Based in Ottawa, Ontario, the capital city of Canada, The Riptides have been cranking out high-energy blasts of melodic, poppy punk rock for over 25 years. With their new LP Burn After Listening, the band makes the move to Pirates Press Records, and are ready to bring their sound to an all new worldwide audience! Originally formed in 1998, the band wasted no time assembling their own studio and label, putting out their own records as well as their fellow Ottawa bands. Word spread quickly, and the band’s notoriety grew, particularly in the US, and soon the band found that they enjoyed rising to the challenge of leaving home and recording at noted US studios, with Burn After Listening being no exception. This album was recorded at the legendary Blasting Room in Fort Collins, CO, with Andrew Berlin at the helm for tracking and Jason Livermore in charge of the final master. These studio sessions included a cavalcade of friends & guest musicians, including members of Teenage Bottlerocket, All American Rejects, Screeching Weasel, and The Queers. A number of songs on the record also bear co-writing credits from fellow Pirates Press Records artist Matt DeeCRACK. Blending attitude-driven downstroke riffs with irresistible hooks and harmonies, combined with an aesthetic informed by everything from nerdy pop culture and surfing, they've already amassed quite the following across the decades, but this record stands poised to introduce them to many new fans. Pirates Press Records is proud to give Seattle rockers The Drowns' debut album View From the Bottom the proper reissue it deeply deserves. With a debut album, a band generally hopes that one or two songs will stand the test of time, stick around long term, and give fans something to latch on to, relate to, and most importantly, want more of. View from the Bottom surpasses that marker handily. The Drowns came straight out of the gate guns blazing, from the opening track "Eternal Debate" through fan-favorite live set staples "Faithfully Faithless" and the title track, and ultimately, the bookend, emotional climax, and arguably one of the most important, poignant, and personal songs on the album, "Darkness." This new version features all new art, with a minimalist, black on black spot-matte jacket with a metallic red foil stamped pitchfork paying homage to the original album cover photo. The entire album is remastered, and following the original closer "Darkness" is an encore of sorts in the form of a bonus track: a cover of "Satyagraha," the opening track to hardcore punk legends 7Seconds' monumental 1989 LP Soulforce Revolution. Articulate, vital, and aspiring for a better world, it is a fitting new coda that helps ensure that this is indeed the definitive version of the album fans already know and love.

A longtime banner carrier for fiercely independent DIY punk in the UK, Wonk Unit are teaming with Pirates Press Records to release their ninth studio LP, Good Good Glad To Hear It. Based in the South London town of Croydon, the band has its origins in lead singer, songwriter, & guitarist Alex Wonk’s experience in rehab 25 years ago, where he found journaling & sharing his experience with others liberating. After completing his time in hospital, Alex set about crafting songs from his “addiction journals,” and from this sharing of unvarnished honesty, Wonk Unit was born. The 12 songs on Good Good Glad To Hear It are the diverse fruits of a long term process of songwriting and collaboration that takes the listener on an emotional journey. “These songs need to be written. They all had, for whatever reason, a burning desire to be released from my head,” says Alex, who estimates that more than half of the vocals, guitars, and keys on the finished product were recorded as voice notes using nothing more than his cell phone mic. Aside from “EQ magic” courtesy of long term engineer & co-producer Andy Brook, there is no studio trickery to hide behind, and what appears on the record are the raw takes as played by Alex and his bandmates Vez, Max, Pwosion, Ryan, and AJ, as well as a group of studio collaborators adding instrumentation such as keys, horns, and banjo. The confessional spirit & emotional honesty of the songwriting shines through in every song on the record, such as the opening track & lead single, a “sad, depressing song about addiction” titled “Rapidly Declining Dignity,” which recalls Alex’s journals, or the song “Overwhelmed,” in which the songwriter turns his focus to his relationship with his daughter in the aftermath of his marriage falling apart. “Those were the saddest, most precious, painful, terrifying times of my life,” he shares, before adding, “Things are good now.” Ultimately, these songs could only be written by someone who survived to tell the story. Just as journaling and sharing with others in rehab helped Alex to get sober and see a way through to the next stage of life, sharing songs that speak the truth of his experiences with the band’s audience continues to carry him through life’s ongoing struggles. Consequently, the band has attracted a large and diverse group of devoted fans who immediately recognize that these are true stories of resilience that can serve as a touchstone in their own lives. The true stories on Good Good Glad To Hear It are certain to find their way to even more. SIDE A1. Rapidly Declining Dignity2. Now That I’ve Grown Up3. Luxury Flats4. Overwhelmed5. Shiny Horses6. Vinyl LP pressing. This record was a surprise gift, from Pirates Press Records (and the eight bands involved) to Cock Sparrer, in celebration of 50 years as a band. In the Captain's words: Beginning as a soundtrack to our communal adolescence, you have become family to me (and us) in the craziest of ways. From that very first TKO cross-country USA weekender in 2000 to an aircraft carrier twenty years later; from chaos in Brazil to chaos in Eastern Europe, from Blackpool to Berlin to Vegas, it's been an incredibly wild ride! Helping you tick off bucket list boxes one after another, the Pirates and I could not be more proud of a band for doing things the right way, YOUR way - and doing things truly for the love of it. You inspire all of us. In that same spirit of doing things our own way, and showing how much you mean to all of us, here's a little surprise for you. We hope you enjoy! 50 years is a milestone, but Cock Sparrer is FOREVER!

