Robedoor Hidden Ascension

Throughout 2006, Robedoor convened weekly in a windowless 2nd floor mixing studio in Eagle Rock, California. Four amplifiers were circled, a microphone hung from the ceiling, the floor covered with cords, keyboards, pedals, drums, and broken electronics, then the 4-track turned on. Countless hours of ritual drones and dungeon summonings were documented. From these, three summer recordings were mixed down and sent to the Ruralfaune label in Angers, France, who issued Hidden Ascension as a limited Cd-r later that year. Three years later, the New Haven, Connecticut imprint Music Fellowship proposed reissuing the collection as an LP. Audio was transferred, center labels printed, then communications ceased. For various reasons, the label dissipated. In 2019, an associate at Music Fellowship messaged with news—100+ vinyl copies of the album had been discovered in a Connecticut basement. Though manufactured in 2009, the label was in such limbo that the LPs were simply stashed and forgotten about. Five years later, the stock was finally salvaged and shipped to the west coast. New artwork was designed and printed in Arcata, California by Bug Press. 18 long years after their creation, these smoggy demonic rumblings rise again.
