Cult Never Dies is proud to announce its partnership with Decrepid, the very first death metal band to release music with the underground metal publishing house and label! Based in London but with an international line-up, Decrepid first surfaced in the late 2000s, and eschewed the sterile and technical direction the genre was taking in favour of unapologetically aggressive and passionately morbid death metal, full of pummelling percussion, inhuman vocals and dirty, malevolent riffing. The band officially debuted in 2011 with the Devoted To Death album and quickly won an underground following, appealing to fans of well-written old-school death metal and vital acts like Dismember, Bolt Thrower, and Suffocation. Impressing industry legend Dave Rotten of Avulsed, the band was soon signed to his iconic label Xtreem Music, the product of this unholy union being 2015 opus Osseous Empire, and its devastating 2020 follow-up Endless Sea of Graves, both created with the help of respected producer Greg Chandler of Esoteric. The group has spent the intervening years touring with the likes of Krisiun and Nile and crafting new material. Now, they present the results: a crushing four-song EP entitled Lust for Death. “Imposing, righteously commanding, atmospheric and truly memorable,” said Ave Noctum in their 9/10 review of Heathen Deity’s 2021 debut album, an opus that also earned glowing reviews in the likes of Decibel magazine and This is Black Metal. Due to be unleashed in late November 2024, Satan’s Kingdom picks up where that opus finished, offering an equally intense assault, but introducing an even greater level of musicianship and performance, as well as more sophisticated songwriting. An hour in length, it is a dynamic work that contains moments of absolutely frenzied black metal bombardment ala early Gorgoroth, as well as more epic, earnest and atmospheric numbers. Clean guitars and vocal parts are used selectively and effectively, with surprisingly rousing choruses surfacing from the visceral songs. ‘Uncompromising’ can often mean generic, but Heathen Deity continue to fly the flag for aggressive and anti-religious black metal without ever being derivative. The songwriting shines, with an abundance of genuinely memorable riffs and stirring passages. Artwork once again created by our longtime comrade, the talented David Thiérrée.