After forging relationships with numerous underground labels and distros releasing 7"s, tapes, LPs, and CDs, by 2006, UK punks The Restarts were ready to bring their operations in-house. Drummer Darragh O'Neill invested in a 24-track digital recorder, and the band got to work crafting the recordings that would ultimately become the Outsider LP on their own. Following that same DIY spirit, the band designed their own packaging featuring art by bassist/vocalist Kieran Plunkett that would become some of the band's most iconic and recognizable imagery. Furthermore, they formed their own label, called (what else?) No Label Records, to self-release Outsider with help from the aforementioned relationships with distros such as Active Distribution. Sonically, the album represented a step forward in every way for the band, with the addition of Robin Licker on guitar and vocals injecting new energy into the band's established raging sound. The band found themselves including more ska breaks alongside thrashier crowd-pleasers like "They're On To You" and "Koyaanisqatsi," as well as stepping into anthemic territory with mid-tempo rabble-rousers like "Bolloxology" and the title track "Outsider." The resulting record is the sound of a band who had put in years of hard work, indeed coming into their own and forging their path forward on their terms. Fans across the world recognized this and gave Outsider an enthusiastic reception. The Restarts and Pirates Press Records are proud to put this exceptional LP back in print to make all that noise all over again!

Vinyl LP pressing. Ramones In Love is a love letter to the love songs of the Ramones... How did this record come to be? Well it all began years ago when a young romantic Kepi made a compilation tape of all the Ramones love songs in chronological order... he loved their ballads, and after seeing the Ramones live several times, realized it was unlikely he would ever hear these songs live... The tape was an essential part of the soundtrack of his life... punks need ballads after the show is over, relaxing, or when spending time with a partner... Kepi has been releasing a love song or two every Valentines Day for well over a dozen years, and last years release included the Ramones' I Want You Around. The song included guitar parts by two of Sacramento's finest, and the dream of recreating this now legendary (to Kepi) comp tape became a passionate vision. Enlisting the production talents of his lifelong Ghoulie buddy Eric Bianchi, the two started recording tracks, with various talented friends, adding keyboards, horns, or whatever was needed to compliment the timeless melodies... To many people, the Ramones are their Beatles... The music has all kinds of depth and emotions, and though the Ramones are best known for their bombastic non-stop song delivery, this offering showcases the romance and poignance of the catalog of a band that has not only launched a thousand punk bands, but also warmed a million hearts.
