Ellie Bleach returns with her sophomore EP Now Leaving West Feldwood via tastemaker label Sad Club Records (Clara Mann / John Myrtle).

Set within the fictional town of West Feldwood, the EP explores the lives of an anthology of residents – with each track told from the perspective of a different character. As the final sixth track concludes the story, it sheds light on a sinister undercurrent as West Feldwood meets an unfortunate end. Ellie adds, “this EP is taking my world building to the next level. All of the town's residents are lonely, misunderstood and dissatisfied, but ironically all unaware of their impending demise.”

With a penchant for cinematic storytelling, Ellie Bleach’s wry wit and esoteric lyrical style harbours a biting cynicism that examines the strange eccentricities of modern life. Pulling from the world-building mastery of Ethel Cain and the charismatic showmanship of Cmat, her music soundtracks a rotating cast of lonely misunderstood people that exist within suburbia.

A grandiose EP with flawless lyricism, Now Leaving West Feldwood is a show stopping storyline propelled through Ellie Bleach’s compelling narrative wit. Bristolian newcomer Clara Mann releases her intimate debut EP Consolations via Sad Club Records. The 4-track EP stands both as a collection of reflections into her own private world, and as a soothing dose of medicine used to “console” herself. It documents the progression of adulthood, focusing on the fragility of the self and highlighting the importance of connection, whilst offering us a well-needed moment of tranquillity.

These themes are embodied by coming-of-age title track ‘Station Song’ which joins previous singles ‘Thoughtless’, ‘I Didn’t Know You Were Leaving Today’, alongside new track ‘Waiting For The Flight’ which completes the release. London-based John Myrtle releases his charming debut album Myrtle Soup, on indie label Sad Club Records (bugs, Clara Mann, nudista). Homemade sounds to be enjoyed alongside ‘a nice calm sigh’, the debut album is a playful exploration of love and identity, packaged to soothe and delight. The album includes single cuts ‘Get Her Off My Mind’ and ‘How Can You Tell If You Love Her?’, which garnered support from the likes of BBC 6’s Marc Riley & Radcliffe and Maconie, as well as DIY & So Young Magazine.

John Myrtle is a Birmingham-raised London-based singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, who writes feel-good sun-soaked anthems. After releasing a bundle of tracks on his soundcloud in 2018, Myrtle released his debut EP Here’s John Myrtle in July 2019 via Sad Club & Bingo Records. John Myrtle has been an active member of London’s live music scene, playing with artists such as Katy J Pearson, Boy Azooga and Blackaby.

The emerging songwriter Michael Rea under the moniker of Symbol Soup releases his debut album Slow Puncture via Sad Club. Tender and conversational, Symbol Soup has crafted a wonderfully candid and approachable debut album melding indie rock with folk and country elements intertwined.Seeing his hometown Milton Keynes through the lens of a small American town, Rea’s tracks portray a Pacific Northwest fantasy ideal.

Written during the summer of 2021, Michael notes: “A ‘Slow Puncture’ is the perfect example of a problem that gets thought about every day and left unfixed. A tyre with a slow puncture needs constant effort and maintenance just to keep moving, but usually doesn’t get fixed until it’s too late.” Holding up the mirror to himself, weaving through ‘Slow Puncture’ is the theme of living with your own limitations or flaws. As Rea states, this is done so “ideally through acceptance, other times through pure laziness.” This metaphor carries through to the process of growing older, with a gradual loss of substance as time passes.

Setting the tone for the enchanting and introspective journey, ‘Slow Puncture’ opens with “I’m a cloud that’s procrastinating raining”. For fans of Hovvdy, Alex G and Soccer Mommy.
