Aboubakar Traoré, hailing from Bobo-Dioulasso, is a master of the kamélé n’goni and an extraordinary vocalist. With his music, he breathes new life into the rich legacy of the Mandingue griots, while giving voice to the daily challenges of his people and paying homage to the ancestors who have shaped the history of Burkina Faso and Africa. His infectious energy, alongside his band Balima, brings a fresh and vibrant take on the traditional sounds of his homeland, leaving audiences filled with joy.

Hijaz is a multicultural sextet that combines Eastern melodies with improvised jazz. Their music is based on the dialogue between oud and piano. ‘Hijaz’ refers to the Arabic musical scale but also holds a clear reference to jazz. More than ten years already, the band is weaving an intriguing web of Mediterranean warmth, polyrhythmic structures and musical virtuosity. In a tight formation of fore core musicians, Hijaz captures the magic of the moment during their concerts. For this album the band aligned with a cello and two violins and arranged for strings by bass player Ben Faes.

She surrounds herself with Laurent Blondiau for the musical direction and 16 other renowned musicians and vocalists, including jazz saxophonist Toine Thys, tubist Michel Massot, trumpeter Pauline Leblond, young trombonist Nabou Claerhout and female singer-percussionists of the Sultanats B'net Chaabi.

Darbuka, gongs, berimbaus, kalimbas, pandeiro, riqq, doholla, bendirs, udu,… These are just some of the instruments that make up the sound universe of Hands in Motion. This percussion trio brings together musicians Simon Leleux (Fabrizio Cassol / I Silenti, Refugees for Refugees), Robbe Kieckens (Lamekan Ensemble, Myrddin De Cauter) and Falk Schrauwen (Compro Oro, Echoes of Zoo) who create a sound universe that does not knows any limits.

Mòlo Sâyat is the meeting of souls of Lebanese singer Pl Seif and some European instrumentalists. Their repertoire has established its base camp around the Mediterranean Sea without renouncing their sporadic visits deep inland. Led by an ear cravingthe beauty of contradictions, the band composes songs in Arabic, Italian and Romani language. Voices and instruments rise up together to invoke a chimeric and colourful folklore and to transport the listeners into a voluptuous inner-world.

Kosmo Sound from Ghent presents its long-awaited debut album 'Antenna'. The instrumental sextet is inspired by the typical dub sound where their background in jazz is never far away. They mix heavy bass lines and tight drums with spacy melodies into an organic trip that sets every venue on fire. They have already performed twice as the support act for Dub legend Adrian Sherwood and became winners of Sound Track 2019.

He fully masters the compás of flamenco, which gives him the freedom to converse with elements of jazz or classical music. His swiftness sometimes seems extraterrestrial, hut whoever takes the time to listen intensively to his music will soon find an immense world of pure emotions, beauty and peace. After five albums and numerous concerts Myrddin proves that great virtuosos of flamenco don’t necessarily have to come from Spain.

A few smashing performances later, culminating in a comeback at the last Ghent Festivities with Lien De Greef and Paolo Marquez as guests,there is now a new release with skalosal songs that include Dave Hillyard and Vic Ruggiero from The Slackers. Soolmaan is a sextet led by Belgian oud player and composer Tristan Driessens, accompanied by Nathan Daems (Black Flower), Christos Barbas, Annemie Osborne, Andrea Piccioni, and Levent Yildirim. Together, they create sound tableaus that float freely between the Bosphorus and India, with flute, sax, ney, cello, piano and tamburello igniting an imaginary folklore infected by jazz.

Driessens began his career immersed in the classical music of the Ottoman court, founding the Lâmekân Ensemble in 2011. After training under oud virtuoso Necati Çelik in Istanbul, he returned to Belgium in 2016 to form Soolmaan, an ensemble that reflects his multi-faceted identity. Rooted in Eastern modal traditions, Soolmaan’s music bridges jazz, folk, and classical influences, creating a unique and contemporary sound.

Their 2017 debut album, ‘Letters to Handenberg’, was described as "oriental chamber jazz," with Istanbul serving as a common thread. With Kashgul, their latest release, Soolmaan explores Ottoman makam, Indian raga and Anatolian halk muzigi, blending these traditions with a contemporary modal language. Created during Driessens' artist residency at the Concertgebouw of Bruges, the album features original compositions alongside reimagined works by Ravi Shankar, Amjad Ali Khan, and Art Pepper.

With improvisation as a connecting factor, Soolmaan’s music invites listeners into rich, boundary-crossing soundscapes where tradition and innovation meet. Kashgul exemplifies the ensemble’s ability to craft an immersive musical experience that resonates deeply with diverse audiences.
