Virginia Beach's Turnover has never been a band afraid of telling the truth. The emotional honesty poured out over a number of anthemic releases has been a proven formula of success for the band, but on their sophomore LP Peripheral Vision, the band treads into deeper water. Working again with Magnolia producer Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive), Turnover's latest record shows a band maturing to create their best effort: an ethereal, reverb-drenched soundscape blending elements of hazy dream pop and the delicate emo rock of yesteryear. Songs like "Hello Euphoria" and "Like Slow Disappearing" highlight the new calmer, more subdued approach to songwriting, matched by Austin Getz's somber, confessional lyrics that echo throughout songs as if his words were haunting every measure. Peripheral Vision solidifies the idea that Turnover is a band with its finger on the pulse of its generation: growing and learning with every release, but never failing to provide a relatable, cathartic experience for anyone listening.

Nicole Dollanganger has been quietly crafting her own world since 2012. Over a number of self-released albums recorded mostly in her own bedroom and bathroom, her signature style of gothic folk is inspired by countless influences, none more than the archetype of the love song. Dollanganger's signature lyricism is front-and-center - usually accompanied by barely more than a few lonesome chords, narratives are idyllic, yet haunting - dream-like, yet startlingly real. The thesis of "Ode to Dawn Wiener" is as straightforward as its subtitle, but over ten songs it becomes clear that there is much more to these songs than what they offer at the surface.

Anxious' second album Bambi arrives this winter on Run For Cover Records. It's been a whirlwind few years for the Fairfield, Connecticut five-piece - since the release of their debut album Little Green House, there's been little time for anything other than consistent touring with bands like Bayside, Drug Church and The Wonder Years. Somewhere during that endless grind, vocalist Grady Allen was sitting in a hotel room and stumbled upon a name typed into a long-forgotten memo on his phone: Bambi. "We should have named the band Bambi," he recalls admitting to his bandmates. Bambi stuck with the band after that night and eventually it evolved from a "what-if" into the name of Anxious' second full-length album. Bambi is a record of remarkable growth, depth, ambition, and energy. It takes all the unsolvable and unavoidable problems of exiting adolescence and makes them resonate in urgent and authentic new ways. The album has deep roots in the storied lineage of Northeast tri-state hardcore and emo, but it also fully embraces the widescreen alternative rock songwriting at which Anxious have previously only hinted. It's a statement of purpose, the kind of album that comes from a band reconciling where they've been with where they want to go. Bambi is the sound of Anxious putting everything on the line-and coming out on the other side better than ever. Inspired by "big swing" records like Blink-182's self-titled or Jimmy Eat World's Clarity, Anxious set out to redefine the band without losing sight of what made them work in the first place. Tracks like "Head & Spine," "Sunder," and "Tell Me Why" showcase the scope of Anxious' evolution, tapping crunchy '90s rock guitarwork, layered '60s-esque harmonies, and crisp, modern production that captures the unrivaled energy of seeing the band play live.

Narrow Head's debut full-length record Satisfaction is available once again on vinyl for the first time since its initial release in 2016. Reissued by Run For Cover, this version of the album includes updated album art and a limited color vinyl release. While the band offered a handful of one-off singles and demos prior to Satisfaction's release, this record offers a perfect introduction to the Houston band's world.Revisiting Satisfaction after the release of last year's 12th House Rock finds this younger version of the band honing in their signature blend melody, heaviness and atmosphere. Leadoff track "Necrosis" immediately recalls the heaviness of genre fore-bearers like touring partners Quicksand, while standout song "Cool In Motion" kicks off with what feels like an all-time alt-rock hook before disintegrating into an airy and melodic full-band jam.

Front man Austin Getz doesn't blink when asked to sum up Turnover's third full-length, Good Nature. "Learning," he replies. "This whole record is about learning. Opening your eyes to new things, going outside of your comfort zone, and learning to grow into something new."The album's unique blend of musical and spiritual growth is immediately audible on the opening track, "Super Natural," a late-summer idyll of intertwined guitar parts and laidback vocals. Listening to how the leisurely "Nightlight Girl" melts into a more propulsive selection like "Breeze," and the way Good Nature flows together as a seamless whole, it's also evident that the foursome has been paying closer attention to how artists from earlier eras made full-length albums: the range of textures, tempos, and dynamics on Good Nature are infuenced in part by bossa nova, cool jazz, electronic music, and psychedelic grooves. This infux of new infuences and inspiration, navigated by Peripheral Vision producer Will Yip, results in the band's best album to date. Good Nature comes from a place of calm and contentment, nurtured by looking inward.

For Wilkes-Barre's One Step Closer - the concept of home is complicated. "I've never felt so distant in my life," vocalist Ryan Savitski screams on the lead single "Pringle Street," a place in his hometown that binds the album's lyrics to both a precise location and feeling of displacement. On their first ever full-length album and debut for Run For Cover This Place You Know, the band offers a modern coming-of-age story about growing up and grasping both the known and the unknown. One Step Closer started in 2016 and in their short five years, Savitski, along with drummer Tommy Norton, bassist Brian Talipan and guitarists Ross Thompson & Grady Allen have come into their own as a modern hardcore mainstay. Their 2019 EP 'From Me To You' countered existing trends in exchange for a more melodic sound in the vein of bands like Turning Point and Title Fight. They went on to open for Have Heart at the band's now legendary reunion shows that summer, and joined bands like Knuckle Puck and Turnstile on tour before pausing to write their debut album. This Place You Know grapples with the weight of themes like isolation, depression, and loss - all amplified by driving bass lines, em-phatic guitar riffs and unwavering drumming performed by the band. From the first moments of album opener "I Feel So," the stakes are made clear by the anchoring lyric 'this place you know, sometimes it hides the truth and lets people go" - One Step Closer is attempting to resolve the unresolvable anguish of moving on from everything you once knew.

Almost two years to the date of the release of their breakthrough album, Citizen return with their highly anticipated follow-up full-length, Everybody is Going to Heaven. Haunting these ten songs is a foreboding, dark atmosphere masterfully crafted by producer Will Yip, and an immediate, intense energy is palpable from even the first grimy seconds of the opener, "Cement." As with every one of Citizen's releases, Mat Kerekes' signature vocal delivery here is a trademark feature, demonstrating the emotional tension that boils over on this release. As cathartic as ever, he duels between a soft croon and a haunting scream, confronting his demons on tracks like "My Favorite Color" echoing the tormented refrain, "my heart still beats for nothing". And while most of the record is an intense and noisy onslaught, songs like "Heaviside" and "Yellow Love" act as armistices, each aching in reverb-drenched consonance. Everybody is Going to Heaven is a turning point for Citizen: once regarded as newcomers with undeniable potential, the band shows here that they have matured both abruptly and uniquely, with no end to their upward trajectory in sight.

We each have our own idea of what it means to live through a period filled with perpetual dread, a slowly burning world, and overwhelming darkness. In the case of Portrayal of Guilt, their tortuous afterlife comes with grief, loss, masochism, suffering, and pain. On Christfucker, their second full-length of 2021, Portrayal of Guilt plunges headfirst into unfathomable depths, creating a work of art that's powerfully unsettling. "We think of it partially in the sense of scoring a horror movie," guitarist/vocalist Matt King says. "We wanted to create an atmosphere of anxiety and fear." The entirety of Christfucker is set to unrelenting, nihilistic, howling soundscapes, created by King, drummer James Beveridge, and bassist, Alex Stanfield. Each track tells a story set in the darkest of settings for the listener to interpret and explore. *Beginning with the ominous "The Sixth Circle," which features King shrieking over hypnotic guitar patterns and a thudding rhythm, the band eventually roars to life with a tyrannical blast, delving you further into its oppressive heaviness. On "Bed of Ash," the band plumb new depths while exploring the mechanistic gnashings of industrial drum and bass. On "_where the suffering never ends," churning, gruesome instrumentals provide the backdrop to a tale of brutal demise. Recorded at Strange Weather and Circular Ruin studios in Brooklyn with Ben Greenberg, Christfucker features guest vocals from Jenna Rose of New York darkwave outfit Anatomy (on "Sadist") and Touché Amoré vocalist Jeremy Bolm (on "Fall From Grace"). Started in 2017, Portrayal of Guilt have released two full-length albums, two EPs, four splits & a digital single. They've toured the world relentlessly since their inception, playing with bands such as Deafheaven, Pg.99, Touché Amoré, Soft Kill and many more...

