Backstreet Girls are 40!This Fall it’s 40 years since legendary Norwegian rockers Backstreet Girls played their first gig! Part of the Birthday celebration is this 4LP vinyl box set, titled 40 Years 40 Billion Beers. The three first records contain the best known tracks from all their 16 studio albums, plus some gems and rarities. The final record focuses on live recordings, made in the period 1988-2022. The box set will be printed in 1000 copies, on "beer coloured" vinyl. New solo album by Backstreet Girls songwriter and guitarist Petter Baarli. You Petter Be Better is his third solo record, consisting of ten rockers which highlight Petter Baarli’s abilities as a songwriter and guitarist. The Loch Ness Mouse celebrate 30 years as a band and release a new album to coincide with the anniversary. Album III completes the trilogy that began with the self-titled record from 2016 and was followed up by II in 2019 (both also released on the well-respected Japanese label P-Vine). Where the first was the tight and elaborate pop record, the next one more moody and atmospheric, the new record is possibly a bit more extreme, free-spirited and cheerful. Together, the trilogy nevertheless gives a coherent picture of what has been the band's project for the past ten years: melodic and sophisticated pop from a working-class perspective, with strong elements of soul and jazz, based on the songwriting of the brothers Jørn and Ole Johannes Åleskjær. The new album features, among others, ex-member Hilma Nikolaisen and jazz/contemporary names such as Morten Barrikmo (Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, Oslo Sinfonietta) and Lars Tormod Jenset (Espen Eriksen Trio).

Anne Marie Almedal was the singer in the band Velvet Belly, one of Norway's most popular bands in in 1990's. Since then she has pursued an even more successful solo career, with highlights like the theme song from the TV series Himmelblå/Blue Sky Blue, her versions of Paint it Black and Love Song, and songs like Sheltering Sky and You Keep Me At Arm's Length from her previous album "Lightshadow" (with more than 1 million Spotify streams combined). The new album We Dance Alone will be released in May 2022. The new album is mixed by renowned British mixer/producer Tim Bran (London Grammar, Birdy, Halsey, La Roux, The Verve, Walking on Cars, Bloc Party).
