During the 2010s, DNG (Dengue Dengue Dengue!) - a duo of Felipe Salmón and Rafael Pereira Denegri - were instrumental in galvanizing Latin club music’s current forward phase from their base in Lima, via shots fired on Kuduro stronghold Enchufada, and thru to their ‘Fiebre’ 12” for Naafi in 2020. After a minute out refining their sound since ’22, they come harder and slicker than ever with ‘agita2’, shaping signature, shearing sound design and diamond-cut drum palette on a volley of mutable ballistics bending knees and swivelling hips between darkside dembow, G-force jungle warpers and chrome-hoofed tekno zingers that transcend dancefloor borders in deadly style indigenous to Florentino’s Club Romántico squad - Coffintexts, DJ Babatr, Nick León, Merca Bae, et al.

On each count of ‘agita2’ they summon a proper sexy, cyber-noir suss, getting into gear with the searing and sinuous dembow dancehall swivel of its title tune, and deploying haunting neo-horror FX on the tresillo tech step of ‘Calnetao’ like Ed Rush & Optical in a VR jungle. Better yet ‘Pwtroglych’ tightens the tendons on a lip-bitingly sharp sort of neuro-dembow stepper inflected with gripping rhythmelodic drum cadence, before ‘Paxangone’ simmers down to martial reggaeton etched with sliding lead like DJ Mujava’s Kwaito classic ‘Township Funk’ and choral motif recalling Mike Ink’s ‘90s Warp ace ‘Paroles’, before turning on the turbo boosters for a sort of doble paso x singeli NRG burst in the laser-guided ‘Ratra’.