Cloudy Orange Vinyl.Since first meeting as midwestern high-schoolers in 2009, Citizen have emerged as one of the most promising young bands in the alternative underground today. The band signed to Run For Cover Records in early 2012, releasing their EP Young States that year as well as a split with labelmates Turnover. In February of 2013, Citizen entered Studio 4 with producer Will Yip (Title Fight, Circa Survive, Daylight) to record Youth, their debut full-length. From the first note of album opener "Roam The Room", the fuzzy, guitar-driven rock songs bleed emotion straight through to closer "Drawn Out". Citizen have called on the ghosts of Brand New and early Nirvana, creating a sound that is familiar but immediately all its own.

Blue Glitter Vinyl. One Step Closer has always believed that hardcore is limitless. On All You Embrace, the band puts that theory into practice. Every release from the Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania band has seen them exploring the sonic overlaps of hardcore, emo, and '90s alternative rock without an iota of self-consciousness, or pretension, creeping into the mix. All You Embrace is a collection of 11 songs that show One Step Closer reaching for something deeply honest and, as always, authentic."I wanted to showcase One Step Closer in its fullest state," says vocalist Ryan Savitski. "Every single part of the band, I wanted it to be there. I wanted us to be 100% ourselves and be as authentic to our band as we could possibly be." For fans of their first EP From Me To You, there are songs like "Blur My Memory," which show the passionate melodic hardcore the band built its name on is still part of the program. But it's immediately followed by "The Gate," a song that taps into the expansive reaches the band hinted at on This Place You Know and put on full display with the powerful follow-up EP, Songs For The Willow. Every element of One Step Closer is on display throughout the record, as they expound upon every idea until each one has achieved its full potential. The result is a record that's bigger, catchier, and moodier than anything they've done before, while still feeling exactly like OSC.Taken in full, All You Embrace is the sound of One Step Closer honoring their past while building a future that looks more open, more creative, and more expansive. It's a place where records like Start Today, Diary, and Floral Green are all in conversation with one another. Even the album's cover art marks a new direction for the band - the dizzying, frigid blur of blues & blacks colliding is a painting of guitarist Ross Thompson spinning in place, evoking how it feels to listen to these eleven tracks about change, grief, anger and the growing up. One Step Closer feels like the next in a line of revered bands coming from t...

Jade Green Swirl vinyl.Camp Cope's new album How To Socialise & Make Friends will be released on March 2nd 2018. The follow up to their 2016 self-titled debut kicks off with the instantly remarkable bass line of "The Opener," an explosive diatribe against the sexist double standards of the music industry at large. What follows the lead single are a collection of songs that anchor on the cycles of life, loss and growth through resilience and those moments of finding and being yourself. Throughout the nine songs on How To Socialise & Make Friends it becomes clear that if their debut was the flame, this is Camp Cope rising from the ashes, stronger and more focused than ever.

Horse Jumper of Love thrive on patient and pummeling songs.Since 2013, the Boston trio of singer-guitarist Dimitri Giannopoulos, bassist John Margaris, and drummer James Doran haveslowly stretched the fringes of indie rock across five full-lengthLPs. Their music unwinds with gutting emotional intensity thanksto Giannopoulos' impressionistic lyrics and how the arrangementsviolently lurch from delicate to bludgeoning. Disaster Trick, theband's new album out August 16 via Run For Cover, is their mostdirect and uncompromising LP yet. Its 11 songs tackle self-destructivenessand healing with jolting lucidity.Where the band's last LP 2023's Heartbreak Rules excelled withquiet, bare-bones songwriting, Disaster Trick cranks up the volumeand boasts some of the most expansive arrangements of theband's catalog. Recorded at Asheville, North Carolina's Drop ofSun Studios with producer Alex Farrar, the recordings soar withsearing guitars and a thunderous rhythm section. "I tried the quietthing on the last album and I realized there's definitely two parts ofme: I like really heavy music, and I like really gentle music," saysGiannopoulos. "The two albums I was listening to the most, whilewe were in the studio were the Leonard Cohen's Songs From aRoom and Hum's Downward is Heavenward."Disaster Trick is a dark record but it's never dour. There's a glimmerof hope and humor throughout these 11 songs, written with thegrace that only time and growing up can bring. As he sings on"Death Spiral," "I know it sounds dramatic / But I must describe /The way that it felt." There's catharsis when it's needed most. "Thisalbum is a reflection on destructive behavior from a lens of moreclarity," says Giannopoulos. "A lot of the songs came out of thispoint where things in my life were going well but I couldn't accept it.I was being a brat. Disaster Trick is me cleaning up my act a bit andreflecting on it."

Tigers Jaw is the second full-length by American emo band Tigers Jaw. It was released 2008. Five young friends from Scranton, PA known as Tigers Jaw play their brand of upbeat yet melancholy indie-rock. The subtle yet massively clever lyrics combine with music that moves with such youthful exuberance even the most jaded listener will look back to their more careless days. The debut from Tigers Jaw may wear is influences on its sleeve, but instead of a repetitive list of sound-alike bands, themes such as death, friendship, and growing up are tackled from an endearing and hopeful perspective that is almost impossible not to relate to.

teen suicide's first & only proper album, `i will be my own hell because there is a devil inside my body', has been a sought after release for many collectors after it's ultra-limited vinyl release in 2012. Now, Run For Cover Records will be reissuing my own hell, with remastered audio, expanded artwork and 8 never-before-issued bonus tracks. Across the album's 10 songs, the band displays a knack for different sounds and styles. Intimate, keyboard driven tracks like `cop graveyard' and `grim reaper' sit beside more energetic full-band outings like `dead bird skeleton and `give me back to the sky', the latter even adding an evocative viola, piano and choral arrangement to it's chaotic center. It's to the band's credit that their more outré moments feel necessary, not distracting. What becomes clear upon listening to `my own hell' is that beneath the dreamy haze & noisy apathy of teen suicide's recordings exist ernest, extremely well-written pop songs that reflect and express the uncertainty and desperation of reality

The first two minutes of Sun June's third album, Bad Dream Jaguar, is a reverie - Laura Colwell's voice floats above a slow-burn,sparse synth, conjuring a tipsy loneliness, a hazy recollection,a disco ball spinning at the end of the night for an empty dancefloor. Sun June's music often feels like a shared memory - thedetails so close to the edge of a song that you can touch them. And as an Austin-based project, their music has also always feltstrangely and specifically Texan - unhurried, long drives acrossan impossible expanse of openness, refractions shimmering offthe pavement in the heat. But on Bad Dream Jaguar, Sun June is unmoored. The backdropof Texas is replaced by longing, by distance, by transience, and aquiet fear. The only sense of certainty comes from the murky past. It's a dispatch from aging, when you're in the strange in-betweenof yourself: there's a clear image of the person you once wereand the places you inhabited, generational curses and our fami-lies, but the future feels vast, unclear - and the present can't helpbut slip through your fingers. There's a mix of hi-fi and lo-fi; some songs, like "Texas," whichthe band had to learn at a breakneck pace ahead of their record-ing session, was recorded on a first take, live in the room, while"Eager" and "Easy Violence" feature early vocal takes from Col-well, the final songs built atop the demos. The latter track detailsstaying up all night, being a menace to society, falling into badpatterns, but is followed by "John Prine," a drumless, piano-basedballad, a mash of pedal steel manipulated to sound closer tosynths.Sun June's records have always been deceptively airy soundingin the face of melancholia, belying its densely textured founda-tion in a sense of ease. The layers on Bad Dream Jaguar don'ttangle but they float, sheaths of divergent and luminescent sonicshanging together as the sun goes down, darkness seeping in.The record exists in the chasm between giving up and goingall-...

