The Chicago-based artist, real name Andres Ordonez, has been a fixture in US house music circles since the '90s, releasing a string of EPs on labels like Sistrum, Semantica and Sound Signature. Theo Parrish's outlet, which last year put out a live mix from Ordonez, will handle his first album.

Debut physical collection by Berkeley producer patioworld (aka Benjy Toczynski) is a chic nocturnal suite of Pacific house, bioluminescent acid, and riptide reverie: Moonlight Beach. Crafted with synth emulators and sampled vintage drum machinery across the past year and change, the album’s 10 tracks move between sleek and slinky, breaks and bliss, liquid and low-slung. From cruiser’s delights (“Chicharrones,” “Andrea”) to white sand techno (“Gylpha,” “Málaga”) to shape-shifter pulse (“Glott,” “Crystal Palace”), patioworld maps a mode of restraint, refraction, and atmospheric motion, shimmering like violet light on a rising tide.

Lithuanian producer Simonas Činga debuts as Cport Cistema with a 7-track slate of low-slung steppers, melancholic jack, and baggy breaks, born of the struggle “to say whatever comes, to speak up – to say it.” Recorded across the past two years largely in Kaunas, the songs swell and swirl with kinetic dreams from city streets in uncertain times.

Crisp rhythms cut through cold air, laced in bass, breath, and samples both vocal and cinematic. It’s music of atmosphere and anticipation, attuned to heady heights just beyond the horizon. The spirit of Činga’s heroes (Vynehall, BoC, Djrum) echoes through these mixes but ultimately their motion and emotion maps a world unto itself – elevated, liberated, forever freshly coming into focus.

Named for a banned 60’s psychoactive stimulant, Indopan is the splinter entity of Irish producer Andrew Morrison, aka “tape throb” godfather The Cyclist. Its sound runs distinct but parallel, a fusion of blasted house and ghosted soul, smeared with dub, breaks, and redline grit. Yupana collects nine new tracks for a 50-minute trip through outer limits and altered states, cutting keys at the doors of perception.

Smoky horns, snaky bass, smeared organ, and deep torch laments spiral through kinetic, kaleidoscopic strains of dizzy swing, dusty jack, and jittery acid. Alternately weightless and weary, tense and unhinged, Morrison’s mastery of mood, rhythm, and restraint hits a supreme peak here. This is music of liquid nights, chemical bloodstreams, and ancient sorrows, ebbing and flowing from lost roots to fractured futures, unbowed and unknowable.

Moving from the raw and mechanical rhythms of his past works, with this new moniker he is expanding his musical horizons by combining sub-aquatic bass, humid soundscapes and unstable rhythms. The seven tracks of the album flow with some distinctive sound signatures, pitched-down vocals, heavy and slow kicks, fast percussions, eerie pads and analog bleeps. The world of Nova Mundi is a mesh of cultures and influences, where the high temperatures have slown things down, the air is tense and where the most primordial instincts seem to have overcome any artificial intelligence. Imagine tender vocals summoning the night over the howls of dusty vinyls and the digital embodiment of contemporary music making machines. We are a music making machine.

L/f/d/m, aka Richard Smith, makes his debut on Osàre, exploring the more delicate side of his intoxicatingly abrasive sound. Gold Like Glass is razor-sharp and elemental, with each track cast from long passages of synth dissected into heavy edits. According to Smith, this composition process is akin to printmaking, where the ink on a series of images deviates from the original stencil, becoming looser, softer and increasingly ghostly. ‘After Whitney’ is haunted by peak time rave energy; the drums are disembowelled, leaving a rolling climatic melody, utterly euphoric and disorientating. The track is followed by ‘Blood Byze Leech,’ a thunderously jagged affair, and ‘Delicate Push’ that fizzles like an electrified spinning-top, its frozen melodies accompanied by a lolloping beat. Turning over to the B-side, ‘Plute’ winds its way into dark psychedelia while ‘m-two nine’ descends into the realm of mutant de-accelerated bleep techno. Combing the ciphers of hardcore, its cruxes and suspense, with the serrated edge of minimal synth EBM, Gold Like Glass presents an
alchemical fusion of deeply danceable and cerebral noise.

Rico Friebe (otherwise known as Rico Puestel) enters the stage, carrying the weight of his peerless debut album "Jenni". Based on completely unanticipated events from personal matters, the album quickly emerged during a state of deeper challenges, worries and depression, subversively operating as reprocessing and self-reflective counselling in a state of uncertainty. A fusion of electronic and organic origins, combining sensitive production work and vintage songwriting, tells an incisive story within a widespread stilistic diversity from the realms of Ambient, Trip Hop and beyond. An album of esteem and acknowledgement with a deeply personal tiding. A salute, a tribute, a reminder.

Irish independent Andrew Morrison (The Cyclist, Buz Ludzha, etc.) returns as Indopan with a 70-minute suite of jazzy kinetics, lysergic breaks, and dusted swing: In Opulence. Inspired by a recent haul of modified rig acquisitions, including a Wurlitzer 206a, Korg Polysix, and analog Soviet drum brain called the Marsh UDS, the album skews his signature “tape throb” sound through a warmer, warbly lens, streaked with grit and sepia haze.

Morrison mentions themes of unattainable desire and hidden fracture as touchstones (“the breaking at the seams of a smile”), which are especially apparent in his two collaborations with vocalist Elaine Howley (“Shore Ellipsis” and “Antigreed”). But, throughout, the songs churn, burn, and billow with elusive movement, sweeping through rolling hills and misty city streets, in the shadow of uneasy futures.

Uncanny Valley is back with a tape that dives deeply into the musical underground of Lusatia, an area not far away from the label's home base Dresden. Expect analogue extravaganza with a punk attitude by two mysterious artists from the region of the Slavic sorbs. During the slow building odyssey that is Live IN Nochten, it creaks and groans like the wind that shakes the giant F60 overburden conveyor bridge in the Lusatian coalfields. For this jam, the elusive figure that goes by the name of Luzyca Bambaataa and usually hides in the back room of a hair salon, has wired together countless worn-out synthesizers and recorded a soundtrack to the surroundings. But others claim, that Luzyca Bambaataa is the street name of a complex character who fully immersed into some gear that a youth center in Hoyerswerda acquired with left-over EU fundings. After the cassette has been turned, things get even more serious with Graef's first outing of his electronic alter ego. The four killer tracks range from the dance floor anthem Gaival via the almost cosmic ghost song Haunting Voyage and the brutal drum heavy monster R0gu3 D3l4m41n to the fascinating IDM study Solifuge. Born Benjamin Butter to his parents in Hoywoy, he nowadays is a full-blown artist who adds a colorful DIY edge to all the different art forms he puts his hands on. A little over a decade ago, Maltese mastermind Rudi Agius debuted as Jupiter Jax with City Life ‘88, a 6-track suite shading Chicago and Italo into a hypno-melancholic fusion tailor made for the House of Silk. Two LPs, three tapes, and two EPs later, the saga concludes.
