The 63rd Taiga drama, "HikaruKimie," has been airing since January 7, 2024. Written by Shizuka Oishi and starring Yuriko Yoshitaka, the story revolves around Murasaki Shikibu, the woman who authored the millennium-spanning bestseller "The Tale of Genji." The story of Hikaru Genji, also known as Hikaru Kimi, is driven by hidden passion, extraordinary imagination, and her feelings for one man, Fujiwara no Michinaga. This is the tale of a woman who lived earnestly, embracing an unchanging love in a world of constant change. The music is composed by Yumi Fuyuno, known for popular works such as NHK's Saturday period drama "Ashigirl" and the morning drama "Scarlet." The theme song is performed by Kyohei Sorita (piano), Tomoyuki Asakawa (harp), Junichi Hirokami (conductor), and the NHK Symphony Orchestra, painting an elegant and ephemeral world. Fuyuno carefully selected 29 tracks from the drama’s incidental music to create this best-of album, which evokes many memorable scenes from the series. The first-edition release comes with an 8-page, LP-sized memorial photo book of Mahiro and Michinaga's love story.