White w/ Red Splatter Vinyl. For their third album As You Please, Citizen is looking inward. Pairing up again with longtime producer Will Yip, the band presents twelve songs that fuse aspects of their entire catalog into one neoteric whole. While the cathartic melancholy of their debut Youth and the jarring intensity of 2015's Everybody is Going to Heaven are both present, the most welcome addition to Citizen's arsenal on As You Please is the range of auxiliary instrumentation and sonic experimentation on the album. This is most notable on "In the Middle of it All," where vocalist Mat Kerekes is sampled singing the song title in a modulated, haunting chorus that echoes throughout the song. The addition of organs and unconventional drum effects on songs like "You Are A Star" and "Medicine" create shifting emphases on tension and frailty, while the huge choruses of songs like opener "Jet" and "I Forgive No One" are reminders that while Citizen dove headfirst into uncharted territory with their new album, the band is still as good as ever at writing emotionally-charged anthems. As You Please presents Citizen's vision at the most focused it has ever been - it is delicately crafted to provoke at every moment.

Fiddlehead's third album Death is Nothing to Us is a defiant, new chapter for the band. Since 2014, the Boston-based group have been honing their unique sound, bringing together the energy of hardcore, the anthemic melodies of `90s alternative, and the unbridled passion of Revolution Summer era emo. Their previous albums, 2018's Springtime and Blind and 2021's Between The Richness, dealt heavily with grief from different perspectives, and now their latest feels like a de facto culmination, drawing together many of the catalog's through-lines sonically and lyrically. The band again teamed with producer Chris Teti for their third record, and his punchy production captures Fiddlehead's live energy while showcasing the massive guitars and undeniable catchiness that makes their music so immensely satisfying. The album's concise 27 minutes sound like a natural extension of all of the band's strengths, but is glued together by vocalist Pat Flynn's singular tuneful roar. Flynn, since his time as the vocalist of Have Heart and now as Fiddlehead's frontman, has earned a reputation as one of hardcore's most thoughtful lyricists. He interweaves his ruminations on life, death, and all the joy and tragedy in between with references to Roman philosopher Lucretius; the author Jean Améry; other musicians like Bad Brains, Alex G, or Wire, and even references to the band's own back catalog. The humanity across Death Is Nothing To Us is palpable in every note. It's the kind of art that observes pain with real honesty rather than prescribing a solution for it-and in doing so, inadvertently offers some sense of hopefulness. The album finds Fiddlehead so deeply delving into the pain, confusion, nuances, and contradictions of sadness-so willingly wrapping their arms around a concept as existentially baffling as death itself-that they've created an album that is truly life-affirming. Death is Nothing to Us exemplifies so much of what makes Fiddlehead a special band: taking these heady, unanswerable questions and wrestling with them in a very earthbound way, all wrapped up in the urgent power of a three minute punk song.

In celebration of the ten year anniversary of their seminal album, Seahaven and Run For Cover Records present WFX (Ten Years of Winter Forever). Newly remixed by Vince Ratti and remastered by Ted Jensen. On their debut full-length and follow up to 2010's amazing Ghost, Seahaven exude an effortless and expert musical control, toeing the line between post-punk, emo and post-hardcore styles, moods and atmospheres. The songs carry an ethereal, organic depth and expertise of the space surrounding the music, resulting in a moving dynamism. From airy, minimalist textures to catchy, upbeat pop-rock sections to fully overblown anthems, the band stitch cohesive songs together behind the weaving delivery of vocalist Kyle Soto. Soto moves between storyteller drawl, delicate melody and gruff yell, dripping a tortured sincerity. The delivery reflects the band's delicate musical balance, yet the lyrics paint pictures of a loss of control. Soto uses the musical canvas to try to make sense of love, God, abandonment; events outside of his control and how they affect what he can control. The heartrending stories, musical peaks and valleys, lows and highs, darks and brights push Seahaven in every direction, yet thread a needle that pulls Winter Forever into a cohesive, dynamic and incredibly impressive listen.

Temple of Angels' debut full-length, Endless Pursuit, is a towering and stunning album of gothic beauty that heralds the proper arrival of one of the most dazzling bands performing right now. Shaped by the ghosts of the past and the wonder of the present, the release is dream pop at its most striking, using the haze and beauty of the genre not to blur songs til they are impenetrable in every sense, but rather to capture the fleeting wonder of new love and emphasize the confusion and disorientation of loss. Formed in 2017 in Austin, Texas, Avery Burton (guitar/vocals),Patrick Todd (drums/vocals), and Cole Tucker (guitar) had all played in various hardcore and punk bands around town for years, but were keen to explore the dreamier, moodier music they enjoyed as well. After recording a few demos, they recruited Bre Morell (vocals) to be their lead singer. The new group self-releasing two EPs-2017's Temple of Angels and 2018's Foiled-and a single on Funeral Party Records in 2019, and were soon performing with the likes of Beach Fossils, Iceage, Narrow Head, and Turnover as well as at festivals like Levitation and Not Dead Yet. Endless Pursuit navigates between emotional highs and lows with a dreamlike complexity. The title track starts with an eerie lumber that opens the record, with shimmering, spider-like guitar lines and Morell's hushed vocals swirling together into an echoing trance. That's followed immediately with "Tangled In Joy", a song that finds the band at their brightest and catchiest, an avalanche of jangling guitar chords and vocals at their sweetest, swelling and cascadingver each other. It's fitting that Endless Pursuit ends with "(ForYou) I'd Lose It All," a track that's as grandiose and gigantic as The Chameleons at their peak and possibly Temple of Angels' most anthemic song to date. With Todd taking center stage on vocals, out pours a tale of desire so intense it consumes every part of your being, matched by a thunderous rhythm section, and amplified into the heavens by soaring keyboards in the...

Six years removed from their last release, Seattle's Great Grandpareturn with Patience, Moonbeam - an ambitious and deeply movingnew album that almost didn't happen. A decade of making musictogether was put on pause while each of the band's were called indifferent directions. But as with any good relationship built on mutuallove, trust, and a mountain of shared history, the quintet reunited, scrapped most ideas of songs they had put together, and startedfresh to work on what would become their best album to date, dueout in March on Run For Cover Records.Whereas 2019's Four of Arrows mostly came together in the pressure-cooker atmosphere of the studio with the help of an outsideproducer, Patience, Moonbeam emerged slowly through a generousdemoing process. With fewer constraints and more control, theband had the opportunity to experiment and take their time, leadingto a collection that feels and sounds more fully, confidently, themselves.Built on an "open door policy" for writing and recording, Patience,Moonbeam is the result of how seamlessly all five members contributedto the creation of the album. The result is a record that swingslike a pendulum from heavy to tender, playful to weighty, paintinga sonic illustration of the pains and pleasures of being alive acrosseleven songs. What could suffer from a kitchen-sink approachinstead comes together brilliantly, a testament to the band's musicaland spiritual connection. With Patience, Moonbeam, Great Grandpa has crafted a triumphantdocument of what happens when your collaborators become yourchosen family.

The Obsessives, above all else, write the music that they want to listen to. Comprised of founding members Nick Bairatchnyi (guitar, bass, vox) and Jackson Mansfield (drums, guitar, keys), their sound has spent the last decade evolving through elements of DIY, grunge, alternative, and math to shape into something that feels the most uniquely authentic to their version of exciting noise. Bairatchnyi's lyrics emphasize the importance of songwriting's storytelling aspect, and what pours out of him has a rough edge of urgent specificity. Paired with a soundscape that manages to both punch in its efficacy and shimmer in its intricacy, the sonic chemistry between these two high school friends delivers unmatched, easygoing musicality. Their arrival took shape through weekender basement shows in Bethesda and the labyrinthine DIY community in Arlington and D.C. before finally making their move to Philadelphia to hit with cornerstone groups like Modern Baseball, ultimately solidifying their place in the scene. Joined by Ben Kaunitz (guitar, bass) and Coby Haynes (drums, percussion) in 2018, the live lineup has evolved from a sonic rough-and-tumble to a fully collaborative space, encouraging a new era of thematic cohesion. After opening up the creative dialogue beyond just a duo, the band's sound has been able to make a mature tonal shift in style and form. Following the release of 2017's The Obsessives (Lame-O Records), the band has spent a lot of time compartmentalizing and re-shaping their projects. The difference between being 18 and 24 isn't the world, but at the same time _ it is. The Obsessives' sound has grown up with and around them, and is ultra-specific to what they feel are various catalytic experiences. The determinant factor that sets 2015's Heck No Nancy (Near Mint Records) apart from 2021's forthcoming release under producer Will Yip (Memory Music) is an entire set of lives that's been lived. The best part is _ they dig it as much as you will.

