Extensive touring throughout 2001 and 2002 supported Lateralus and included a personal highlight for the band; a 10-show joint mini-tour with King Crimson in August ‘01. Comparisons between the two were made, MTV describing the bands as "the once and future kings of progressive rock". Maynard James Keenan stated of the mini-tour "For me, being on stage with King Crimson is like Lenny Kravitz playing with Led Zeppelin, or Britney Spears onstage with Debbie Gibson".On 21st July 2001, Tool performed at the Pepsi Center in Denver CO, where they played one of the tour’s finest dates, which was recorded for live FM radio broadcast. DYNAMIC 2000 JIMMY PAGE & BLACK CROWES SHOW FROM NEW YORKIn October 1999, the Black Crowes were joined by Led Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page for two pairs of shows in New York and Los Angeles, and also at the Centrum Centre in Worcester, Massachusetts, yielding a live release, Live at the Greek on TVT Records. Due to contractual issues with Columbia, Live at the Greek did not feature any of the Black Crowes' songs performed with Page. The collaboration led to a more extensive tour with Page and The Who in summer 2000.On 10th July 2000, the entourage performed at the Jones Beach Theater in Wantagh, New York, for what would turn out to be quite probably the best show of the tour. Featuring a superb set-list featuring no less than sixteen Led Zep classics, alongside a few Black Crowes numbers and a couple of old blues covers, this concert remains a huge favourite among fans of both the Crowes and indeed the mighty Led Zeppelin.Now featured in its entirety on this new two-instalment set, this recording, taken from an FM Broadcast of the gig, is available for all to hear and to own. STUNNING TEARS FOR FEARS BROADCAST FROM 1985British synth-pop duo Tears For Fears, featuring Roland Orzabal and Curt Smith, were enjoying life at the top of the charts when they made this live recording for the King Biscuit Flower Hour in June of 1985. Their successful sophomore album, Songs from the Big Chair, had just been released and it was on the promotional tour that they played this lively set at London’s prestigious Hammersmith Odeon. This show contains the strongest material from their debut album, The Hurting, as well as new material off their recent release, which was riding up the charts at the time. This concert is a testament to the new wave aesthetic embodied by Tears for Fears in the mid-'80s, and this is a showcase set of the band at near perfection. Orzabal and Smith were already press darlings in the U.K., deeply embraced by BBC Radio 1, so the audience is receptive to them and is familiar with the material. EXCEPTIONAL 1973 BROADCAST FROM VAN MORRISONThe Lion's Share broadcast from San Anselmo, CA, recorded for live transmission by KPFA FM Berkely is one of the great treasures prized by Van Morrison collectors. Featuring early and late shows, the broadcasts of both sets only reached the San Francisco Bay area, which on the night of the concert, 15th February 1973, was rocked by a winter storm, limiting the reach even further.Performing cuts from, what was at the time, his most recent studio album, St. Dominic’s Preview, and from the yet to be released, Hard Nose The Highway, Van also peppered both set with numbers from Moondance, His Band & The Street Choir and Tupelo Honey. Covers were present-a-plenty too, with the first set beginning with evergreen, ‘Since I Fell For You’, and penultimately featuring a one-time performance of Fred Neil’s ‘Everybody’s Talking’. Hank Williams ‘Hey Good Looking’ gets an airing as well. Set two has versions of Johnny Mathis’s ‘Misty’, ‘The White Cliffs Of Dover’ and Willie Dixons, ‘I Just Want To Make Love To You’.The two sets have not previously been available on vinyl but this new two-instalment set changes that as it now features both early and late shows of this rarely heard 1973 concert.
