This is a collection of recordings by Geoff Bastow, English composer active in the 1970s to 1980s, preserved on the prestigious German library label "SONOTON." The opening resonates with dazzling synthesizer phrases, and the dynamic sound created by the incorporated drum machine in an inorganic manner can be considered the very essence of synth-wave or perhaps futuristic funk.

John Carpenter's 1980 follow-up film to his smash hit Halloween featured ghost sailors terrorizing a Californian coastal community as a dense fog descends on their
homes. The multi-talented filmmaker's atmospheric synthesiser score has long been a soundtrack favourite and this 7" single features its two most recognisable themes.

Scottish synth pop sensations Chvrches have a history of commissioning remixes for each of their chart topping albums. Given the cinematic concept of their latest Screen Violence they wanted to get a composer involved who worked in that universe. Singer and percussionist Lauren Mayberry said that the master of horror John Carpenter was the top of their wish list elaborating that "His films and music have been so impactful on us over the years, and without the stories he created I am not sure that the concept of Screen Violence (and female narratives within the album) would exist in the way they do." They decided to reach for the stars and contact Carpenter's team and to their delight Carpenter was excited by the idea. Lauren continues "As horror fans, we know that John Carpenter is the godfather and the gold standard and we're so excited to get to work with him in any capacity... we never really thought he'd reply, let alone that he'd send back something better than the original." Carpenter's remix of the Chvrches song "Good Girls," created alongside his creative partners Cody Carpenter and Daniel Davies, enhances the depths of the song's already infectious synthesizer melodies and adds his signature slightly sinister swagger and groove.

This score is pound-for-pound the funkiest with its heavy bass and drum groove throughout each movement of the score. Most of the pieces from this soundtrack also include killer samples and breaks, my favourites being “The Diamond Fortress” with Ronnie Scott on solo sax and Chris Karan on Drums and “Thief On The Prowl” featuring Tubby Hayes and Daryl Runswick on Bass. This release also has an exclusive edit. The Main Theme (vocal by The Three Degrees) and instrumental scores have been combined to deliver an unforgettable version of this great title theme. Now for the first time, Dynamite Cuts brings you yet another exclusive 2x7” 45 collection featuring some of Roy Budd’s finest work.

Recorded in 1976 by Invisible Girls’ Steve Hopkins and Martin Hannett for a truly
bizarre stop-motion animation called All Sorts OF Heroes, this hard edged funk
instrumental theme reveals another side to this versatile production team joining the
hidden dots between ESG, Gyro, A Certain Ratio and Afro Express.

Like much of the lost and unreleased projects that stalled on the peripheries of early
proto-Madchester, including the disco-pogo music of Spider King, Gerry And The
Holograms, The 48 Chairs, Naffi and The Mothmen, this record has been frozen in
time waiting for the wider marathon of independent pop to catch up!

Friends' new release, celebrating its 10th year, is a Newtro collaboration & a commemorative edition to celebrate the upcoming 10th anniversary! The A-side includes a cover of “Ame ni Kiss no Hanataba wo”, which is also known as the opening theme song for the Naoki Urasawa original and anime version of “YAWARA!". Composed by singer-songwriter KAN, the song was also included on Miki Imai's fifth original album, “retour” (released in 1990), and has been reconstructed with a variety of POP sounds typical of Friends. The B-side includes a re-recorded version of “Yoru ni Dance”, one of the most popular songs since the band's inception!

Psycho 2000 - A dark but funky theme that begins with an occulting Italian echo-oscillator drone that is soon followed by pulsating bass and breakbeat drums, leads to tremolo guitars, an ostinato on electric mandolas, strings climbing eloquent ladders, otherworldly electronics, and a cinematic finale. An evocation of a parade of wooden nutcracker soldiers elaborately dressed in gold-trimmed black uniforms down a wide avenue decorated with mardi gras beads and animal skulls upon golden cobblestones toward a tornado spiralling out purple-hued glissandos and curlicues of elephant smoke. White Spiritual - Head nod action, the twinkling of a late 60’s Vox Continental II with sickly transistors, the noodling matrix of an intergalactic telephone exchange carried on a bed of bouncy bass with a firm backbeat. The Johnny Guitar Watson-esque bite and sting of a ‘67 Teisco guitar preludes slabs of unison dark brown moog and organ giving way to the dance of fingers over the black naturals and white sharps of the Continental II.

The inspirational intake and respectful tribute of and to Hindi Cinema Soundtrack artists Kalyanji-Anandji and R. D. Burman and the Simla Beat guitar organ psych records of the early/mid 70’s, coupled with the Italian silver-stringed heavy-funked composers Piero Umiliani and Stefano Torossi kaleidoscopically conjure the sounds brought to you by Pleasurewood in this 7” single. Firework is ushered in by a Hofner Beatle bass’s nasal clacking joyfully assisted by clapping hands through murky spring reverb. A breakbeat incantation to the sun scored with Farfisa, Guitar Wah and Arp Odyssey. Move! is a more pensive post-apocalyptic funk hymn with the instrumentation of piano, cimbalom and mellotron, plus the layered and flanged vocals of the composers Paul Elliott and Anthony Donje, with the instruction to ‘Move!’ by studio kingpin Buddy Elliott.

