Lux Interior, Poison Ivy, and company captured live in their adopted hometown of New York City, shortly before the release of their debut album, 'Songs The Lord Taught Us', and at the height of their rockabilly-punk powers. Ripping thought 13 cuts including some choice covers, this is the best example available of one of the best live bands in punk history.

Reissue of this album from the mutant primal Rock 'n' Roll dynamos. Originally planned for 1985 to join in the onslaught of Elvis's 50th Anniversary commemorative reissues, a DATE WITH ELVIS came out in early 1986 in Europe only, where it went on to sell more than 200,000 copies. The only album featuring The Cramps as a three-piece band (Poison Ivy doubled on bass), it careens from the sociopathic advice of 'People Ain't No Good' (later covered by Nick Cave) to mindon vacation odes like 'Aloha from Hell' and 'Kizmiaz' (where The Cramps prove they were exotic when exotic wasn't cool), in the process offing more paeans to poontang than you can shake a snake at and fittingly finishing off with a soulful lovesick cover of Charlie Feathers' 'It's Just That Song.' 'Can Your Pussy Do the Dog' was voted single of the year for 1986 in Playboy's annual music issue! Continuing in the tortured tradition of stark rockabilly ballads, three of the bonus tracks - 'Blue Moon Baby,' 'Georgia Lee Brown' and Andy Starr's frighteningly horny 'Give Me a Woman' - were originally available only as rare B-sides.

1986 LIVE FM BROADCAST ON WHITE VINYL 2LP + BONUS INTERVIEW WITH LUXFormed in 1976 and active until 2009, The Cramps only called it a day after the death of mainstay Lux Interior who, along with wife and musical partner Poison Ivy, were the only permanent members of the group. Indeed it was the Interior/Ivy partnership which provided the impetus, inspiration and drive for the entire Cramps ethos and body of work. Cramps personnel would otherwise rotate much over their existence, although the addition of guitarist Bryan Gregory and drummer Pam Ballam in 1976 resulted in the first complete line-up.The gig presented here, from a live FM Radio Broadcast and so in the finest quality possible, presented on limited edition white vinyl 2LP, features a good splattering of tracks from A Date With Elvis, alongside a number of Cramps fave-raves and a good helping of cover versions - most interesting of which is rockabilly legend Charlie Feathers It's Just That Song, the number that finishes the album but which has rarely been performed live by the band. A few years back someone released a 10″ boxset comprising of a box, badge, poster and a 10″ lathe cut EP with just 6 tracks taken from the set played at Pukkelpop Festival in Belgium (Aug 26th 1990).

You didn’t get much in the way of music for your hard earned €’s, £’s or $’s….And it was claimed that there were only 10 (?) set’s made.

What you get here is basically the full gig with a great sound pressed on 200 grm coloured vinyl and housed in a high quality, heavy guage sleeve with a beautiful glossy finish. No hand numbering, you can put your own number in up to 100 although it seems 200 have been pressed and what’s more it comes with a fab poster, identical to the poster in the box set !

We’re told only 200 of these were pressed (although a bunch in black no doubt) and we have a couple of boxes coming…As usual it’s a case of 1st come, 1st served.
