Crow’s third and final release, Mosaic, was originally released in 1971. Largely unrecognized at the time, Mosaic contained one minor hit- “(Don’t Try To Lay No Boogie Woogie On The) King Of Rock And Roll,” which easily beats the subsequent version by Long John Baldry. Mosaic also features a catchy original song that should’ve been a hit- “Keeps Me Running.”

Like their prior albums, Crow’s powerful organ-laden blues rock carries early ‘70s rock to new heights! Blending a new mixture of country and blues, with heavy steel pedal on “Watching Can Waste Up The Time,” Mosaic was Crow’s last effort to make it big before vocalist’s David Wagner departed the group. Taking funky rhythms, lots of wah-wah guitar, and hard-edged vocals makes this album a must-hear!

Despite their lack of commercial success in the late ‘60s and early ‘70s, Crow proves themselves to be skilled songwriters and musicians. Their unique combination of blues and garage rock is sure to satisfy!

Surging brass and organ-laden funk wonderment!

Formed in 1967, Crow combines gritty blues with nasty, hard-charging garage rock. Inspired by the likes of The Ventures and The Trashmen, Minnesota natives Harry Nehls, Dick Wiegand, and Larry Wiegand combined forces with ex-Jokers Wild members David Wagner and Dave “Kink” Middlemist. Originally known as South 40, the band released two singles and one album, Live at Someplace Else, on Metrobeat Records.

After winning a recording session with Columbia from a battle of the bands contest in Des Moines, Iowa, the band recorded five demos: Evil Woman, Time to Make a Turn, Busy Day, and White Eyes. Columbia didn’t offer the band a contract, but Dunwich signed the band.

To give their sound a more commercial appeal, Dunwich added horns to Evil Woman without the band’s knowledge- and it worked! Crow signed with Capitol subsidiary Amaret Records after turning down Atlantic, hoping to be a big fish in a small pond. Recording their first electrifying album, Crow Music, in 1969, Crow delivered their very best. Before it was covered by Black Sabbath and Ike & Tina Turner, their acclaimed single, Evil Woman (Don’t Play Your Games With Me), hit the Top 20 that Fall. Reminiscent of Blood, Sweat & Tears, Deep Purple, and James Gang, Crow blends an alluring mix of soul, funk, blues, psychedelia, and garage rock into one package. I’m sure you’ll agree Crow Music is a holy grail of heart-poundin’, grease grindin’ rock!

Following up their initial 1969 release Crow Music, Crow turns up the heat with Crow By Crow! Recalling bands like Eden’s Children and Crabby Appleton, Crow By Crow was released in May of 1970. Though the album only charted at #181, it spawned two minor hits- the Larry Williams cover “Slow Down,” and an original, “Cottage Cheese.” Performed live, Cottage Cheese was a crowd favorite. It’s raunchy blues boogie and skin-beating drum break, compliments of ex-Castaways drummer Denny Craswell, was sure to get fans movin’ and shakin'!

Despite their success on the airwaves, Crow had declining commercial sales. Their records were rarely kept in stock, if they were in a record store at all, which dampened their sensational live shows. If their record couldn’t be found, no matter how great it was, Crow would be forgotten.

Thankfully, Crow By Crow can be found in the bins once again! It’s dynamic, gutsy blues rock will be sure to have you on the dance floor in no time!

Eight new destructive Tracks from Tokyo’s Crow, featuring five classic blasts of crushing metallic hardcore with harsh vocals and searing guitar solos, framed by bursts of noise-driven experimentation and end capped by a “Hi-tone” vocal version of the title track. Eye is Crow's first new recording in twelve years. Crow’s origins are in the legendary mid-1980s golden era of Japanese punk, formed in Osaka with an intense influence of guitar driven UK hardcore. They released two seminal Japanese punk records, Who Killed Dove? EP and Last Chaos LP, before going dormant at the end of the 80s. Lead Vocalist Crow reorganized the band in the mid 1990s in Tokyo with new members including guitarist Tomio from Juntess. Tomio's playing added a heavier weight to the band’s sound as their sound became a synthesis of their original Discharge-influenced attack and metallic crust hardcore. The band released several EPs, the classic Bloody Tear album, and toured the West Coast three times. Eye touches on aspects of the band's often experimental 7" EP releases, but is grounded by their classic brutal hardcore sound. Recorded at Noise Room Studios in Tokyo in 2022, mastered for vinyl by Dietrich Schoenemann at Complete mastering, It Comes with an 11” x 17” insert in a 24 Pt. Board jacket designed by lead vocalist, Crow and was pressed at RTI.