Quirky as fuck!' is the term to describe the latest killer 45 from Paul Elliott & Shawn Lee. Since they crossed paths over a decade ago, Paul (Eleven76/Hot Border Special/The Mighty Mocambos) & Shawn (Ping Pong Orchestra/Young Gun Silver Fox) have collaborated on many impressive projects including the critically acclaimed documentary The Library Music Film. The pair share a love of weird, exotic, otherworldly sounds that can usually only be found in classic library music. However, with their latest release on Farfalla Records, they take the listener on a deep dive into the strange, percussive and unusual world they inhabit! 2021 saw the release of 'The Globeflower Masters Vol.1'. An album released on Mr Bongo and born from the fruitful collaboration between Glenn Fallows (The Impellers / Andres y Xavi) and Mark Treffel (Blue States / The Soul Steppers).

Taking inspiration from classic 60s and 70s soundtrack and cinematic composers such as Axelrod, Morricone, Gainsbourg, Jean-Claude Vannier and Piero Umiliani, the album was very well received upon its release and struck a chord with the scene’s connoisseurs.

We all felt the next logical step was to make their music available on 45 too. The release features an album track ‘Fear Me Now’ on the A-side and is paired on the B-side with two new tracks that channel the sound of library music giants such as Hawkshaw and Bennett.

The first release in a new catalog series dedicated to the 7" . Here are two reworks produced between Italy and the United States, inspired by Italian cosmic atmospheres of the late 70s: “Cascades” by Stephen Schlacks (1978) and “Pulsazioni” by Filippo Trecca (1979).

“Cascate Emozionali Volume One” is a tribute to these two composers, and to all others that, just like them, have created immortal melodies and atmospheres. This project is also a work of sound archeology, of careful research of the synthesizers and the sounds that have given life to the original versions, here reproduced with a contemporary luster, honoring their original essence. This music is a container full of emotions, of nostalgia for an era that no longer exists, of faded memories that are suspended in the cosmos, of moments that we miss. All of them connected to our childhood, our family, to our loved ones, and to the objects that were there all along, like the “Selene” chair of Vico Magistretti, redesigned for the cover by French illustrator Alexis Jamet.

Music to remember.

Music for animation cyber-noir film "Battlefield" (based on same-titled book by Stephen King). Animated films soundtrack is one of the most substantial aspects of Bystryakov's career. He masterfully balances between being a composer and a sound designer. A cartoon thriller for Stephen King's original story was created at the Kyivnaukfilm studio in 1986. The work itself reached the Soviet reader in 1981 for the first time and was King's first publication in the Ussr, as well as "Battleground" was the first and only film adaptation. "Battlefield" is a work that belongs entirely to its time. This soundtrack is a semi-conscious journey through the night TV network: from Italian horror movies and detectives to the movie Blade Runner on the last working channel well past midnight. Actually, in such a sequence, the fabric of the work is revealed. The atmosphere in the style of Goblin (Untitled I), thus echoing the work of Enno Morricone (Title theme, Theme of the boss). In addition to melodic fragments, he boldly creates minimalist pieces that undoubtedly sound like an early acid house (Untitled II), because the sounds of Roland Tb-303 and Tr-606 are instantly recognisable. Bystryakov's approach did not involve the use of many tools or effects. He worked with one Roland Juno-106 synthesiser, using the full palette of its sound. His new tool is a counterpoint. This is how the final theme (End Theme) is constructed, where a piercing solo on a saxophone changes the atmosphere to nostalgia.

The long-awaited recurrence of the OP theme "I won't be your wife" from the TV anime "Kiteretsu Daihyakka"!

The opening theme of the TV anime "Kiteretsu Daihyakka" sung by Kaori Moritani, announced in 1988, has been reissued with a new analog 7-inch jacket design. On the B-side, the ending theme of the 90-minute special version that was broadcast the year before the start of regular broadcasting (1987), "Korosuke Machigou" composed and arranged by Haruomi Hosono is recorded.

BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Co., Ltd. presents a worldwide project with the theme “Join the PAC – Come and join us” to commemorate the 40th anniversary of Pac-Man ’s birth.

The memorable 40th anniversary official theme song “JOIN THE PAC” was produced by ‘Ken Ishii’, the techno god of the Orient. The video clip of his masterpiece “Extra” (directed by Koji Morimoto also known as the drawing director of the movie “AKIRA”) was awarded “MTV Dance Video of the Year” in UK, which brought him as one of Japan’s most proud producers to the world.

