Woo-hoo! Two of the best Italian rare grooves ever are finally back on 7’’ for the first time since their original French release on the format! Both are from that most iconic film soundtrack of the Italian 70s (the LP is now a holy grail for collectors), Armando Trovajoli’s score to Dino Risi’s anthology sex comedy Sessomatto (1973) starring Laura Antonelli and Giancarlo Giannini. In the title track the influence of Manu Dibango’s afro-funk hit “Soul Makossa” is filtered through, and enriched by, an exquisitely Italian approach, with a sweet ’n’ groovy funk base (the terrific mid-song drum break has been a DJ favorite for decades) over which Edda Dell’Orso seductively laughs and repeats the words ‘sesso’ and ‘matto’ again and again. The wild and fun electronic samba “Kinky Peanuts” on side B is a wonderful example of ‘strange incredible music’, with infectiously quirky Moog themes and runs.

Generally with “La Ciociara” (internationally known as “Two Women”) one refers to Vittorio De Sica’s 1960 masterpiece; few people know that, at the end of the 80s, a remake was made in the form of a 2-episode television miniseries which, in addition to the story obviously, has two other elements in common with the original film: the presence of Sophia Loren as the leading actress and Armando Trovajoli as the author of the soundtrack (the original recording sessions seem to have been lost forever). Although it was composed in the 80s, this version of the score is not affected at all by the trending sounds of the time, and is in fact entirely based - with the exception of the short “Clock Curiosity” divertissement - on various orchestral and symphonic pieces, perfect for the historical period - during the World War II - in which the story of “La Ciociara” is set. The presence of Sophia Loren herself on vocals in three compositions, two sung in English - “A Word of Love” and “Somewhere a Dream” - and one in Neapolitan dialect - the final track “Ma Dio Addo’ Sta” - makes this work even more special and unique.

Finally the first official vinyl reissue of the original Trovajoli soundtrack. Originally dated 1968 this is possibly one of the greatest Italian cult “road” movie of all times ! Composed by Maestro Armando Trovajoli and featuring Alessandro Alessandroni Cantori Moderni, this is a glorious mix of visionary epic sounds for a thrilling trip through exotic Africa. The plot of this film was in fact located in Angola, then a Portuguese colony. So, by poetic license, the music is heavily influenced by Brazilian rhythms. One of the highlights of the record surely is "Angola Adeus" with Cantori Moderni and mysterious drums added. A piece of music which conjure the sense of adventure and wide spaces.

Another exciting chapter in the Four Flies jazz series, this is the first full-album release of the long-forgotten soundtrack composed by Armando Trovajoli for Piero Vivarelli’s 1964 movie Il Vuoto. Here, elegant and nocturnal cool jazz alternates with more rhythm-oriented tracks influenced by groovy Brazilian vibes and raw rock’n’roll. All tracks are performed by a sextet featuring Trovajoli himself on piano, Carlo Zoffoli on vibraphone, Gino Marinacci on baritone sax and flute, Enzo Grillini on electric guitar, Berto Pisano on double bass, and Sergio Conti on drums and percussion. Finally rescued from the historical archives of CAM, this exquisite soundtrack offers a special insight not only into the history of Italian jazz, but also into the penetration of the genre into Italian film music.

Armando Trovajoli composed and directed a brilliant lounge-style soundtrack based on the main theme. It is introduced in the opening credits and sung by Mal dei Primivites on track1, and is then reprised with captivating instrumental arrangements. For the four protagonists, Maestro Trovajoli composed a jazz motif with a spylike atmosphere. Armando Trovajoli performs the scat singing with an airy piece using organ and tempo and performs the main theme on the piano. For this LP we were able to use the mono tapes from the recording session.
Directed in 1967 by Luigi Zampa. Starring Ursula Andress, Claudine Auger, Virna Lisi, Marisa Mell, Mario Adorf, Franco Fabrizi, Margherita Guzzinati, Brett Halsey, Marco Guglielmi, Nello Pazzafini, Luciano Salce, Giovanni Ivan Scratuglia, Lando Buzzanca, Vittorio Caprioli, Fred Williams, Frank Wolff, Lia Zoppelli, Jean-Pierre Cassel.

Presenting one of the greatest works by maestro Armando Trovajoli; a solid Italian easy listening masterpiece. After its commercial debut in 1968 as an original soundtrack of famous Italian TV-movie, this record gained renewed interest in the 1990s when four tracks were compiled in the immortal Easy Tempo series. From then on, La Famiglia Benvenuti has not only been considered of Trovajoli’s most sought after records, but has achieved the status of being the manifesto of the Roman swinging sixties - a lively addition to the delightfully cool sounds of the late 1960s, made possible by the following key ingredients: the Marc 4 sound (a steady presence for almost every Trovajoli recording); the outstanding I Cantor i Moderni di Alessandroni, with their unmistakable vocal harmonies; and lastly, the eccentric use of the harpsichord (a signature of Trovajol i ' s spaghetti soundtracks of the period). Behold a brilliant cocktail of groovy bossa, terrific shake, catchy tunes, and pop songs, as the amazing La Decisione, sung by Donatella Luttazzi, daughter of the great Lelio.
An absolute must-have for any serious soundtrack collector, and reissued here on vinyl for the very first time!
