When two best friends start a band, songs get filled with inside jokes. In My Head takes the listener on a journey of Andreya Casablanca and Laura Lee's friendship, their life, and a step further into the world of GURR. Having met in an American Studies class in Berlin, and after spending time in the US together, the US West coast sound was an obvious influence on their music, but Andreya and Laura draw from a wide set of pop culture references and personal experiences for their debut album. How to deal with one's own ignorance (first single release Moby Dick), let yourself go and have nights that turn into mornings (Breathless), or deal with the loss of love through someone else's perspective (Yosemite). Instead of telling stories of how it was, the two friends want to create a world of characters, stories and feelings everyone can relate to and everyone can tell in their head for themselves. First Wave Gurrlcore they call their own genre, always with a slight and acknowledging nod to riot girl culture and yet stressing that they want to invent their own style they pair straightforward garage rock tunes with more psychedelic and wave elements on their debut album. "We didn't start making music because of Kathleen Hanna," explains singer Andreya Casablanca. "Musically we were more influenced by bands like Gun Club, Echo & the Bunnymen, the B52s or classics like the Ramones and Beatles."

We are very happy to announce the release of "I'Melting" the debut album from Crystal Glass Hailing from Essen in West Germany, Crystal Glass is the moniker of Marvin Andrä. Marvin was first introduced at the young age of 4 to making music when his father bought him a drumkit for christmas, growing up at school Marvin played in various music projects but in 2021 in his early 20s Marvin began Crystal Glass as his project for his own songs he had been writing. After self releasing a few singles Crystal Glass came to the attention of Duchess Box Records, who had only released Berlin based acts before this including the likes of Gurr, Sofia Portanet, Thala, Shybits etc. Influenced by song writers such as Damon Albarn, Keven Parker and Louis Cole, Crystal Glass have developed a dreamy psychedelic indie sound that also can also at time make you wanna tap your feet and shake your hips. Marvin wrote and recorded the entire album in his bedroom studio and at their rehearsal room in Essen. "Every single song deals with a different phase in my life from the past years. The brother sister duo originally from Argentina and now one half residing in London (Alicia) and one half in Berlin (Francisco) recorded their album at Berlin's Impression Studio with producer Robbie Moore who has also recently worked with the likes of Florence and the Machine. Minimal Schlager begun in 2020 during the pandemic and though they were only allowed to perform a handful of limited capicity shows decided to focus much of their energy writing and recording. After being approached by Duchess Box Records after a mutual friend had passed on some demos to them, they promptly offered an album deal, but Minimal Schlager first went on to release their EP debut EP Voodoo Eyes which brought about some critical success in the international media. Minimal Schlagers synth heavy sound, layered with dreamy vocal pop wouldn't sound out of place on any David Lynch soundtrack with tracks like Forbidden Fruit and Before, but there are also club songs like Euphoria on the album which shows what a dynamically written album this is. Love Sex & Dreams is exactly what is written on the can. 2022 has seen the band performing in the USA for the first time for showcases at Sxsw festival as well as shows in London, Paris and Berlin and plans for an international tour at the end of 2022 in support of the release of their debut album The album will be released with a limited edition red vinyl.

Joanna Gemma Auguri is a Berlin musician, songwriter and actress. In the various stages ofher musical solo and band projects, she incorporates influences from folk, ambient andavant-garde music.Being five years old she escaped with her parents from Poland, which was under martial law,and had to learn at an early age what uprooting means. This experience is reflected in her music as an expression of personal sadness, compassion, but also despair about the state of the world.2021 she released her solo debut "11" on her own label Lavender Music. It was mainly characterized by accordion, zitherand her vocals. Her new album "Hiraeth" was recorded at Candy Bomber Studios in Berlin by Ingo Krauss, with a large number of musicians. Besides choir, double bass, lap steel guitar, drums, cello, horns , different organs and keyboards her original instruments accordion and zither still shine through from time to time. Joanna's voice sits unmistakable on top of the majestic,nearly monumental compositions which despite their richness always stay basic and delicate. "Hiraeth" is an untranslatable Welsh word that describes the longing for a home, a place or a feeling that no longer exists or never existed.

Berlin's Hello Pity release their forthcoming debut album "Naked" on limited edition Crystal Clear vinyl and digitally via Duchess Box Records on Friday 13th October.

The Berlin post punk band Hello Pity have been collaborating this year with acts such as The KVB and Anika on remixes of tracks such as An Idea Of Guilt and Ms45 which appear on the album.

Naked was recorded in Berlin at the studio of Leonard Kaage, the guitarist from The Underground Youth.

Hello Pity are masters of atmosphere and Naked gives us a dystopian love album which complete with twisted elements of hate.

The band made from Colin (vocal, guitar), Gael, (vocal, guitar), Jonas (bass) and Max (drums) have been performing around berlin at 8MM, Loophole scene since 2019 and performed two shows at Synasthesie Festival before coming to the attention of Duchess Box Records.

Birgit Jones release their new album "Birgit Jones And The Desperate Cry For Fame" on 30th June,, Birgit Jones the all girl rock trio from Berlin offers gives us some tongue-in-cheek lyrics, bombastic basses and rocky riffs that break the chains of alternative rock and mark the birth of post-glam doom.

While namesake Bridget Jones - Helen Fielding's clumsy novel heroine - prefers chocolate for breakfast, Birgit Jones prefers to enjoy a strong whiskey sour late at night.

The band was formed in 2018 when musicians Kristin (bass), Rike (vocals) and Nathalie (drums) gave their common alter-ego a name. Birgit Jones was born: a woman who doesn't mince words and demands uncompromisingly what is due to her.

Lobsterbomb announce the release of their debut album "Look Out" for 21st July 2023 via Duchess Box Records. Formed in Berlin, via an instagram notice board "We Formed A Band" set up by the band Gurr, Lobsterbomb had no idea at the time it would lead to them signing to the label that discovered Gurr, Duchess Box Records. The Trio Nico Rosch, Vik Chi and Crayon Jones all immigrated to Berlin looking for the same escape and lust from the places they had left behind. After connecting with eachother during the pandemic of 2020 they started writing songs drawing on their environment, fears and frustrations of the time but had an desire for seizing the moment and making the world their own, a feeling they still have today.. "I have a bit of an obsession with a band from Germany called Lobsterbomb, I think they are magnificent" says legendary Duran Duran frontman Simon Le Bon on his American radio show on Sirius XM.