"I went through a lot of cataloguing of the self over these last few years," says Mat Cothran, the North Carolina artist behind the acclaimed indie project Elvis Depressedly. "It felt like I was saying goodbye to an era of my life, and a big part of that process was going back and listening to the music that I loved growing up. I wanted to pay homage to the songs that got me through."In that sense, Cothran's stellar new album, `Depressedelica,' is something of a love letter to music itself, a synthesis of the broad spectrum of art and influence that shaped his youth and forged his singular sensibilities. `Depressedelica' marks Cothran's first album of new material under the Elvis Depressedly moniker in four years, and it finds him writing and recording more adventurously than ever before, pushing sonic boundaries and blurring genre lines with gleeful abandon. As wide-ranging as the arrangements here are - autotuned vocals and remixed video game samples sit side by side with hazy guitars and droning synths - the collection as a whole feels remarkably cohesive and sharply focused, the unmistakable vision of a songwriter and producer with a voracious musical appetite and a firm grasp on his identity."I might be known for making this kind of low-fi bedroom music," reflects Cothran, "but I really love electronic and experimental and psychedelic stuff, too. Music has always been the most powerful, beautiful thing in my life, and more than anything, I wanted this album to capture how much it means to me." While Cothran has issued critically lauded records under a variety of banners through the years (his discography also includes work as Coma Cinema and Matthew Lee Cothran), he first began recording as Elvis Depressedly in 2011, initially introducing the project as a solo endeavor but later building it up to incorporate a rotating cast of live and studio collaborators over the course of what Rolling Stone described as "a string of excellent low-fi releases." In 2015, he signed to Run For Cover and released his...

Written, recorded, produced and mixed by Rania Woodard and Brian Squillace. After finding their own unique sound across 3 EPs, LANNDS has expanded their lush, electro-pop palette into new territory. Music For The Future is a confident, sweeping feat of enlivened production and intimate, emotional storytelling, both gentler and more mature than the band has ever been. Replete with messages of care and reflection, Woodard describes this album as an "open letter" to herself. At the time they began writing, Woodard and Squillace found themselves navigating a wave of personal changes, including the anticipation of their imminent cross-country move from Jacksonville, Florida to Los Angeles. Balanced on this daunting brink of transformation, the songs across Music For The Future are LANNDS' most courageous yet, and serve as thoughtful reminders to their future selves, and anyone listening, that everything is going to be alright. On album opener "Fortune", Woodard sings, "I'll leave the light on for you", over a bubbling arpeggiated synth, a comforting reassurance that sets the tone for the rest of the album.Optimistic song "Wheels In Motion" has the washed out vocals and wavy guitar lines LANNDS has become well known for over the years, but descends into a fuzzy outro with sputtering, distorted vocals, and spiraling synth, like a TV channel tuned to static. LANNDS is not afraid of the future.

Fiddlehead's debut LP Springtime and Blind is an exploration of grief both introspective and through the insight of others. Following the release of their Out of the Bloom EP on Lockin Out Records, the Boston-based band have created a debut LP that shares an anguishing, relatable story of love and loss through the catharsis of spirited, loud indie rock. Consisting of guitarist Alex Henery (also of Basement), vocalist Patrick Flynn and drummer Shawn Costa (both of Have Heart), Fiddlehead explore musical styles different from their other projects while bringing a familiar energetic and emotional core to the collaboration.Springtime and Blind stemmed from Pat's loss of his father. Flynn looks at how his mother coped with the situation- losing her spouse, her center of gravity -writing the lyrics as an emotional catharsis for both of them. While the process of writing and recording helped Flynn cope with his personal loss there's no doubt it carries a universal message that can help ease others' loneliness. A contrast to itself, Springtime and Blind is a multidimensional and relatable journey through its cathartic message and spirited instrumentals.

Peripheral Vision solidifies the idea that Turnover is a band with it's finger on the pulse of it's generation: growing and learning with every release, but never failing to provide a relatable, cathartic experience for anyone listening.

teen suicide's first & only proper album, `i will be my own hell because there is a devil inside my body', has been a sought after release for many collectors after it's ultra-limited vinyl release in 2012.

Young Guv only makes hits, baby. It's what he was born to do. Too many hits, in fact - since last summer, Guv (a.k.a. Ben Cook) moved to Brooklyn from his native Toronto and wrote music, because that's what Young Guv does. This manic pace produced two albums worth of power-pop bliss, psychedelic riffs, and swagger that would make a Gallagher (the British ones, not the watermelon ones) blush. The end result: GUV I and GUV II, two full-length albums available only from Run For Cover Records or from GUV himself. Now, GUV I & II is available for the first time ever as a 2xLP set. Both of Young Guv's releases from this year in one reimagined set on color vinyl. It features new art laid out & illustrated by Braulio Amado as well as two new bonus tracks exclusive to the release. 19 tracks in one set, for your ears only.I'm going to level with you here: 2019 has been the Year of GUV. You're going to feel like a real dweeb if you miss out on this now, with only a few weeks left to be a part of it. This is your chance to relive your favorite GUV moments, which are only getting further away with every word you read here: Signing To RFC, Touring with Culture Abuse, the Sound & Fury Aftershow, Touring with Turnover, Playing Matty Matheson's Fest, The GUV NYC Release show_ he's done it all! Now it's time to cement your place in the GUV legacy with GUV I & II, available November 8th on Run For Cover Records.

For the last five years, Los Angeles-based musician Noah Weinmanhas been Runnner, and for much of those five years, Runnnerhas been working. Working on his 2021 collection album, AlwaysRepeating; working as a producer on the Skullcrusher records; and,of course, working towards his debut full-length,Like Dying Stars,We're Reaching Out. This is music made at home, using anythingand everything: cell phones and handheld tape recorders, the humof an a/c unit, voicemails from friends. These are songs where theedges have been left deliberately rough because perfection invitespredictability, and imperfection imbalances, and those imbalancesask the listener to listen again, and again.Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out is the result of years ofwriting, recording, and tinkering in Weinman's home, a lovinglycrafted patchwork of organic instrumentation and otherworldly digitalmanipulation. The unexpected sounds and lush production elevateWeinman's already impressive skill for melody and warm vocals, always pivoting between sparse intimacy and sweeping grandeur atthe right moments. With humor and heart, Weinman's lyrics sift through isolation andanxiety in the everyday: ruining the rice, buying shampoo, theway boredom and loneliness are tangled up together. And fromthese fragments, he makes something new, but also somethingalready known and felt at once. Tracks like "i only sing about food,""raincoat," or "chess with friends" explore these different mental andsometimes even physical barriers to communication, while skitteringdrum beats and scrappy acoustics guide the listener throughWeinman's crowded thoughts.Often Like Dying Stars, We're Reaching Out sounds like life caughtinside a moment, unsure of what comes next, but there is hope andlightness here too. Despite our inability to be what we want to be,to know where we are going, feel we belong, to be present, and topresent ourselves fully and completely to the world, Runnner offersthat perhaps it's this l...

Balance and Composure and Tigers Jaw's Iconic 2011 split 12" is an important time capsule for both bands. These eight songs capture the energy of an entire music scene cultivated in Pennsylvania with among peer bands like Title Fight, Daylight/Superheaven and The Menzingers. The bouncy intro of Balance and Composure's opener "Kaleidoscope" sets an immediate tone that carries out through their four songs, ending with the spacy fan-favorite "Rope." Fans of Tigers Jaw may recognize most of the songs on their side of the split from other earlier releases like "Belongs to the Dead." On these tracks, a full-band backing brings those once-scarce songs new life, like on the heavily Twin Peaks-influenced "Lodging" or the saccharine singalong "Jet Alone".

