Illadelph Halflife is the third studio album by the legendary hip-hop group The Roots, released on September 24, 1996. On August 23, 2024, Andreas Dorau's 1994 album "Neu!" will be released in an exclusive "30th Anniversary" edition - for the first time as a yellow double vinyl, strictly limited to 500 copies and signed by the artist himself. It also includes two B-sides ("Meine Lieder (Musik wird wahr)" and "Von Siemens nach Telefunken") as well as two unpublished remixes that Mike Ink alias Wolfgang Voigt brought out of the basement especially for him and that were not released at the time. The double LP is rounded off with two remixes of "Komm wieder". The gatefold cover contains new liner notes by Hans Nieswandt. Each edition is hand-signed by Andreas Dorau. If you want, come to the HHV Store on August 30, 2024, where Andreas Dorau will celebrate the release of this record. There he will be happy to add a dedication to the signature.

“Neu!” was, from today’s perspective, a flawless 90s record. That this decade of innocent and still very fresh rave fun would become something completely legendary, a real place of longing that generation after generation of rave kids have fantasized about again and again since then, perhaps more so today than ever before – none of this was foreseeable in ’94.

“Neu!” is, thirty years later, as fresh and current as the decade from which this record comes, which in a certain sense never ended. “Elliott Smith” is the second studio album by American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith.
Steven Paul "Elliott" Smith (1969 –2003) was an American singer, songwriter, and musician. In 2003, aged 34, he died in Los Angeles, California, from two stab wounds to the chest. The autopsy evidence was inconclusive as to whether the wounds were self-inflicted. At the time of his death, Smith was working on his sixth studio album, “From a Basement on the Hill”, which was posthumously completed and released in 2004.

"Roman Candle" is the debut studio album by American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith.

This year marks the tenth anniversary of the theatrical release of Universal Pictures' Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. The film adaptation by director Edgar Wright (Hot Fuzz, Baby Driver) of Bryan Lee O'Malley's graphic novel series stars Michael Cera, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Kieran Culkin and has since become a cult classic.Now ABKCO, with Edgar Wright and Nigel Godrich's oversight, has curated an expanded, four LP picture disc Seven Evil Exes Edition offering of the soundtrack/score, including more performances by Sex Bob- Omb and demos from Beck, as well as fan-favorite "Black Sheep" by Metric and sung by actress Brie Larson. The set is slated for release on March 26.Each side of each LP features an image of one of the "Seven Evil Exes" from the film, plus an image of Scott Pilgrim and Ramona Flowers on the eighth side. This marks the first time ever that Godrich's score will get a vinyl release, which will also be available separately on a blue vinyl 2-LP set, also on March 26.Scott Pilgrim vs. the World finds Cera's character smitten by Ramona Flowers (Winstead) and having to battle her seven evil exes who are out to kill him. Interwoven into the plot is a plethora of fictitious music groups acting out the performances of original compositions by real recording artists. Under the direction of producer Godrich (Radiohead, Paul McCartney, U2), Beck provided the music for Scott's low-fi garage band Sex Bob-Omb, Canadian synth-rockers Metric did the same for The Clash at Demonhead (fronted by Brie Larson), Broken Social Scene wrote and recorded for Crash and the Boys, and faux DJ duo Katayanagi Twins were brought to life by Cornelius. In some cases, the finished songs incorporate actual vocal and instrumental contributions from the actors who appear in the film.Wright and Godrich worked together for a two-year period, during which they essentially cast ultimate fantasy bands and got non-musician actors to learn their respective instruments with the aid of Chris Murphy from the band Sloan. The original soundtrack, which went to #2 on the Billboard soundtrack chart, also includes songs by Frank Black, Beachwood Sparks, Black Lips, T. “Figure 8” is the fifth studio album by American singer-songwriter Elliott Smith, and the final album he completed before his death.

Steven Paul "Elliott" Smith (1969 –2003) was an American singer, songwriter, and musician. Smith was born in Omaha, Nebraska, raised primarily in Texas, and lived for much of his life in Portland, Oregon, where he first gained popularity. Smith's primary instrument was the guitar, though he was also proficient with piano, clarinet, bass guitar, drums, and harmonica. Smith had a distinctive vocal style, characterized by his "whispery, spiderweb-thin delivery", and used multi-tracking to create vocal layers, textures, and harmonies.

Smith began his solo career in 1994, with releases on the independent record labels Cavity Search and Kill Rock Stars (KRS). In 1997, he signed a contract with DreamWorks Records, for which he recorded two albums. Smith rose to mainstream prominence when his song "Miss Misery"—included in the soundtrack for the film Good Will Hunting (1997)—was nominated for an Oscar in the Best Original Song category in 1998.

Smith had trouble with alcohol and other drugs throughout his life, while suffering from depression, and these topics often appear in his lyrics. In 2003, aged 34, he died in Los Angeles, California, from two stab wounds to the chest. The autopsy evidence was inconclusive as to whether the wounds were self-inflicted. At the time of his death, Smith was working on his sixth studio album, “From a Basement on the Hill”, which was posthumously completed and released in 2004.

“The Idiot” is the debut solo album by American rock singer Iggy Pop. It was the first of two LPs released in 1977 which Pop wrote and recorded in collaboration with David Bowie. Drawing on the electronic sounds of German groups such as Kraftwerk, “The Idiot” is a departure from the hard rock of Pop's former band the Stooges, and has been compared to Bowie's contemporaneous "Berlin Trilogy" of albums in its treated instrument sounds and introspective atmosphere. Sessions for the album were begun prior to the recording of Bowie's Low (1977), and “The Idiot” has thus been called the unofficial beginning of Bowie's Berlin period.

Yeats poem ‘The Second Coming,’ was art directed by the legendary Kenny Gravillis, who chose five different designs for the cover; each one is a striking image that represents moments in history when humanity was at a breaking point. Things Fall Apart is widely considered The Legendary Roots Crew most ambitious masterpiece. The album features urban legends Erykah Badu, Common, Mos Def, and more.

Things Fall Apart is the fourth studio album by The Roots, released on February 23, 1999. Widely regarded as one of the group’s masterpieces, the album helped solidify The Roots' position as one of the most important and innovative acts in hip-hop. Its title is a reference to the classic 1958 novel "Things Fall Apart" by Chinua Achebe, which explores themes of societal disruption and cultural conflict.

The album was released at a pivotal moment in hip-hop, during the late '90s “conscious rap” movement, and addresses a wide range of social, political, and personal issues, including racism, violence, love, and the commercialization of hip-hop.

Questlove's drumming provides the backbone of the album’s live instrumentation, with a laid-back, jazzy feel, while Black Thought's rap style delivers hard-hitting, reflective, and often politically charged lyrics.
The album also features collaborations with notable artists from the Soulquarians collective, including Erykah Badu, Common, D’Angelo, Mos Def (Yasiin Bey), and Jill Scott (though Scott was replaced by Erykah Badu on the album's hit single "You Got Me").
