Item Description
Euskalherria 1977, the dictator's body still lies hot, the streets burn. In St. Sebastián a group of young people who embrace the emerging avant-garde in Europe, They begin to create and express themselves. They are not wanted even by the police establishment, by that represent vandalism and provocation only for their aesthetics, nor for the left nationalist, still far from the postulates of Basque Radikal Rock, which sees them as Anglo whim on the part of well-born moderns, with the still unknown heroin as sharing. Negativo began rehearsing at the beginning of '77, the year that for many began everything, still far from coming of age and with primary equipment. Rafa Balmaseda bass (later in Paralisis Permanente), Luis Ruiz on Drums, Ángel Altolaguirre on Guitar (After producer of Alaska and the Pegamoides, Dinarama, Desechables...) and Borja Zulueta to the voice, which came from the always vindictive Brakaman, along with the great Jaime Stinus. Before they had another life, brief, with Pablo Gaskue on vocals, but that is another story which we will tell you. Just a dozen concerts, a bit of press from the time, and the recognition of Madrid pre-Movida, by being part, with “Ansiedad” of the soundtrack of the unforgettable “Arrebato” by the director and painter Ivan Zulueta, brother of the singer, and author of all the iconography of the band, including the cover of this compilation album of unreleased recording sessions, which we present today. In 1980 they were playing at the El Sol room at the film premiere party. An album coordinated in its beginnings by the Basque journalist Fernando Gegundez, has been masterfully rescued from tapes of almost extinct formats, by Miguel Ángel Gentleman, on an incredible work of technological craftsmanship. 14 priceless tracks, plus a fanzine that tells it all, means that Negative 1977-1980, is a necessary jewel to know the origins of many things. Rescued by the efforts of Subterfuge Records, via their collection “Songs from the Tumba”, contains 14 style exercises where British pre-punk merges with ravages of the Raw Power of some Stooges, the theatrical Rock of Alice Coopero the Glam Rock by Mott The Hoople. They invented the attitude.