Since first meeting as midwestern high-schoolers in 2009, Citizen have emerged as one of the most promising young bands in the alternative underground today.

Ann Arbor's Pity Sex built the world of White Hot Moon, their second album, inch-by-inch. The group, formed in 2011 by childhood friends and lifelong collaborators Sean St. Charles (co-lyricist/drums) and Brennan Greaves (vocals/guitar), came together explicitly to try its hand at writing pop songs. St. Charles and Greaves were putting their hardcore band to rest, enlisting Britty Drake (co-lyricist/vocals/guitar) and Brandan Pierce (bass) to round out Pity Sex's line-up. Now, the band is using the foundation of 2013's celebrated Feast of Love as the framework for something bigger, stronger, and altogether more monumental. Coming off of tours with Ceremony, Eskimeaux, and Colleen Green_including a run in Australia_the band dove into the studio with Feast of Love producer Will Yip to harness that momentum into an album to showcase Pity Sex's growth. And if White Hot Moon wears its ambition on its sleeve, that's by design: the band looked to wide-screen albums by Yo La Tengo and Sonic Youth for inspiration in finding a bigger sound. That shows: Drake and Greaves spin huge webs of sound, anchored in shoegaze but branching off in a dozen directions, from fuzzed-out power-pop ("Bonhomie") to shimmering balladry ("Dandelion") and back again, while St. Charles and Pierce lock into step subtly counterintuitive rhythms and floor-shaking low-end.

Walking the razor's edge between overdriven navel gazing bliss and perfect pop sensibility, Ann Arbor's Pity Sex have crafted a breathtaking debut LP in 'Feast of Love' that's both awesomely beautiful and deftly evocative. Massive, harmonically distorted guitars and airy dual male/female vocals are hallmarks of Feast of Love, all drenched in warm, dreamy reverb. Most impressive however, is how the band utilizes pop conventions - both vocal and instrumental melody, and a strong and pounding rhythm section - while delving deep into the ethereal power of textured soundscapes. Guitars fuzz and flange, weaving between distinct, identifiable parts and simple brushes of colored noise. The voices similarly drift between carrying delicate melodies and delivering evocative feeling. Calling on the infectious, hooky inclinations of the Pixies, dreary melodies of the Breeders and sonic mass of My Bloody Valentine, Pity Sex's Feast of Love twists and churns with these beautiful yet fleeting vignettes captured in sound.

Petal has always been a deeply personal project for songwriter & lead singer Kiley Lotz. Shame, the band's debut LP three years in the making, is a honest and perceptive exploration of the album's namesake. These twelve tracks recall the elastic indie rock of Death Cab For Cutie and Pedro the Lion - sometimes somber, sometimes upbeat, but always beautifully & thoughtfully crafted. The range of songs and emotions on Shame are notable: tracks like "Heaven" and "Camera Lens II" are indie-pop pleasures brimming with nostalgic remembrance. One of the album's brightest moments comes on "Nature," a brave song lyrically and vocally, as Lotz sings unaccompanied over a singular drum beat, proclaiming fearlessly, "I want to be part of the nature you were born from." The most rewarding part of listening to Shame is realizing that as Kiley Lotz looks inwards and honestly reveals what she sees through her songs, she shows everyone else that the anxieties, doubts and longings that come with the territory of love are universally felt.

mewithoutYou returns with their 5th studio album. Helmed by producer and friend of the band Daniel Smith (Sufjan Stevens) and mixed by Brad Wood (Sunny Day Real Estate), Ten Stories is an allegorical collection of songs that, at first listen, follows a winding narrative about a circus train crash in 19th century Montana. But long-time fans of this band know that although we are immediately introduced to a talking elephant, fox and tiger, there is always more than meets the eye. The Run For Cover Records reissue of Ten Stories includes reimagined and expanded pack- aging by longtime collaborator Charlie Wagers, as well as new colors of vinyl. Includes download code.

Since its initial, limited release, Elvis Depressedly's Holo Pleasures EP has been a sought after relic for old and new fans alike. Run For Cover will rerelease the EP Holo Pleasures / California Dreamin' on all formats on June Third, three years since the release of Holo Pleasures. Reissued and expanded, the release's working title was "Holo Pleasures II," but in reality, the California Dreamin' EP works as a companion to Holo Pleasures rather than a sequel. Taken from the same sessions as Holo Pleasures, the formerly unreleased 6 song EP ventures into different territory while maintaining the same dreamlike dizziness and warmth of it's partner EP. Airy synthesizers, distant drums and cooing vocoders provide an intricate and fascinating backbone to the groovy, trance-inducing songs that are seen by the band as a bridge between the fuzzy indie pop of Holo Pleasures and the more laid-back grooves of their 2015 LP, new alhambra. The double EP provides a unique experience to both long-time and first-time listeners of Elvis Depressedly that a standard reissue of older material wouldn't achieve.

Further Out, the anticipated debut full length from the reclusive Indiana trio Cloakroom, can be defined best as an exploratory sonic mission. From the album's opener, "Paperweight," the crushing force of a wall of distorted bass and pounding drumming collapses to uncover the airy, reverb-soaked vocals of guitarist Doyle Martin, who's carrying a sullen burden that seems just as weighed down. From the headbanging heaviness of "Moon Funeral" to the ethereal moments of songs like "Starchild Skull" and Mesmer," Cloakroom's output is the end result of researching seemingly dissimilar elements like atmospheric post-rock, punishingly slow stoner metal, and cathartic emo and how their best qualities can work into a final, organic sound, masterfully navigated by the expert and completely analog production of Matt Talbot. Further Out boasts the timelessness of a classic record: it is expansive and exploratory while still reflective and referential to the astral tendencies of predecessors like Hum and Jesu. Supersonic Home, the anticipated debut LP from Pittsburgh's resident musical wunderkinds Adventures, is an ambitious blend of powerhouse influences: these ten songs reimagine of the best parts of 90's alt-rock and emo and infuse them with the cathartic energy of punk. However, Adventures delivers much more than just the sum of these parts. Throughout upbeat anthems like opener "Dream Blue Haze" and pensive, melancholic retreats like "Tension and "Long Hair," the constant vocal tandem of Reba Meyers and Kimi Hanauer radiates above every infectious pop-rock riffs and the warm, rhythmic backbone of bass and keyboard. No matter what draws you in to listen to Adventures, there is something undeniably relatable in these songs about honestly dealing with self-doubt, troubled hearts, and the everyday struggle to feel content that will make you keep coming back to Supersonic Home.

"Any song that's true is a good song in my mind," says Kevin Sullivan, the lo-fi bedroom folk artist better known as Field Medic. "That's why I never find it necessary to add too much stuff to my recordings. I'm just into songs themselves."That principle is the guiding light behind Field Medic's hypnotically beautiful and fearlessly honest new record, `fade into the dawn.' Sullivan's first proper full-length release for Run For Cover and his first since making the leap to full-time musician, the collection features ten sparse, acoustic tracks that reckon with our perceptions of success and self as they face down the inevitable complications that arise from realizing any hard-won dream. Sullivan has always written candidly about doubt and darkness and anxiety, but he digs deeper than ever before here, blending black humor and bold introspection as he weighs fantasy against reality, grapples with his relationship with alcohol, and searches for meaning in the mundane. "I used to be a romantic / Now I'm a dude in a laminate," he sings of life on perpetual tour, encapsulating at once both the tantalizing allure and endless tedium of the road.

