Robb Weir, Tygers of Pan Tang founder and keeper of the flame, was at a cross roads. He had tried to keep the Tygers alive with differing lineups but now he was in the position of seeing his hopes dissolve completely as the band were unable to find just the right vocalist. He was determined to give it one more chance and the band cast around for a new front man. He knew that this was possibly his last chance. Enter Jack Meille, resident of Florence and possessor of a set of pipes that could notonly do justice to the Tygers back catalogue, but crucially, create the hard rock melodies essential to the band’s sound for the future.There was always something about that original release though that bothered the band: the sleeve. It was felt that it didn’t do the band justice. Step in Andy Pilkington, responsible for the last two Tygers albums’ covers. He was asked to create a cover that would sit happily alongside the quality seen in other Tygersalbum sleeves. They also felt that the sound required a new mix and called upon the services of trusted friend and producer Marco Angioni to add the necessary sheen to an already fine sounding album. Mighty Music are proud to announce the release of a live album by the TYGERS OF PAN TANG, to be called “Live Blood”. Stalwarts of the NWOBHM,the Tygers are currently celebrating eight years with Mighty Music during which time they have released three well received new albums, the mostrecent of which “Bloodlines”, was met with universal critical acclaim in 2023. The band, with guitarist Robb Weir at the helm, along with long-servingmembers Jack Meille (vocals) and Craig Ellis (drums), includes their two new recruits for “Bloodlines”: guitarist Francesco Marras and bass player HuwHolding. “Live Blood” includes material from across the band’s career, including songs from their first four albums with MCA Records plus their lastfour albums of new material. Jack Meille comments: “Recording a live album after all this time with the Tygers? Transparent Orange Vinyl, limited to 500 copies. The Tygers of Pan Tang were one of the foremost New Wave of British Heavy Metal Bands and they hit the album charts running when their 1980 debut album Wildcat reached #18 in the UK charts. After three further albums with MCA, they recorded this album for Zebra Records in 1987. Burning in the Shade is the most melodic of their releases and features the line-up of Jon Deverill (vocals), Steve Lamb (guitar), Brian Dick (drums) with guests Steve Thompson and Phil Caffrey.