A special music video for “JOIN THE PAC” is directed by Yuichi Kodama, who is renowned as a chief video director of flag handover ceremony at the 2016 Rio Olympics closing ceremony, and his “UNICLOCK” online ad campaign (2008) for UNIQLO, which won grand-prix of three biggest advertisement awards, the Cannes International Advertising Awards, the Clio Awards, and the One-Show.

To complete the the Orgasmo/Paranoia soundtrack set, Four Flies adds two songs to the cake (both not included in the LP version released today). This long-lost Parisian skin flick ‘Jeunes Filles Impudiques’ (aka Schoolgirl Hitchhikers) marks a particularly vulnerable period in the career of one of the most underrated and misunderstood directors to emerge from the rising smoke of the 1968 Parisian social explosion.
From a director with early links with the Paris underground, The Letterists, The surrealists, improv theatre and the free-press comes the reclaimed audio tracks from one of his rarest celluloid moments - but lets not confuse this for high-art. Finders Keepers make no bones, this is Jean Rollin’s maiden voyage into adult entertainment, DIrected under the pseudonym of Miche Gentil with a flimsy plot, questionable acting skills and an awesome little schizophrenic soundtrack.
The Brutus Drums percussion workout, the acidic folk pastoral movements, the Cul-De-Sac-esque jazz theme and the UK library sound-alike tile-tune all make up this 5 track veritable banquet of Gallic sleaze and second-class sound providing fans of cult cinema and b-music with an unexpected glimpse into the No-No generation at its most candid.
The interests of good taste have ensured that this long-lost movie has been buried for some 40 odd years with a musical score bursting to jump out of the can and down your tone arm which has now been made possible by a recently renovated negative print and new source material. These original Pierre-Raph (of ‘Requiem For A Vampire’ infamy) compositions from the publishing Library of Paris’ Musicale Editions Dellamarre (of Acanthus/Unity fame) come straight from Rollin himself as an introduction to Finders Keepers’ new Rollinade series documenting some of the finest musical moments of the director’s career as an avant-gardener, counterculture vulture and Gallic vamp-tramp all housed in their original hand-painted promotional artwork for the first time ever on vinyl.

Only released in 1999 as it was thought it wasn’t a sellable soundtrack. Now for the first time Dynamite Cuts are making a 2x7” 45 collection of some of these gems. The Black Windmill is very much on the same vibe as Stone killers. When I first heard “No Co-Operation” I almost fell off my chair!! In particular, the drums and dark strings (by the National Philharmonic Orchestra) lift this into another zone. In addition, the deep bass groove (this time featuring Daryl Runswick on bass) and killer horns, featuring more of the finest players from Budd’s stable, take this piece into the stratosphere!

This almost unheard score holds some never before heard Budd gems. Dynamite Cuts release for the first time a 7” 45 with a selection of original cues and dialogue taken from the Film. How, James Coburn as Professor Robert Elliot creates a masterful plan to get four people, who know too much, to kill each other is a fine example of a classic British thriller with a superb twist at the finale. This 45 is a journey through the film that includes some never before heard tracks. A must have!

Stanley Kubrick has a troubled past with Deerhoof. An argument over whether Eyes Wide Shut was good almost broke up the band in 1999 and again in 2003. When Famous Class suggested a 7" of music from The Shining, the band waffled for three years about whether they thought they could do it justice. But once a Halloween release date was proposed, Deerhoof couldn't resist. They got the score to Bartok's "Music For Strings, Percussion and Celesta" out of the library, and transcribed one of the 20s songs straight from the closing credits. Music that in the movie echoed from some ghostly, gilded past takes on a more urgent character in Deerhoof's versions, as if to underscore that the horrors of white supremacy, oligarchy, and domestic abuse are alive and well in 2018 America.

Quartet Records, in collaboration with GDM and Universal Music Publishing Italia, presents a 7-inch, 45 RPM, presents the premiere vinyl edition of the two key themes composed by Ennio Morricone for the grotesque comedy Crescete E Moltiplicatevi in 1973. The film was directed by Giulio Petroni in 1973 and starred Lionel Stander, Hugh Griffith and Rosalba Neri. Morricone’s unusual score, an explosive mixture of sacred and profane, is a guttural vocal work performed by I Cantori Moderni di Alessandroni and Edda Dell’Orso, with the participation of Oscar Valdambrini’s wonderful flugelhorn. Mastered by Chris Malone, this 7-inch disc is pressed in elegant white, audiophile vinyl.

The lush aural environment culminates in a dreamy closing vamp with the impassioned vocal set amid a swirl of improvised trumpet, violin, and piano. This haunting, yet ironic song may well have found its way into the popular consciousness ... if the movie had actually existed!