Eco Mix Color LP.Field Medic's latest album doesn't waste any time gettingto what feels like a mission statement for the record withthe first lines "I want to fall off the face of the earth andprobably die" on opener "Always Emptiness." The longtimesongwriting project of Kevin Patrick Sullivan - Mr. Fieldhimself, the bay-area native who finds himself living in LAthese days - has always had moments of melodrama likethis, but his latest album grow your hair long if you're wantingto see something that you can change feels as emotionallycharged and poetically devastating as anything he's evergiven us. Sullivan has been turning turmoil into beautifulmusic for almost 10 years as Field Medic. The project thathad origins in busking San Francisco streets has blossomedinto a full-time touring act with a few TikTok viral moments.2018's full-length Fade Into the Dawn and the pandemic-eramixtape/album hybrid Floral Prince both offered a glimpseinto how Sullivan's songwriting has evolved since his earliestsongs, but his talent for painting unique folk-music withinfluence from lo-fi indie, twangy alt-country and impromptusoundcloud rap reaches new heights on grow your hairlong_, a deeply personal record about publicly reckoningwith private pain. The record feels like it has a few different personalities. Theboombox drum-beat backing in lead single "I had a dreamthat you died" recalls Field favorites like "henna tattoo" and"POWERFUL LOVE," packed to the brim synthy chorusesand saccharine, caption-ready lyrics about whales and chiapets and existential dread. But there's also new a newfoundemphasis on production on songs like the haunting "stainedglass" and "miracle/marigold," both brought to life with adusty, Nashville-esque sound by producer Gabe Goodman(but have no fear, even with some new studio-level quality,we still get a bladee reference in the latter song). A new record from Turnover arrives this fall. Myself in the Way is the band's fifth full-length album, and it follows their first pause in consistent touring in almost 10 years. While the world was shut down, Turnover's four bandmates spent time meditating, painting, volunteer firefighting, skateboarding, and working in state parks - deepening interests and growing roots in places they hadn't been able to while living life on the road for so long. Over 18 months, these individual experiences acted as the soil in which Myself in the Way grew into Turnover's next album. Returning to Pennsylvania to track with longtime friend and producer Will Yip, vocalist & guitarist Austin Getz cites Quincy Jones, Chic, and Dark Side of the Moon as influences in the way that songs like the infectiously-rhythmic "Ain't Love Heavy" and the trippy, disorienting "Tears of Change" feel wider, deeper and more whole than anything in the band's catalog to date. Drummer Casey Getz' new skills behind the drum set that open up songs on Myself in the Way to more improvisation and fluidity, pairing well with bassist Dan Dempsey's infectious bass-lines and Nick Rayfield's sharpened guitar and piano playing. On Myself in the Way, Turnover's creative vision takes center- stage in every way. The album's cover art - a sparkling array of multicolored gems scattered across a neutral canvas - was painted during lockdown by Dempsey. Music videos for the record were directed and filmed by the band, including the dizzy "Wait Too Long" video shot on retreat in upstate New York with friends and collaborators Kyle Lamb and Blair Kemp. Austin's increased involvement on the production side earned him his first-ever co-producer credit, and Nick Rayfield contributed a new perspective as a songwriter for the first time in the recording process. For a band that has never stopped evolving, Turnover has always remained authentic with every release. Myself in the Way is an achievement that ties new and exciting ideas in with the band's unique artistic ambition.

It would be impossible to encapsulate the entire Tony Molina musical worldview in a single record. This is a man whose home stereo, in a single day, could be blaring The Move, Malo, Internal Bleeding, Dear Nora, and The Melvins. All that said, you'd be hard pressed to find a better entry point to his work than In the Fade, a record that according to the artist himself, ties the entire catalog together.Recorded in spurts over two years in the Bay Area with an array of longtime friends and collaborators, In the Fade is a mix of both new and old for Tony's first solo album in four years. The record came together almost like a compilation, the result of Tony taking inventory of both his extensive solo career and his time in the criminally-underrated band Ovens in the early to mid 2000's. This introspection makes for a very "pop" album - hooks permeate the record's heavier guitar-pop tunes as well as its more delicate folk-rock and indie-pop tracks. It's a return in part to the Ovens sound, but also features elements of his more recent material and introduces some intriguing new wrinkles. In the Fade evokes the sounds of some of Tony's favorite bands: Fastbacks, The Flaming Lips, The Muffs. There's a Black Sabbath cover, some reworked songs from his past and most important of all, some of Tony Molina's finest original songs to date. As a whole, In the Fade encompasses every phase of his recording career to date while also fitting together as a tight, endlessly listenable album - a showcase of Tony Molina's love for well-crafted songs that proves he's one of the best in the game at writing them.

glass beach's debut album the first glass beach album is the first album from glass beach. That's a good place to start, but the album's plain & descriptive title does little to explain exactly what goes on in the hour-long adventure contained therein.the first glass beach album was initially self-released by the band in Spring 2019, but it's roots date back to as early as 2015 - songwriter & band leader j mclendon started demoing songs for the album when they first moved to Los Angeles & spent three years polishing those first demos into these songs with bassist Jonas Newhouse & drummer William White. On their Bandcamp page, the band describes their sound as the accumulation of jazz, new wave, synth music, and emo distorted through the lens of punk. The songs that make up the first glass beach album are ambitious, theatrical and chaotic. Abandoning genre limitations makes glass beach's talent for songwriting all the more apparent - mathy guitar leads, catchy drum grooves and the constant interplay of horns, synths, and even the intermittent theremin set the perfect scene for j's stunning vocal performance, which can shift from a charming falsetto to the lead of a sing-a-long in an instant.

Led by vocalist/multi-instrumentalist Simi Sohota, Healing Potpourri specialize in effervescent guitar pop that incorporates elements of `70s soft rock, chamber pop, lounge, and more, to create songs that are all but guaranteed to leave the listener in a better mood. But on the San Francisco-based band's sophomore LP, Paradise, the group offers more than just sonic escapism. Written and recorded over the past two tumultuous years, Paradise finds Sohota and company processing the often overwhelming deluge of stress, frustration, and despair that's become a part of modern life_but rather than be completely deflated, the band have created some of their most vibrant and instantly appealing music to date. The result is eleven hopeful songs that seek to imagine a better world and strive to make it a reality, while still taking the time to appreciate the moments of brightness that can shine through in hard times.

In the spring of 2020, Ben Cook _ a.k.a. Young Governor, Young Guv, or just Guv _ was holed up in the New Mexico high desert, his U.S. tour having been abruptly covid-cancelled during a southwest swing. He and his bandmates were living moment to moment in something called an Earthship, a solar-rigged adobe structure sustainably constructed with, among other things, recycled bottles and tires. And out there in the serene vastness, as a short ride-it-out stint turned into a nine-month sojourn, Ben was writing music, slowly, little by little, mostly at night while the others slept. By the New Year, almost in spite of himself, he had created a new album, two new albums actually, and through the ordeal he was forever changed. In a place he never expected to be, under circumstances no one could have predicted, and in the face of physical isolation, emotional desolation, and existential dread, Ben created GUV III & IV, a collection of songs dedicated and testifying to the eternal healing power of love _ how to find it in the world, in others, and most importantly, in himself. Written in the New Mexico wilderness and produced in Los Angeles, the double album will finally be available in it's entirety this summer via Run For Cover.Young Guv's talent as a songwriter has been with us for a long time. From forming iconic hardcore act No Warning in 1998 to joining Toronto legends Fucked Up, Ben Cook started writing songs as Guv in 2008 between a slew of other projects that were ambitiously working to define the genres they operated in. When he first started working with Run For Cover in 2019, the plan was to release a single record - but with too many songs to turn away, the project expanded into his first double album, GUV I & II.GUV III & IV finds the same ambition and expertise in hit-making, but this time the individual records hone into specific parts of Guv's sonic palette. GUV III is full of iconic hooks, power-pop guitar riffs and dancable-rock songs, while GUV IV takes notes from psych rock, electro pop and L...

