The brand was established in 1989 by Dave Lane and Jeremy Guard under the name Rock Solid to realize their ideas of highly functional climbing equipment. Soon after, Lane sold his holdings of the company to silent partners. In 1991, Jeremy Guard changed the company’s name to Arc’teryx to reflect the brand’s vision to take the outdoor industry to the next level. The current goal of Arc’teryx is to use the best materials and develop high-quality, long-lasting products, accompanied by the philosophy of meeting the dependency on the environment with the utmost respect. Driven by design, community, science and passion, Arc’teryx is committed to halving its environmental footprint while increasing its positive impact on the social component of the production chain.
