote and recorded the score while working at the BBC
Radiophonic Workshop. The 10 part series, adapted from Peter Dickinson's
book trilogy, was perfectly suited to Kingsland's seminal electronic style,
following a teenager living in a Britain where machinery and technology emit
a terrible, all-enveloping noise, causing the population to destroy them.
Kingsland used an early synthesiser, the EMS Synthi 100 (which was
apparently so large, they had to remove the doors of the studio to get it
through), overlaid with live instruments including sitar, percussion, tabla, flute
and horns to create a soundtrack which is indicative of exactly how the BBC
Radiophonic Workshop's early output influenced and informed the popular
electronic music of the Eighties and beyond. Kingsland went on to write the
music for (amongst others) The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (Radio and
TV series), Doctor Who and Around the World in 80 Days, as well as
composing for the KPM music library, who issued eight albums of his work.
An LP of his Radiophonic Workshop output, "The Fourth Dimension" , was
released by BBC Records in 1973.
