Downslow – At A New Way
Usually Downslow is known for dark, but somehow driven sounds. He was supposed to make a remix of Atwashere’s “It’s A New Jay” … but what started as a simple idea to flip the original, soon became a forward version of it’s own! A filtered drumloop, hard snapping claps, moving synthlines. Downslow doesn’t need much to create a groove - even if he’s usually known for more darker, “Heavy Dub Tools” sounds. It’s a Nice One!

After periodically releasing tracks and contributing deep remixes for other artists, "Planet Down" marks Downslow’s first full album, produced in collaboration with Tobias Langela.

With each release, Downslow’s sound has evolved from its dubby roots to an increasingly vibrant electronica, always embracing influences from reggae, hip-hop, and breaks. The nine tracks of "Planet Down" reflect half a century of club music evolution without falling into retro or nostalgic clichés. Expect fat sub-basses, slick synths, and soaring echoes—perfect for a head cinema experience.

As a musician with a graphic vision, Downslow has woven his tracks into a dystopian narrative, leaving ample room for imagination. We don’t know about you, but we’ll never look at mirror balls the same way again! Share your thoughts with us as you listen to his tracks and explore the cover artwork.

About Downslow Downslow is the solo project of Jakob Maser, who began releasing music in the '90s. He has been deeply immersed in club culture for many years as both a DJ and Designer. Since 2016, he has released a diverse array of EPs and remixes that showcase his evolving sound and artistic vision.
