Ltd. edition of 800 on GREEN VINYL.Brian Olive's name first came into the public eye as a founding guitarist/singer of the Greenhornes, and later as a member of the Soledad Brothers, for whom he provided saxophone and sundries under the pseudonym of Oliver Henry. However, unlike those prior genre-specific endeavors, this album, his self-titled debut, is a breakout multicolored affair that takes musical and lyrical cues from the British psychedelic sixties, as well as the soul-pop hit factories of Memphis, and wanders through the erstwhile streets of the Ninth Ward.The sessions took place in Cincinnati, in what was once the basement vault of a pawn shop, and were produced, recorded and mixed on analog tape by Brian himself. Beside playing guitar, woodwind and piano, Brian Olive is accompanied on the album by friends Jared McKinney and Craig Fox of the Greenhornes, Mike Weinel, formerly of the Heartless Bastards, and Dan Allaire who did time with the Brian Jonestown Massacre. Brian also sings lead and is backed by the Kadish Sisters with Donna Jay, a vocal trio brought together in the studio for the occasion. A touring band will be assembled with various members of the sessions.

Henry's Funeral Shoe was formed in 2008 in South Wales, inspired and influenced by many of the albums that singer/guitarist Aled Clifford had looted from his father's vinyl collection when he was growing up. The Who, CCR, Peter Green, Robert Johnson and the Beatles were favorites, and Aled quickly became a gifted guitar player, aided and taught by Ned Edwards, a long time collaborator of Van Morrison. Aled soon played with various bands, eventually doing some recording sessions for producer Ian Grimble, and even recording at the legendary Abbey Road studios. His younger brother Brennig started playing drums at nine. At fifteen he joined a local band, learning his trade by performing covers of The Clash and Thin Lizzy before moving on to writing original material. The dexterous brothers have finally joined forces to create some of the loudest soulful rock'n'roll to come out of the UK in a long time. Their debut "Everything's For Sale" is a fun and raucous mix of heavy rock and psychedelic blues which reminds us that the UK can produce more than great pop music, but also some amazing rock'n'roll. Mark 'Porkchop' Holder originally turned the blues on its head more than a decade ago as a founding member of punk/blues band Black Diamond Heavies. While he's been tearing up juke joints, festivals and dive bars since then with his own fiery brand of the blues, it wasn't until earlier this year that the Tennessee musician released his own debut solo album, Let It Slide, an acclaimed effort that No Depression described as, '...fire in a barrel. If the Rolling Stones camped with Howlin' Wolf and Billy Gibbons on trucker speed for the weekend with a fuzz pedal, this would be its precious procreation.' Now just nine months later, the guitar-slinging, harp-shredding bluesman is releasing his follow-up album, Death and the Blues. On it, Holder, along with Travis Kilgore (bass) and Doug Bales (drums), builds on the success of his previous album with eight newly penned tracks, along with three rousing covers. Despite the fact that this was recorded in the same studio as their last album (Tiny Buzz in Chattanooga, TN) and by the same line-up, the results are much heavier and tighter on this affair, with Holder's inventive slide guitar-work snarling and baring teeth over the rock-solid rhythms from Kilgore and Bales.'Blues is the music of poor people, and poor people live closer to death than other people do, Holder admits.
