Asgard Trivialities

Asgard were a 3-piece, proto-progressive rock band from Coventry, UK. They were initially influenced by early Pink Floyd and The Velvet Underground, before becoming more experimental in their own right. They soon caught the attention of legendary DJ and general tastemaker; John Peel, who had planned to sign them to his Dandelion Records, before financial problems signalled the demise of said label. In early 1970, they recorded these three tracks on a one-sided 12” acetate. They are the only recordings by the band still known to still exist. The sole surviving acetate in question, had been sitting in the bass player’s garage since the 70s and was not in the best of shape; sections of the lacquer had actually flaked off and had to be meticulously glued back on.
