If it's true that listening to just the right record at just the right moment can psychically transport you to some other time and place, then Charly Bliss - an NYC band responsible for having crafted some of the finest guitar-crunched power pop this side of an old Weezer record with a blue cover - can pretty much turn any space into an adult-friendly version of your old teenage bedroom, a candy-scented safe space for extreme fits of happiness and angsty teen-level explosions of romantic ennui. The ten tracks that make up Guppy, Charly Bliss' sparking full-length debut, show the band embracing all of their strengths - a combination of ripping guitars and irrepressible pop hooks, all delivered with the hyper-enthusiasm of a middle school cafeteria food fight. That every track is loaded front-to-back with sing/shout-worthy lyrics and earworm melodies is a testament to the band's commitment to the art form of pop songwriting. Guppy is a record that doesn't so much seek to reinvent the pop wheel so much as gleefully refine it.

Emergency & I, the underground classic from The Dismemberment Plan, will be released on vinyl for the first time on January 11, 2011. In the eleven years since its release, Emergency & I has been widely regarded as the definitive artistic statement from the beloved Washington D.C. quartet and has found its way onto many best-of lists, including the #16 spot of Pitchfork's Top 100 Albums of the 90's. In celebration of this reissue The Dismemberment Plan, who performed their last concerts as an active band in 2003 (followed by two benefit shows in D.C. in 2007 that sold out in 4 minutes), will play a handful of shows in January and February of 2011. Originally released on DeSoto Records, this vinyl re-issue will be presented in gatefold 180-gram audiophile-grade vinyl with a giant full-color photo collage, lyrics sheet, and in-depth liner notes, plus four rare bonus tracks,also never before available on high quality vinyl.

This classic album will be available at stores in time for a handful of double-bill Postal Service Give Up / Death Cab for Cutie Transatlanticism shows in the UK, Spain and Portugal this summer, celebrating the 20th anniversary of these generation defining albums. Bandleader Benjamin Gibbard will pull double-duty, fronting each band as they perform the beloved albums front-to-back. Pearly Gate Music is an incredibly gifted gentleman by the name of Zach Tillman (although he records and usually plays live with a stylistic variety of full-band options), who makes beautiful, challenging, simple-yet-complicated songs structured around his extraordinary singing, vivid lyrics, and unusual melodic sense. Sometimes conjuring the feeling of a punk rock religious revival in an old-time prairie tent,sometimes stripped down to spare acoustic-guitar-and-lovely-croon, Tillman's music sounds as if it were written and performed by a bedraggled dust bowl poet influenced by whatever popular songs from the poor folk circuit were being sung after dinner in the parlors of his youth and who somehow managed to supernaturally absorb the sound of Lubbock circa 1955, Laurel Canyon circa 1968 and Berlin circa 1980. While maintaining the authentic reflection Staples is known for in his songwriting, he has embraced a cautiously optimistic outlook for his future. Staples finds gentle melodies with his trademark stripped-back guitar, and also introduces new sounds by integrating keyboards for sonically lush arrangements. Staples' previous releases were met with praise from NPR's All Songs Considered, American Songwriter, Paste, The AV Club, and more.

Thank You For Today, Death Cab for Cutie's ninth studio album, was produced and mixed by Rich Costey (Fiona Apple, Franz Ferdinand, Muse), who also produced the band's last album the GRAMMY® nominated Kintsugi. Thank You for Today marks the first Death Cab for Cutie release to see long time bandmates Gibbard, Nick Harmer, and Jason McGerr joined in the studio by new members Dave Depper (Menomena, Fruit Bats, Corin Tucker, Ray Lamontagne) and Zac Rae (My Brightest Diamond, Fiona Apple, Lana Del Rey, Gnarls Barkley). Depper and Rae have both been part of Death Cab's touring band since 2015.

The story of Big Scary begins in Melbourne, Australia, where duo Tom Iansek and Jo Syme, armed with just acoustic guitars and egg shakers, started playing songs together in the living room of Syme’s parents’ house, gradually working up to a bolder, more expansive sound by incorporating electric guitars, drums, synths and piano. What began as a few rainy day acoustic ballads in their first incarnation soon grew, and before long, the newly named Big Scary were writing anything they pleased – fuzzed-out garage rock; piano-led pop; intricate, pastoral instrumentals – each imbued with an effortless pop sensibility and lightness of touch that would quickly see the duo attract a strong following in their home country. Following a series of early self-released singles and EPs, Big Scary released the intimately crafted debut album Vacation in 2011 via the band’s own label Pieater. Barsuk is extremely excited to celebrate the 25th anniversary of one of our favorite albums by releasing it for the very first time on vinyl, in this colored-vinyl double-LP limited edition, packaged in a gatefold jacket with lyrics, new liner notes, new artwork, and a full side of A-side-worthy bonus tracks (also available on vinyl for the first time).

It's a wide-ranging, massively intelligent piece of work that swings between indie, glam, mod, new wave, orchestral balladry, and pure radio pop, all set alight by caustic, clever, and heart-rent lyrics that capture a forgotten American moment-just before a century turned, and just after the party ended.