"The sound of indie-rock today" - Pitchfork 8/10"Rising stars from the Melbourne punk scene" - triple j Born in a Melbourne backyard over home job tattoos, CAMP COPE - Georgia Maq, Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich and Sarah Thompson come together to add body and beat to Georgia Maq's solo songs which she has been performing for the past few years. The eight track debut tells of real life working shifts in a hospital, living in rundown share houses in Footscray and what it's like to be a woman in the world. CAMP COPE's soulful, indie-punk played under Maq's raspy and robust voice have made it okay to enjoy feeling angst again. "On their debut EP, Seahaven explores a very transparent back-and-forth between their dark and light sounds, a lot like what we saw Brand New do on Deja Entendu and The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me. Vocalist/guitarist Kyle Soto has that voice that exudes an audible pain sometimes, while at other times sounding so damn hopeful that it might break your heart even more. When Seahaven is playing sadder and darker music, it tends to be more in the vein of perhaps Crime In Stereo, or to compare the band to a more contemporary peer, Balance & Composure. Not many bands are playing this type of music, and a large percentage of the groups that are trying aren't doing it very well. Seahaven isn't just doing it well - they border along fantastic." - Absolutepunk.net

Running With The Hurricane finds Camp Cope on the other side of a storm. The third LP from Melbourne trio Georgia Maq, Kelly-Dawn Hellmrich and Sarah Thompson is about what happens after chaos hits; when you've walked through the fire and come out stronger, calmer and happier than ever before. The band's last album, 2018's How To Socialise And Make Friends, put Camp Cope under an intense spotlight. That release allowed the trio to say what they needed to but both professionally and in their personal lives, they're in a very different place this time around. On Running With The Hurricane, Maq (songwriter, vocals, piano, acoustic & electric guitar), Hellmrich (bass guitar) and Thompson (drums) are older, wiser and happier. It's an album that is gentler than what they have done before, more positive and more at peace with the universe. Because as Georgia Maq sings on the album's title track, sometimes "The only way out is up". While the Big Stuff of this album is all about growth, overcoming and pushing through the pain, the little details are still quintessentially Camp Cope. Running With The Hurricane reflects on faltered romances, secret crushes and vibrating with the confidence that makes you feel like you're on fire. It's about taking comfort in knowing who you are, feeling yourself and returning, always, to the city of Melbourne.

Wicca Phase Springs Eternal is the creative persona of Scranton, PA singer, songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist Adam McIlwee. Stark transmissions of obsession, melancholia, and raw emotion compliment acoustic guitar and digital percussion as if Peter Murphy and Metro Boomin had been playing Ouija together. Beneath the deep 808's, moody synthesizers and cackling guitar, McIlwee's singular voice effectively resonates with a generation raised amidst the frenzied collage of modern digital expression. In 2015 Wicca Phase Springs Eternal co-founded Gothboiclique (GBC). Comprised of ten artists including Cold Hart, Horse Head, Lil Tracy, and eventually the late Lil Peep. With GBC's growing notoriety, Wicca Phase Springs Eternal simultaneously established himself as a singular voice, adeptly combining his natural songwriting instincts with the digital culture enveloping his world. Through an extensive catalog of collaborations, singles, EPs and 2016's Secret Boy LP, McIlwee has become a celebrated pioneer in this vital new direction of underground music. Along the way, he assembled what would become his 2019 Run For Cover Records debut, Suffer On, with the sonic bedrock evolving yet again as he re-embraces an initial vision. Suffer On is an exploration of familiar forms through the lens of something new and extraordinary. It is the first Wicca Phase record fully written by McIlwee, utilizing guitars and keyboards to create each song's core and building upwards from there. Themes of longing, entrapment and sacrifice permeate the album - the notion of wanting more and not getting it. Production and lyrics are both intentionally sparse and bleak, reinforcing such feelings and allowing room for the weighty moods to fill the sonic void. Lush acoustic guitar underscores the heavy emotionality of "Crushed" as he dissects a "natural anxiety about everything." Then, there's "Put Me In Graves." Ethereal synths shimmer above double-time drums as his cadence wavers between frenetic and danceable. Suffer On's title tra...

Repress. The first album recorded by someone other than the band themselves, Modern Baseball enlisted Joe Reinhart (Hop Along, Joyce Manor) at Headroom Studios in Philadelphia to help refine their sound on Holy Ghost. In a tight 28 minutes, Holy Ghost covers an impressive emotional range, with co-songwriters Jacob Ewald and Brendan Lukens literally splitting the record in half. The record kicks off with six songs from Ewald and ends with five from Lukens. What they ended up with was a complete record of the past two years- the highs alongside the lows, tales from the road and glorious days at home alongside songs of heartbreak and personal struggle.

Citizen returns with Life In Your Glass World, the band's fourth full-length album this August. Since forming in 2009 the band has undergone several different transformations - from the angsty adolescent catharsis of their Run For Cover Recordsdebut album Youth to the intense followup in 2015 Everybody is Going to Heaven, and even more recently with 2017's As You Please, an album that took Citizen's songwriting to new highs. Life In Your Glass World continues that metamorphosis - thearrangements, instrument tone and tempo from the first moments of album leadoff track "Death Dance Approximately" demonstrate a new way forward for Citizen's unique strand of modern alt-rock.

Clear w/ Pink Blue & Orange Vinyl. For Another Michael, it all boils down to trust. In mid-2017,the critically acclaimed indie three-piece packed their bagsand collectively relocated from Albany, NY to a shared housein West Philadelphia. This move signaled not only the start ofa new chapter for the trio, but also a deepening of the bondsthat would come to define their captivating debut LP, `NewMusic and Big Pop.'"It's hard for a group of people to get closer than livingtogether," says bassist and producer Nick Sebastiano. "Thestronger our connection grew, the more it shaped the musicwe found ourselves making." It should come as little surprise, then, that `New Music and Big Pop' is Another Michael's most collaborative work yet. Recorded in a small A-frame house-turned-makeshift studio outside Ferndale, NY, the record finds the trio pushing their sound in a dreamier, more folk-influenced direction, building songs around vulnerable, intimate performances using an ethereal palette of breezy guitars, subtle keyboards, and layered harmonies. As on the band's early EPs, singer and songwriter Michael Doherty's mesmerizing voice is front and center here, calling to mind Robin Pecknold or Ben Bridwell in its reedy, crystalline timbre, but it feels more at home than ever before amidst the album's lush, Technicolor landscape, which the band partnered with producer and fellow housemate Scoops Dardaris to create. The result is a masterfully understated record that belies its status as a full-length debut, a thoughtful, poetic, collection all about growth and change, hope and faith, endings and beginnings, delivered by a band that's only just begun to scratch the surface of their story.

It Is Hard To Imagine A More Timely Album Than `Mydata,' The Fourth Solo Release From The Melbourne-Based Pop Artist Katie Dey. Her Unique Sound, Which Blends Noisy Synths With Art-Pop Poetics, Has Felt Ahead Of The Curve, But In This Moment Of Quarantine-Strained Relationships And Touch-Starved Isolation, `Mydata' Feels Even More Prescient Than Ever."It's Pretty Explicitly About An Internet Relationship, Which Can Be Precisely As Meaningful As A Relationship That's Physical," Dey Says. "Because A Long Distance Relationship Is Obviously Physical Too, In A Sense. It's Physically Felt In The Body."Dey's Signature Sound, Which Has Been Grounded In The Digital Since Her 2015 Debut `Asdfasdf,' Is Perfect To Capture This Tension Between Absence And Presence--Or Perhaps Between Different Kinds Of Absences And Presences. With `Mydata' Though, Dey Develops The Sound That Drew Her Acclaim In Some New Directions, Contrasting Her Reverb- And Glitch-Filled Synths With Clearer, Brighter Sounds. Nowhere Is This New Focus On Blending And Contrasting Sounds Clearer Than In Her Vocals, Which Break Through The Layers Of Sound In A Way All Together New For Dey."As I Get Older And My Ideas Of How I Want To Present Myself Morph And Evolve, I Want More Clarity In Myself," She Says. "I Want To Be Heard And Understood, And I Want To Convey A Self That Isn't Misinterpreted As Much."It All Works To Underscore The Album's Focus On Data Loss, Translation, Distance, And Tentative Connection. When Noise Crumbles Around Her Full And Unafraid Vocals, She Feels At Home In The Buzzing Networks That Deliver Us To Each Other. And When Crisp Electronic Strings Emerge From The Mess, Dey's Voice Instead Insists On The Honesty Of Distortion. These Are Songs That Understand That Love Is The Thing That Happens When Something Starts To Break Just The Right Way, Like A Favorite Hair Tie Stretched A Little Too Far. "If I Could Be A Lightbulb," Dey Lilts On The Album's Metamorphical Opener, "I'd Explode The Moment You Install It."

