LIMITED EDITION OF 750 COPIES ON BLACK/CLEAR VINYL!It's a brand NEW Lurkers single.The Lurkers formed late in 1976, the original lineup consisting of Pete Stride on Guitar, Pete `'Manic Esso' Haynes' on Drums, Nigel Moore on Bass and Howard Wall on Vocals.In the 2010's, Esso, Stride and Moore have been collaborating again under the name of The Lurkers : God's Lonely Men and released a album in 2012 entitled Chemical Landslide which contained tracks considered a lot heavier than anything they had previously recorded under the Lurkers name.In 2016 they released a further album `The Future's Calling' and then collaborated on follow-up material with The Featherz' lead singer Danie Centric.The first fruits of the collaboration with Danie was the `High Velocity` EP, was released in late 2017 as a limited edition pink vinyl 7" on Human Punk/Damaged Goods.The Lurkers have since been recording more new material with Pete Stride and guest vocalist Danie Centric sharing lead vocal duties, the first fruits of which being this brand new 7", limited to 750 copies on split black / clear vinyl.We asked Pete Stride about the new tracks -`Electrical Guitar' started out as being slightly tongue in cheek, but I came to realise that it can also be seen as a direct statement of belief in the essence of rock `n' roll - 4 beats to a bar, electrical guitar, sometimes that's all you need!`That Was Julia' is a rather more dark proposition, a tale of thwarted love and obsession, given a bit of a sapphic twist due to Danie's vocal."There's talk of a new full album later in 2019 too, keep 'em peeled!

A live recording from 1977! First time on vinyl!"It was 1977 and things were progressing extremely well. We had signed to Beggars Banquet and our first single `Shadow' b/w `Love Story' had been released. John Peel had been playing both sides of the single most nights on his radio show, so we were getting heard by a lot of people. But we didn't yet have a "proper" tour bus, so we all piled into a transit for the trip down to Margate with our tour manager Mike Stone in the driving seat. The Queens Hotel turned out to be a pretty good venue. There was a nice high stage which we much preferred over the low-slung platforms of some of the places we played. It meant that the crowd wasn't totally swamping us the whole time, although there would still be a constant stream of people jumping on and off stage, bumping us, knocking equipment over and so forth. We weren't sure if many people would turn up on a cold and windy night so close to Christmas, but it was a good turnout, and they were out for a good time too. There was none of the aggro stuff which would become a problem later on at our shows. The actual gig was typical of a Lurkers show at that time, being fairly chaotic with a lot of crowd "interaction". There is a recklessly fast version of `Pills' on the recording, and I think we were playing `It's Quiet Here' for the first time live. Howard was on good form too; it would be his birthday on Christmas Day. My favourite quip from him is towards the end of the show when he says "eat your heart out Hank Marvin" after one of my more eccentric Shadows guitar intros." - PETE STRIDE 2022
