Out Friday 28th February, the album marks the Hot 8 Brass Band's first new project since 2019, featuring previously released single "Big Tuba", their cover of Bill Withers' "Ain't No Sunshine" and Al Green's "Let's Stay Together". The album delves into the traditional jazz heritage of their hometown of New Orleans, available on CD and vinyl. The vinyl release includes a special 3-colour A-Side/B-Side vinyl, a 12" poster insert, and an exclusive 7" featuring "Let's Stay Together", and the band's iconic cover of Marvin Gaye's "Sexual Healing (Bossman Edit)", making its vinyl debut.
The album title is a heartfelt tribute to Bennie Pete, the band's co-founder and sousaphone player:

"On September 6 2021, we, the Hot 8 Brass Band, lost our beloved bandleader, Bennie Pete. He was more than just our leader; he was a constant galvanising force within our own family of fellow musicians and beyond. Bennie was a rock in our lives. He was a leader, a teacher, and a mentor. “Impressions / I Am Thousands” is the new release from Berlin-based electronic producer and multi-instrumentalist sUb_modU, aka the brainchild of Italian Romeo Sandri. Both songs form part of the jazz musician’s debut album ‘Descent To The Centre’, a record that is an autobiographical and existentialist account of oneself, blending the electric/psychedelic spectrum of jazz with house, avant-garde and ambient leanings.