Aptly Titled Two Worlds, Tigers Jaws Sophomore Full-Length Draws On The Strengths Of The Band's Raw, Minimalist Atmospheres And Driving Grunge-Rock Rhythms, Funneling Them Into A Catchy, Brooding And Brilliantly Focused Album. Sounding As Confident As Ever In Abandoning Dependence On Traditional Pop Structures, Songs Ebb And Flow Naturally As The Band Explores Fresh Tones And Textures. Firmly Planted In Their Own Niche Of The 90 S-Era Midwestern Emo Sound, Two Worlds Probes Superchunk's Indie-Punk Stylings, Weezer's Discordant Pop Moments And The Far Edges Of Kurt Cobain's Brain While Managing To Sound Almost Nothing Like Those Groups. Chimey Clean Guitars Weave In And Out Of The Mix, Juxtaposing A Gain Guitar Laden With Thick Grit. Standing Alone, The Tones Create Familiar Tigers Jaw Moods, But When Combined, The Effect Lays The Foundation For Swelling Walls Of Sound. Pulsing Bass Fills The Low End, Locked With The Drums In Rhythmic Unison, Alternately Tracing Guitar Lines And Stepping Forward To Grab The Listener S Car. Similarly, The Drumming Style Perfectly Compliments The Songwriting With Steady Beats And Measured Flash. Lush And Resonant Cymbal Splashes Constantly Flourish, Adding Color And A New Spaciousness. Keyboards Swell In A Wave Of Warmth Creating The Band S Defining Ambiance, In Parts Taking On More Adventurous Melodies And Chord Tones. At Its Core, Two Worlds Is A Tigers Jaw Album Through And Through. It Evokes Many Moods The Band Is Known For, But Adds A Depth That Will Leave Listeners Discovering New Reasons To Love Them With Each New Listen.

There is a closeness at the heart of Turnover's aptly titlednew album, `Altogether.' Though it's the first collection the trio has written while living on opposite coasts, the record actually represents the group's most collaborative and connected work to date, showcasing the intuitive, near-telepathic relationship frontman Austin Getz has developed over the years with his bandmates. Turnover first emerged roughly a decade ago in Virginia Beach, VA, but the group's critical and commercial breakthrough didn't arrive until six years later, when they cracked the Top 5 on the Billboard Heatseekers Chart with their acclaimed sophomore album, `Peripheral Vision.' The band _ which consists of Getz, his brother Casey on drums, and their childhood friend Danny Dempsey on bass_followed it up in 2017 with `Good Nature,' a streaming smash that racked up roughly 40 million plays on Spotify alone and which Vice proclaimed to be "their best album yet." `Altogether' demonstrates the band's eclectic mix of personalities from the very start, opening with a lo-fi, jazzy intro that quickly gives way to the driving drums and delay-drenched guitar of "Still In Motion." Like much of the album to come, the song is a meditation on change and perspective, on learning to quiet your mind and appreciate the moment before it's gone. The bittersweet "No Reply" reckons with guilt over failing to be present with a loved one, while the effervescent "Much After Feeling" recognizes the sacrifices we make to stay connected across geographical distance, and the breezy "Parties" grapples with the kind of self-consciousness that can leave us prisoners of our own design.

Vinyl LP pressing. For eighteen years, Philadelphia's mewithoutYou has been a banner name for fans across genres because of their kinetic and truly original style. On their latest [Untitled] Album, the band continues to create the same intensity that has captivated fans for almost two decades. The record was produced by Will Yip at nearby Studio 4, the same place where 2015's epic Pale Horses was tracked. While elements of the band's signature sound still remain, there are new aspects at work. Lead single "Julia (or, 'Holy To the LORD' on the Bells of Horses)" is an explosive slow-burner. Marked by a soaring guitar refrain that echoes throughout the first verse, vocalist Aaron Weiss' other-worldly lyrics are sung rather than shouted through his renown spoken-word style. As a whole the record moves like seasons - songs shift between chaos and intimacy, frailty and strength, cacophony and harmony with expert navigation.

Vinyl LP pressing. Ricky Eat Acid's first full length album Three Love Songs is a modern masterpiece for the Bandcamp era. The album was originally released in 2014 by Sam Ray, whose other projects include American Pleasure Club [FKA Teen Suicide], Julia Brown and Starry Cat. A departure from the indie and lo-fi leaning sounds of most of those bands, Ricky Eat Acid's first full-length release takes varying elements of all types of electronic music - ambient, drone, dance, house, and more - and infuses them with Ray's authentic and hyper-personal songwriting to create a truly unique record. This reissue of Three Love Songs marks the first time the record has been available on vinyl in years.

PINEGROVE / CARDINAL - vinyl LP - After a number of different releases and years of touring, Montclair, New Jersey's Pinegrove have offered their finest work to date with their newest LP, Cardinal. The band's captivating blend of indie rock, pop and country elements is more vivid, fine-tuned, and addictive than ever before. Vocalist/guitarist Evan Stephens Hall along with brothers Zack Levine (drums) and Nick Levine (guitar) form a core that has been playing together since early childhood. Painting his emotions onto these songs with colorful and kinetic strokes, Hall moves through Cardinal's eight songs with unforgettable energy and passion, with a vocal performance that is pleasantly reminiscent of Will Oldham and Built to Spill's Doug Martsch. Highlighted by the downtrodden nostalgia of twangy opener "Old Friends" and the climactic refrain of "Size of the Moon," where the confession "I don't know what I'm afraid of," is just as much of a sing-a-long as it is an emotional breakdown, moods don't stay in one place for very long on Cardinal - they are carefully crafted and revisited throughout to continually evoke the album's central themes of memory, language, and home.

(LP + MP3) West Orange, NJ's GDP takes a step back from the pulsing, futuristic grime of 2011's Useless Eaters' and answers with a contemplative, sullen break up album full of jazzy, lounge-y samples, and cinematic, orchestral interludes. Peppered with his signature barbed couplets and brash, vulgar sex-and-drugs vignettes, Holla plays as a stream of consciousness running through the loneliness one feels in the absence of another. For fans of Odd Future, Wu-Tang, RZA, & Frank Ocean. 150 copies only on black vinyl with download codes.

Armlock's debut album Trust made waves on its original release in 2021, offering a peak into the sonic landscape that the Australian duo of Simon Lam and Hamish Mitchell were building together. A collection of intimate, lush sounds that feel both hauntingly personal and infinitely deep, Trust's seven songs are now available for worldwide release on Run For Cover Records.Armlock's music is immediately striking. Even before you press play, Trust's haunting artwork - a flash photo closeup of an eyeball feels like it conveys the message of these songs perfectly: armlock is staring into your soul. Simon Lam's vocals are errantly mumbled melodies, placed directly in front of you at the center of these electronic dispatches that border the lines of indie rock and electronic music. These songs feel expansive, emotional and considered in a way that make Alex G, Boards of Canada and Adrianne Lenker points of comparison.Featuring seven songs on the A-Side and an etched-back, Trust is a short but full collection of songs that lead perfectly into their 2024 follow-up Seashell Angel Lucky Charm, also available now on Run For Cover.

Pedals is the second studio album from post-hardcore band Rival Schools, released 10 years after their debut record United by Fate was first released. Pedals was recorded by the entire original cast, whom were seen as a tremendous influence within the post-hardcore movement. Where United by Fate was an album often ready to burst at the seams with energy, Pedals shows a more matured and controlled feel, even somewhat experimental at moments with bass tones and frequent use of acoustic guitars and distortion effects.Much like the 2022 reissue of Rival School's first LP, this reissue features packaging updates curated specifically by the band to create the definitive version of this record. The album's artwork has been updated with new gatefold packaging and a slip-case cover along with an updated set of lyrics and liner notes. In addition to all ten original tracks, the second disc of this edition includes three b-sides and four live tracks.
