Terao Saho's new album 'Shu Shine', which will be her first in about two years, begins with the lyrics 'Some of my friends have died' and a light and jazzy trumpet fanfare. The first single 'Ai no Arika' and the second single 'Shu Shine', which will be the first song on the album, will be released in the fall of 2024 on CD, vinyl, and subscription. It has been about a year since we returned to our normal lives after the COVID-19 pandemic, which lasted for about three years. In the name of social distancing, each of us has had a difficult time that we have never faced before, and it seems that our daily lives have finally recovered, but if we look outside, we often feel that we are living in a parallel world that is completely different from before the pandemic, with wars and disasters continuing unabated. I think that what is important at times like these is to check your current location through casual conversations with people close to you. In this work, the dialogue between Saho Terao and musicians who support Japanese music, such as Mahito the People (E. Guitar), Ryuji Ueno of Tenniscoats (Sax), Santa Takahashi (Trumpet), Masatomo Utashima (Veena), Tatsuro Kondo (Harmonica), Masashi Sekiguchi (Cello), and Yuka Yoshino (Harp), is sublimated into music as they grieve together, express intense anger, and sometimes explode with joy. In the lead single 'Ai no Arika,' a unique groove full of originality while keeping the tempo slow is spun by Reizaburo Adachi (Drums), Wataru Iga (Bass), who are also members of 'Fuyu ni Wakarete,' and Saho Terao on piano and organ. Terao's graceful vocals are layered on top of it, and the present form of love that everyone is searching for suddenly appears while listening to this song... It is a straightforward and graceful song that can only sound in 2024. As represented by 'Shu Shine' and 'Good evening, Moon' (lyrics and composition: Ryo Kagawa), the despair that exists among people who live their lives to the fullest while being shaken by the times can be turned into hope as long as they are alive. I think that feeling exists among us who live in the modern age. I'm sure that 'casual chats' with Saho Terao, where you can feel that, will be held throughout Japan and East Asia after the album release in the form of a tour. Why don't we go on a journey to find the location of love together? From now on, let's meet in the songs, at the live performances, and here and there. [Artist profile] Born in Tokyo in 1981. Debuted in 2007 with the piano and vocal album 'Omi'. He has provided theme songs for director Nobuhiko Obayashi's 'Tenkousei: Sayonara Anata' and director Momoko Ando's '0. 5mm,' produced commercial music (KDDI, Kewpie, JA Kyosai, etc. ), and has also written many serials in newspapers (Nikkei, Hokkaido) and on the web, in addition to music. In parallel with releasing his original works, he has been unearthing and rearranging ancient folk songs buried in the land as his life's work, and is in charge of the serialization 'Exploring Prewar Music' in the magazine 'Music Magazine. ' He has also been invited to art projects all over the country, such as 'Yuarite' in Asama Onsen, Matsumoto (2021), 'Sumida River Doto' in the East Tokyo area (2021), and 'Contemporary Local Tales' in Susaki, Kochi (2022), and his expressive activities after research are increasing. Since 2009, he has been hosting the Big Issue support live 'Rinrin Fes. ' The 11th event was held in 2024 at Tamahime Park in Sanya. She has also teamed up with author Erika Kobayashi to create musical reading plays that revive the voices of women lost in history with the music of the time, such as 'Girls Spinning and Weaving,' which depicts female factory workers, and 'Girls Making Balloon Bombs,' which depicts female students mobilized to manufacture weapons. Her latest book is 'When the Japanese Were Immigrants' (published by Kawade Shobo). She has also published a series of essay collections, 'Around Music' and 'My Rebellious Period,' which she edits herself by calling on acquaintances such as musicians, poets, and editors. Her latest music album is 'Melody in the Margins' (selected as one of the top 10 albums in the Music Magazine annual rock category). She has also produced an instrumental album, 'As Many Tears as You Shed, a Beautiful Rainbow Rises,' in collaboration with photographer Naoki Ishikawa and video artist Daisuke Miyoshi. She continues to work in the three-piece band 'Winter Apart,' with Reizaburo Adachi and Wataru Iga. 'Magical Mitai ni' was chosen as the theme song for the 2022 NHK documentary 'Dear Nippon,' and the song is also featured in the textbook 'Music for High School Students I. ' LISTEN: https://open.
