New album from De Press! Andrej Nebb, who celebrated his 70th birthday with a spectacular gig at Oslo’s Rockefeller Music Hall last year, is still as prolific and creative as ever. “On this album, I draw inspiration from our history in the 20th century in the Tatra Mountains. The Tatra Mountains are located in Polish and Slovak territory close to the city of Zakopane. In those mountains rebels fought, led by Janosik, who took from the rich and gave to the poor. He was eventually caught and executed. The execution was very painful with a hook inserted under a rib and hoisted onto a wooden log. Poland as a country has had a tragic fate - Conquered from west and east, sometimes without existing on any map. During World War II, Germany took and burned down and destroyed all of Poland, and stole a lot of Polish art and other valuables that still haven't returned.. I write about it in a song called Reperacje. In another song called Narvik, I write about the allies who fought against Nazi Germany in Norway. I also like to address social problems from today, the songs Lover lover and Det blir lov have content about that. Man as an individual has difficulty adapting to the systems that authoritarian powers use in various forms. But there are also funny songs on the record such as Bede Cie or Nie pude nie bedym which describe relationships between men and women. This time I am motivated by heavier music. It may be that I am inspired by my youth as a musician when I escaped from Poland to the West.
